Dead Tour 2009 was the end. dont get me wrong i love Furthur. their lead guitarist is alloott better, but i miss drums and space, i miss mikey and billy
saw furthur last year and completly fell in love. yes, its different without jerry, but he is still there and you can feel his energy in everyone. i love the frequency everyones on at the shows
I went to 4 shows this time, and loved each one. My 1st time was seeing them at Woodstock in the shitty rain. After that I was hooked on watching them perform live, inside or outside. There is no time better spent than attending a Dead show, then-now-and forever. God Bless The Grateful Dead!
I paid $35 for my lawn tickets for this Thursday's Shoreline show. You don't have to pay $100 to be at the show. If you have to be up front in these venues then go right ahead and pay $100.
you know when someone says something in that very dry low key observational way and everybody is way out there and it's so funny all the minds explode in laughter echoing into cosmic beauty space and the room is filled with love? 1:14 peace.
One more thing black930t, in 1979 a gallon of gas was 80 cents, a concert ticket was about $10. Through the 80's I never paid more than $25 to see a Dead show. Can you tell me on that basis that everything costs 10 times more than in 1979 or even 4 times more than in the early 80's? I think not, I've made my point.
Give them a break.....the whole thing costs money. Let's just be grateful they are willing to "dust off those rusty strings just one more time" and enjoy the ride.
As far as charging $100 for a ticket I'll say this:
A lot of poor man make a $5 bill, keep him happy all the time, some of the fella's makin' nothin' at all, and you can hear him cry" It's hard times for a lot of folks right now, and this was not the time to gouge your fans. Shame on you. As far as tickets for charity, that's great. If someone gave me a miracle tick I'd turn around and sell it for what it's worth, $50, then give that to charity. I will NEVER pay to see them out of principle
Thanks for posting this. Can't wait till Greensboro. The guys are sounding great. Jerry we will miss you, but I'll bet you will be there in spirit. Easter Morning, celebrate the risen Christ, Easter night, jam with the Dead, theres something just right about that. I got the tye dye ready, lets go!
yay thats me at 2:09 rockin my lovely sunglasses, AMAZINGGGG SHOW!!!! one night with the dead was equivalent to a long vaca. i just remained on an intense high days and days and days after and the high returns just thinkin about it! :)
Saw Ratdog twice this year and both shows were 2 of the best I ever seen. The music is tighter without Jerry, hate to say it.. herion isn't good for music.
Hey guys keep the Dead Alive! BTW, please stay out of politics though. The last thing I want to hear is the buzz kill that comes along with listening to musicians (or some douche bag in the crowd) bitching about how they love obama (and other liberal BS) when the don't know what the "F" they are talking about. Please dont kill the vibe. Jerry would have never done that BS obama concert. Just shut up and do what you do the best: PLAY MUSIC! If we want to hear libs bitch, we will listen to NPR!
SERIOUSLY, they supported obama, as if it made one bit of difference which puppet gets elected president to the new world order... These guys are supposed to be anti-establishment yet are supporting the same fucks that the "establishment" are supporting. Stick to the music. BTW, hey bobby, what the fuck goes on at bohemian grove, i think its about time you talk about that...
Well Gumbow, Sounds like you really know what youre talking about? You speak for Jerry ( I don't thinh So). Get a life. They do what they do. You do what you do Bitch.
obviously this is a promo for the upcoming Spring Tour '09! too bad the Penn State Change Rocks for Obama footage didnt include the audience in the wide-open floor. we sure had it a-spinnin' and a-twirlin'! Thegood ole Grateful Dead will always remain an unbroken chain of love and music and love and music....
Great video, I am one of the young people he speaks about not being old enough to even have seen the grateful dead. I love all of your music, all the side gigs, everything announce the 2009 tour!! We want to come see you in most of the cities the music is still magical and we need it, all of you need to come play again!!!
they were assigned some brief moments in history and they tried to fulfill those moments the best they could. They succeeded beyond anyone's wildest expectations.

I used to pay $50 or $60 bux to get into a show 15 years ago. So $100 for a good night is cheap thrills to me. GET A JOB BOY

If Jerry were still alive he'd say "if you think I'll be a part of charging people $100 for a ticket, you can count me out".
