Wow. Consider me impressed. I typically cannot STAND Aaron Lewis and especially his butchered Pearl Jam covers. I am a diehard PJ/Vedder fan, with my girlfriend often saying that she feels like I'm in more of a relationship with PJ than with her (:-D), but this was actually a very good, very solid cover. Aaron did the song justice here, the emotions of the song were well conveyed, and his voice actually sounded pretty damn good. Great job!

he made it his own.... playing the verse guitar and singing at the same time is practically impossible... so he played the chorus guitar the whole time (D-B-C)... which is a cool interpretation... i wasn't a fan of his version of black (because he screwed up the chord changes at the end of the song) - but this is enjoyable...

Pearl Jam has been my favorite band since I was 12 or 13 years old. I am now 28 and I still love this band. RELEASE is my all time favorite song. I think this is a very , very good cover. I was never a fan of Staind, but Aaron Lewis' voice is very strong and he performs exceptionally well here. Cheers!

I would say that the original is better as Eddie really seems to put his heart into that song. The lyrics obviously mean something to him and it shows when he performs it. That being said, I love Aaron Lewis as he is by far my favorite artist. I think Aaron performed the song Black better then Eddie V. did. In reality, who really cares who's sounded better, they are both excellent artists and I'm glad I have the opportunity to listen to them.

The way I look at it is that Aaron Lewis is just a fan like the rest of us, and likes to imitate his influences. Its just like everyone else that sings thier favorite songs.

I give him a lot of credit and think he sounds great, of course Vedder will be better because its his song, but Vedder covers a lot of other people's songs as well...

I see this as a form of praise to Vedder, and a great thing for music in general.
