whats the difference (in terms of sound) between the Soprano Recorder and the Tin Whistle? Cause this sounds like a Soprano Recorder for some weird reason!

i was in the car half an hour ago with me da drivin' home from derry and i heard raglan road on the radio. it was being sang by the dubliners. i came home got out the tin whistle and started figuring it out. then i found this vid. very good father :) do ye know back home in derry? written by bobby sands?

ear plugs are a good idea, the whistle can ruin your hearing after a while probably

i don't know why everyone is giving this comment the tumbs down.. its true.. on high wind insturments.. if you play really high notes really loud.. you can damage your hearing.. just don't play as loud as you can and you should be fine..

and you have to play them loud, you have to overblow to get the thing to hop up the octave. the higher the note the louder and the more damaging to your hearing

I find that I have to play louder in the highest note range to keep the pitch up. The upper octave (on my whistle) goes flat. I make a conscious effort to play quiter up there, but I draw a line in the sand when it comes to the pitch dropping.

Anyways excellent as usual, the only comment is a word of caution to would be players, if you adorn the tunes too much you run the risk of not being able to play with others at sessions.....so remember to keep "Your Version" only for solos and don't forget the "session" version......
