  • Hi Mate I got a question. I just purchased some '100w' HIDs of ebay for my car... There was no mention of 55w/35w on the advert description... Does this mean they will always run at 100w (i.e super bright)? Or is 100w referring to the maximum (high beam headlights) power? Thanks.

  • @Archaeopterynix hi, yeah HID's are a single beam only, they are not dimmable, either on or off, the 100w hids will be far too bright fro normal driving lights and i would only recommend them for off road or spot lights.. 35w is still very bright for normal headlights.

also 100w HID output is about 250w of halogen light eqivalent or around abouts. but anything above 35w un focused sharply towards the road will blind oncomming drivers.

  • @aussietraindriver Awesome thanks mate... Turns out they were 100w halogens... Would have deep fried my car... Managed to get a refund though. Thanks for the reply.

  • sounds somehow like a tank... ;-)

  • @PleaseDontBiteMe she is a diesel. :)

  • i'm finding a lot of conflicting information on the internet. Do 100W HIDs really run that might hotter than 55w halogen bulbs? I would think that since they're a lot more efficient, a lot less energy is wasted in heat. I want to put an HID kit in my 2008 cayenne, and I figure i may as well use 100w if possible. It has projectors that I can aim downward so i'm not blinding people.

  • @ryanazar They are not hotter than halogen globes for the same wattage, and the power to light output is much better than that of a halogen lamp. a 35watt HID kid over 55w halogen will be much better. my driving lights are 35W hid and 70w halogen headlights. and the HID far out performs the halogen lights.

  • excuse me, im want to purchase 2 new hallogen-xenonlook lights, i wonder what i should take, should i take the 12v 100w or the 12v 55w? and what should the difference be?

  • @pullzarNL Hi there, Halogen is different to HID - High intensity discharge. halogen has a filament that burns white, HID is an electrical arc that burns white. if you want a good kit for your car 55 watt HID is perfect and is far brighter than 55w halogen.

  • @aussietraindriver thanks alot sir!

  • woow

  • 80% just to show off. SImilar to chasing after high horsepower figures.

  • @menzerna1234 The difference here is i use these on the road. chasing high horsepower figures is usually reserved for track only cars.

these lights are now 3 x 100w - + 2 x 35 watt = 370w of total HID light. was also thinking of a LED lightbar on the roof. because you can never really have enough light.

  • Why is the video flipped?

    :)

  • @StrappingYL1 ???

  • @aussietraindriver

It was a purposely ignorant statement. In America we drive on the right side of the road. Purely ethnocentric humor. No offense intended.

  • @aussietraindriver Evidently... Strapping doesn't know what "Aussie" means.... LOL... Cheers Mate!

  • @StrappingYL1 I think youre talking about the road, hes probably in europe

  • Your adjustment is off. And that's an understatement.

  • HEY WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD JACKASS.... owait.

  • the higher wattage HID kits warm much faster than the lower ones, these heat fully in about 8 seconds, but initial burst is like a camera flash, to create the arc then it dulls until the arc reaches full voltage.

  • @aussietraindriver Awesome light for the poor bastard coming the other way lol

  • i hate that they take time to heat...I want somthing bright and also quick enough to flash

  • Yeaaaahhh wake up all the neighbors!

  • wow!! extremely bright! how many kelvins is it for the 100w????

  • @cageoneoone 5000 kelvin, 9000 lumens each x 3

  • It's the people like you that think they need all this light to drive at night I fucking hate. You know how annoying this kind of shit is when you're driving behind other drivers? Especially when the typical 4x4/truck drivers are complete asshole/douche bags and tailgate you with their bright ass un-necessary HID's. (not saying you are) but I hope this isn't how you drive every night. lol

  • @FATLACE420 I do alot of night driving, in country areas, i dont use these lights when close to other drivers. i once made the mistake of leaving them on and had a guy about 1000m ahead of me flash his hazards. i dipped them straight away, i have had the choice to HID my headlights but i chose not to as to be respectful to other drivers. these lights are near on unbeatable, and cheap insurance against smashing into a roo or something else on dark open roads at night..

  • @FATLACE420 you do know a majority of the time they are not driving with "bright ass lights" on dont you.... its because trucks tend to be higher then cars so their lights are aimed directly into your windows. also you must live in the city where street lights and buildings light up the night, where im from street lights are illegal and there is no major lighting in the area, you can barley see driving around at night.

  • hunting squirrels ?

  • even on youtube it looks bright... must be like daytime bright in real life...?

  • @posernotricer they are awesome in real life. my mate has 4 lightforce halogen lights on his ute, and these 3 shit all over them. i have 7 lights all up on my ute, 5 of which are HID.

  • @aussietraindriver i personally think that one can't compare the light output of halogens with HIDs...i got a 35 watt conversion kit for my headlights, and no...i don't blind oncoming drivers...and yes, they easily beat 55 watt halogen headlights...hehehe

easier on the eyes and you see more...and consumes less power...

  • thts sick..lol

  • much too bright i think. stick with 35 to 55w hid max

  • is it a good idea to put these in projector low beams?

  • for those who have given this the thumbs down, i have owned 100w halogen, 55w hid, 70w hid and now 100w hid, and i can tell you from experience these 100w hid's are brighter than any 12v light i have ever encountered.

i dont know the guy that sells them but they are pretty good, and they are fuking bright!

  • how much does this light system affect the fuel consumption?

does it cost a lot of horsepower, too?

  • @iwannabeyourdog90 Normal operating input voltage range 9V - 16V Time limited extended operating input voltage range 6V - 18V Starting input voltage 13.2V Nominal output power 95W-100W Low output power setting ~95W Maximum run up output power ~100W Maximum current after ballast saturation 7.8A Maximum inrush current at 13.5 V 12A-15A Efficiency of H3 Lamp and ballast at nominal supply 80% Ballast unit efficiency 87%
  • @iwannabeyourdog90 HID lights draw less power for thier output than the same wattage of a halogen globe, as there is no filament to heat up, it is an electrical arc that makes the light.

  • Buyer be warned. The difference from 75w to 100w is not that much. 100w ballasts are generally 24v. A lot of these ballasts with the big red 100W sticker are just relabelled 75W 12v kits. Be careful if buying these ballasts.

  • Back streets of wantirna?

  • @daw02 Yup..

  • what max wats legal in us

  • @dtmpowerboss not too sure, but these lights are about the max amperage for 12v

  • there is a guy that sells them, he is in australia - search HId lights downunder on google. he sells the 100w 12v kits, this is the brightest available for 12v

    cheers

  • Hey, great blulbs.

I want to buy 100 watt ones too. I don't have experience but as I guess I must buy a ballast also for each bulb, right? But I cannot see any 100 watt ballasts. There are lots of them on ebay but they are 35w or 55w.

    Any recommendations?

  • Hi, just curious, did you buy the 100w hids off eBay? If so what buyer.

  • @ID10Tpig No from this guy - hid-lightsdownunder. com. au

  • You have far too much time on your hands! haha

  • You dont have to go on holiday for a sun tan now. Just stand a few minutes in the drive way with those babys on lol.
