Hi, I really want to get these headphones but i keep seeing that people are like "no dont use these with an ipod they suck with it" well an ipod touch is all i got, will the ipod drive these because ive had my heart set on these for a while and i dont want to be disappointed all because my ipod cant handle them. @lolzzz34 the 700 have the hinges in aluminium the xb500 is all plastic.The sound quality is allmost the same,xb700 have more sub bass (3hz-100hz) and better highs,the xb500 have more mid bass(100-200hz) more mids and less highs and more volume. The best bang is the xb500 go to innerfidelity website and you will see the complete profesional review whith tehnical data for all xb series(300,500,700)

I've tried these headphones with some different mp3 players, and with different music genres like jazz, metalcore, prog, fusion, blues.. and this headset is fucking amazing. Super warm sound and bassy!! One thing though, the bass can sometimes triumph the treble, and effect like vocals, and other details.

I have the Sony XB 300's (those were the ones available at the store at the time) and they are by far the most pleasurable headphones I have ever had. I am really looking to upgrade to the 700's sometime in the future!

Note that a '3Hz signal' is strictly a 3Hz sine wave. A different wave with period 3Hz must be analysed as a sum of many sine waves with different frequencies and amplitudes. If you can hear a '3Hz sound', you are hearing higher frequencies that compose that sound, not the 3Hz sine part. It could be a result of distortion which changes the shape of the signal.

There is a common misconception that people can 'feel' 3Hz from headphones. This is not true if the '3Hz signal' is a single sine wave. It is equivalent to taking some paper and moving backwards then forwards 3 times a second. You can only 'feel' it if the paper is travelling very fast. For that to be the case, the paper must be travelling very far each time (otherwise it is not moving harmonically). A headphone driver can not move that far, so it cannot be felt.

An iPad is just about powerful enough for these, but an iPod is not. Neither can drive them to anywhere near distorting level. I tried the XB700 with an iPod Nano and there is distortion at low volume in the iPod (probably digital), NOT the headphones.

I recommend using either a PC or a headphone AMP. Note that these headphones do not exaggerate bass. If you want to use them properly, boost the signal at around 30Hz using an EQ.

Yes, like the Sony xb1000! Seems good. It has 70mm Driver. While Sony MDR-XB700 is 50mm. Surely more pressure and volume to the ears. Will try them when they come for sale!
