As much as I dislike 6 if it weren't for him then I don't think 7's later transition into a darker more calculating character would've taken place, the writers having learned from their mistakes. 6 was a jerk, 7 would do controversial things but with purpose, it's why he's one of my faves. But good review, mate. However I do like Greatest Show as an adult just purely to see 7's whole "slight of hand" tactic to dealing with his problems.
If you'd like some nice 6th doctor stories, Colin Baker was actually voted best audio drama Doctor in a fan poll by Doctor Who Magazine. Apparently he lightens up and becomes more likable in those.
But if you're strictly a TV person, then Mark of the Rani's pretty good. But Revelation of the Daleks really is the best 6th Doctor story. It's very morbid and is a pretty good context for his version of the Doctor. It even introduces the white Imperial Daleks that play a part later in Remembrance.
@DubbleM900: yeah, i've seen the episodes that you mentioned, and i've also heard a couple of his audio adventures. still, he's easily my least-favorite doctor. just too mean, doesn't seem to fit. i guess the first doctor was pretty snippy too, but at least it seemed appropriate, because he looked like a frail old man.
@Wayn0rX The Sixth Doctor was hardened because of his experiences in his Fifth incarnation (similarly to how The Ninth Doctor was hurt so deeply by the Time War). Colin's plan was to have The Doctor grow to love again after all of the pain he had been though. He was never able to on TV, but check out any audio adventures that take place AFTER his time on TV. His first two with Evelyn are great and well worth a listen.
he is quite mysterious and quiet. i love his episodes. my favorite S mccoy stories are Survival and r of daleks. I like all his. I think the 4th doctor is a little over rated, his ones with leela and sarah jane smith were great, his finest hour i think then it got abit silly later on. I think the best doctor is obviously jon Pertwee. I like greatest show in galaxy. i think that has a message in it too. I like 6 doctor, i 'like' his character. i loved mark of rani, vengence on varos is good too
I wish I could be someone who could say 'You are wrong about the 6th Doctor Wayne'...But I can't....Really misguided direction they went with him I think. I can't think of one story which really stands out in his tenure. Definitely the weakest so far.
I am, however, really looking forward to, 'The End of Time' on Christmas Day! I have enjoyed David Tennant as The Doctor.
I always liked Sylvester Mccoy's Doctor....Curse of Fenrick and Silver Nemesis being higlights...Main downside...Bonnie Langford! She me want to gouge my eyes out.
