This reader is broken, the light output that has the laser light is more powerful than to show there, is too weak. Change the reader and forget about that. Regules not nothing to be in vain.

I removed my laser & cleaned it -- OLD PS2

The connector lock pulls gently forward - like a drawer -

Black cover is plastic, and has clips that slip into slots on the metal chasis - ez to remove & replace -

I formed a Q-tip into the shape of an oar blade (thin) ...Top laser floats on very delicate springs -

Gently lift the top laser and cleaned the bottom laser - no need to take the laser apart -- just be GENTLE with it --

Put it back together, and viola!

No more Disc Read Errors !!

i Just Bought to ps2's that dont work .. just to see if i could fix them... so far nope i cant .... any help?? ... i tried cleaning them and doing that little rotating to white gear shit .. but they still dont read the discs

i have a silver slim ps2 and it just recently started makin the clicking noise when i play music cds. i havent treid dvds but regular ps2 games work fine.

u have to elevate the lens bar and try this several times till it read the dvd it is little tricky

before you buy a new ps2 tray puting some greace on the lenses path, the metal thing that the lens goes back and forth. that could be the problem because the lence sometimes gets stock. so if that dosnt work then buy a new ps2 if you want.

i agree with MolandYou, it`s your laser,

try cleaning the laser first then try to adjust the laser height with the white plastic gear wheel located on the back of the cd tray. you can also try to adjust the potentiometers. be careful not to adjust them more than the thickness of about 5 hairs or you will burn out the laser.

Mine won't play the disc with the purple bottom so I can't play my playstation 1 games but if you buy a slim sony fixed the proplem.

mine seems to spin fine but get the read dick error, music cds play fine but games will not play. i cleaned the lens and adjusted the wheel. even under the lens where the mirror is, but still on music cds play. anyone with suggestions

my ps2 the same model as yours had disck read error ev ery time i put a blue disk in the silver disks worked but blue didnt so i fixed it only worked 4 30 mins so i sold it lol and got a xbox 360 lol

yeah mate, your ps2 lost the power of light, well sometimes this happen when u use your ps2 long time.. the sony in fabrication of ps2, any ps2 got a laser with problems.. i dont know your ps2 is V7 or V6.. but u got a solution, go to ebay and by a new laser, and u have again your ps2 working;)

clean the laser and everything in the ps2 if it has dust on it and if that dont work then ajust where the laser is using the white gear at the back of the laser

NO!..dont let him lose money while he can fix this on his own ? i repaired my ps2 alot of times and my friends ps2 aswell..look for a online tech guide to help you its realy easy you just have to ajust your lense position again.

Try turning on the diagnosis setting on your PS2.Certain games like God Of War 2 are dual layer and very powerful and require some older model PS2's internal settings to be updated so it will play.

Mabe you can adjust the tilt. clean the guild arms ect... look for ps2 repair on youtube you can can find all kinds of stuff about your problem
