Torah is the word of G-d who is eternal. He gave the Torah in wisdom. If you think the Torah has mistakes in it or is not relevant then you either don't trust G-d or you don't understand his ways and I suspect that reform Jews are in the latter camp. Read the Torah - look at the Talmud, Study Tanya. Realise that its only because of G-d's will that we are living at any moment - use your moments well.
@JoshuaIsaac89 Reform Jews do ask questions, it is the orthodox that do not ask questions and follow the rituals blindly. Many things in the Torah do not pertain to the present time,i.e. multiple partners, concubines and the law of sotah.
I believe that you are entitled to your opinion...but I believe too, that you are confused. There is one way of being Jewish--follow the Torah! There is a Shulchan Aruch which teaches you how to behave as a Jew, not quite sure why you believe that you can just get up and make up your own laws and rules. If you reform something, you change it. Take for example that a person wants to eat pork, and therefore feel closer to G-d. According to you, no problem! Heretic! You are not a Rabbi. A Jokester!
@arielmba Shulchan Aruch was written by nothing but a mortal man. It's only one way of looking at the Torah. Please note that the same idea of an "only one way" of being something in a religious context is the same the radical Islamists and Jew-hating Catholics have. Nothing new under the sun. Words of an ex-orthodox Jew.
I am converting to Reform Judaism due to the fact that they are very welcoming. I feel that ultimately we all choose which things to follow in any religion, These things are ways that bring us closer to G-D. One cannot follow everything in one's religion.
Reform Judaism aught to be saved from extinction. I don't want all Jews in the entire world to be Orthodox or Atheist or Agnostic but Reform Judaism and all other forms of middle-of-the-road Judaism must be preserved. My name is Fred Tenzer, I was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA, I live in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA, and my e-mail address is rocket88_doowop@yahoo.com
I could go on and on about the Shabat transgressions that are comited at reform synagogues. Choir and Keyboard in Shabat.
Hope you r not offended, I am kind of sarcastic and energetic sometimes, I am just brainstorming here. And look forward for your feedback.
ps: if science clearly contradicts the Tora, an observant Jew should keep with the Tora. Should. That's his duty. > this is why G-d gave mitzvot and not bakashot > think about it>
But you are more than welcome to write a new bible, including your favorite sources, and those amusing science articles. I mean, another Jew already did write one. But do your ancestors, offspring and bretheren a huge favor: do not call it Judaism, not even with reform or recycled, with version 0.2 or beta...
Im sorry but I can NOT accept the idea that the mitzvot are optional!

Reform Judaism does change traditional Judaism - electricity, Kashrut, Shomrei Negiyah etc.
how can one feel closer to Hashem, if one is changing His word?
its like pretending to respect a parent whilst secretly (or not so much in this case) doing the opposite of what they said behind their back...

@JoshuaIsaac89 "...they believe in trading in the Torah for secular western values..."
FYI, this is the very same basic view radical Islam has about western values.

we believe the revelation from sinai is still happening. It's just what happened before is true and doesn't change.

wow, someone actually watched this clip > me
SORRY for writing such a long comment, I hope I won't bore you, but I am fascinated to hear about these thoughts I wrote in the following,
I think you should consider the following points for a moment:
what is judaism?
can we define the way we want it?
if so, why do we need an unchangeable Tora?
stop and think, don't give yourself excuses, I used to do...
If you think that it is what is in the written and oral Tora, then I can relate to that.
