Don't think the 2A isn't important? Well in the US a firearm is used in self defense every 13seconds, 9/10 of the time not one shot is fired and no one gets hurt. I'm willing to bet also that had the "victim" not been armed, the "attacker" would've gotten his/ her way (with potentially deadly results). Owning a gun is a two edge sword, just as easily as you can use one to save a life, you can end a life.

The irony of course is, in Fenty's decision to appeal the DC Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling concerning DC denying Heller a pistol permit, they may have returned Heller's right to purchase a pistol without permit! Fenty should have woken up, taken the ruling to heart and adjusted their laws. Instead, he and the Bradys embarked on this rediculous commikazi mission to the Supreme Court.

The SCOTUS rightfully believes that curtailing liberty to be a poor place to begin fighting crime.

Is that why DC, who has banned the possession of handguns and has HEAVY restrictions on other forms of firearms, has one of the highest crime rates int he fucking country?

This country does not have any problem with legally owned firearms of any sort. If those opposed to gun crime were genuine in their intent, they would be attacking the revolving-door laws allowing those who break the law to be punished. How can they legitimately face down citizens when they should be attacking criminals? It defies all logic and is evidence of an alterior motive.

Crime is only crime when it is created. Prohibition created the gangsters and hence gun crime. The government then banned machine guns And began regulating firearms (the 2nd "Shall not be infringed") Then drugs came along rather then treating the issue as a social medical problem it became an issue of crime, now we have a "war on drugs", crime created, now we have mexican and black drug gangs and hence gun crime, so the government continues to go at more and more regulation. as citizens of this great country we have the right to protect ourselves. the second amendment was last ratified at Dec 15th 1791. in a time period when many had just lost their lives to a tyrant and establish a free country. the second amendment is in place to assure that if a tyranny takes control of this country, again, that its people will be able to rise up and protect each others lives, and liberties.

Good Idea! Problem is! It targets (responsible folk). And Gun Control is already in place. Abusers are 1.) Criminal or 2.) Immune. 1.) The Criminals will be encouraged. 2.) The Immune (assume) advantage. Police Call Daily on its Citizens to Assist them, Because they Can NOT Protect Everyone (people do it unprotected?). Seems to me Poor Decisions and Poor Legislation by Criminal and/or Immune Factions is the problem. Maybe Poor Legislation and Poor Decisions should be Illegal. Think about it.

Yeah, D.C.'s gun controls laws have been so successful. They were the murder capital of the country for years despite being smaller population wise than other major metro areas.

The D.C. cops are incompetent. At least give law abiding citizens a chance against the criminal element.
