I made that curry, cashew, chicken meal once. I saw the recipe in backpacker last year.

Man there are some skeeters on that island. Great trip though & excellent footage.

@CampfireTalk Thanks! Ha! I think Packpacker is where they got the idea! How was it? I still haven't gotten to try it yet. Yea there were thick skeeters in some places, but others spots were pretty bug free.

@conleytgn It was good, I think I used raisins instead of dried cranberries mainly because I had them in the pantry. Try it out sometime, it makes a great trial lunch.

@Cr0cket20 Thanks! I'm really hoping those were "naturally occurring" pockets of warm. My swimsuit was also my hiking pants for every day!

Cool trip, hope ya all get to do more even if its day hikes. Ya only live once right?! Never been to the East myself, looks like a cool place though. Thanks for sharing, ya all look like cool folks to hang with and it looks like ya know how to have a good time for real. Take care!

@k6lsn Hey thanks! Yea we had a great time and fully intend to do more of this sort of thing. I wouldn't really call this area the "East," though. We're more "The Great Lakes Region." The Great lakes are a place like nowhere else on earth! I love it!

very nice. what was the temperature like...it looked like it was colder.

I liked the mines. allthough i am not particulary found of caves.

@SpartanJohns Thanks you! The temperature on the Island really varied from place to place and time to time. Near the lake shore it was really cool all day. Near the ridge it got really hot during the day. At night it got really cool the entire island over. They say Isle Royale makes it's own weather.

A great northern adventure, very good ya. Looks like a great time. What kind of video camera are you using? You said water proof?

@canesser1 Thanks! Yea I decided to buy only waterproof cameras since I'm in the outdoors so much. I have a sanyo xacti vpc-wh1 as my main camera, A kodak play sport as my pocket camera, and a GoPro helmet hero as my mounted/violent activity/underwater camera. All three are waterproof but the GoPro is the only one I actually take under the water. It's awfully nice not to have to worry about rain and snow though when I'm backpacking.
