The E34 looks beautiful as a convertible, but I don't imagine that the E39 would have looked good as a convertible, nor the E60. I think the F10 would make a nice convertible though.

you got to mind that the e34 was bmw`s first big seller, mercedes alrdeady sold millions of cars and had all options, i think bmw was simply not confident enough to build it at that time. also these kind of cars are not for the european market, europeans buy sedans and diesels, not fully loaded m5`s like americans, if europeans need a sporty bmw they buy a 3 series. and of course the 8 series sold not that good.

today its different, they build suv`s, convertibles and all that stuff...

if the Bmw put in first line de M5 e34 C,the marketing grafics show ...the m5 e34 C kill de M3 C,that was the real reason why not prodused her!!but the build a few !!!

bmw is a car company and making cars is a business... bmw made tons of cars that are awesome but never produced them because they were hesitant that they wouldn't make money on them...i wish they made the M8, the 16 cylinder 7 series, the e34 M5 convertible, etc. but they didn't... and im sure than in the future they'll reveal more one of a kind cars that we would think are awesome

This is something else. I have never seen this car before. I wonder where these cars reside. The pics aren't that old, at least the one with an E39 M5 touring behind the cabrio. Today, we have the M6 cabrio to fill in the large convertible niche.

Maybe the sedan has grown on me...but this car looks odd. I read about it before in car&driver, looked good in the mag but here from different angles it just looks odd. E34 is a legendary car though.

The reasen why they did not put this in production, is quite straight forward:

At the end of the 80ies, BMW was generally known as a company selling 'the same car in 3 different sizes'

There realy where no people that needed a bigger cabrio then the already brilliant E30 Cabrio

I simply do not understand, why BMW never made production with this cabrio, and the coupe version of the e34. It would have been one of the most beautiful cars on the market!!! :(

@wozPOLSKA Yes, it is a shame BMW didnt put it on production, i think BMW would sell plenty of them. The car looking good and it could be big competitors with the Mercedes W124 Cabrio, since both cars was one of the best luxury sedans in the 80's and early 90's.
