Watching this reminds me of the 1 year that I lived in St. Augustine. In the fall of '01 it flooded really badly. My old Volvo stalled out on King St. in almost knee deep water. Somehow I managed to get her started. I had to keep the pedal to the metal just to crawl through the water to keep her from stalling out. It looked like I was driving a boat with the waves I was making, lol. Somehow I made it back home. She ran like crap for two weeks after and smelled like a wet dog.
This is the normal here. You can set your clock by it. 100+ in the summer and terrential downpours and dangerous lightning by 5:00PM. Trust me, it's and every summer day occourance. Visit again and you'll see what I mean. Don't get excited, it's as common as snow in Colorado.
We were there this June and experienced something similar whilst on the jolly trolley! We did expect the driver to pull over but he just carried on with the commentary while we did our best to keep the kids from blowing away and the camera dry!
I too have been in St Augustine...I was first there on 3/24/69~! ((when gas was 36.9 cents/gallon)) Loved it there. On 5/4/78..I audiotaped some wild Tstorms while leaving St Augustine while on the highway.... when tornadoes struck Clearwater FLA very same day.... both long before your time, Charles!
OMG i remember that!!! i was camping in a trailor at north beach camp resort across the vilano bridge (or the usina bridge w/e u want to call it). i htought we were going to be washed away!
during night time, loud thunderstorms causes a disturbed sleeping!
i hate that kind of nature when loud thunderstorms was disturbing me while i was trying to sleep during a night time!
