I really don't see the point of owning an Xbox if it doesn't have many exclusives. Plus, with Bungie out the loop with Halo, what does the Xbox have left? Gears? Both are *very* good games, but with competitors pumping out exclusives of different genres like free candy, I don't see how the Xbox is going to survive. (Off topic, but the rumored/mostly confirmed Radeon graphics card is another low blow. MS is practically pulling a Wii & limiting the graphical potential so they can focus on casuals)

Its a good point Microsoft should make more exclusives or at leastb prepare them for next gen. there has been rumors that a New starfox game for the Wii U make come out which is pretty big given the fact that it is one of its big franchise and that it was a no show during the Wii years. Sony has exclusive but as you pointed out they dont sell as much as microsofts or nintendos. And 3ds has a great online for a handheld so i have a feeling that Wii U may bee maybe even better than live. lol

what I don't understand is that MS makes more money yet they have the least amount of games. The wii and ps3 have more games and the pc had more exclusives from 2008-2010 than the 3 console combined. Yet MS can't give many games regardless of making the most money? All MS has going for the 360 is kinect which so far has been a joke. Sure when the 360 came out it was awesome, nowadays its just a dust collector to me.
gears, lost odyssey, blue dragon are the only games on there I really care for and once windows 8 comes out which allows me to play these games on my PC I will never need a 360 again. That's probably my biggest gripe with the 360 and xbox in general. It all comes out on the pc anyway.

MS doesn't really know what to do in the gaming industry. They treat it like it's pure business. That's not healthy for anything, whether it be music, film, TV etc. Xbox should just be their last console. Thing is, exclusives aren't mass market. I like Sony exclusives like uncharted but they wouldn't get made if the consoel vendor wasn't making them because if you're an indie developer the cash is in multiplats. It's sad but I think you'll see more exclusive DLC for multiplats.

It really sucks. Consoles are great because of 1st party exclusives that PCs usually dont get. Microsoft at this point KNOWS that people will continue to buy 360 even though they wont get any exclusives from now on. IMO they should focus on the next xbox to be more practical for gaming rather than trying to be innovative(which they're not), giving fans what they want instead of this motion control bullshit that is called Shitnect.

Exclusives aren't helping Sony sell more systems than the competitors. Even with the 'greatest franchise ever made' Uncharted 3, the PS3 got trounced by the competition. Third parties helped Sony become what it is today and Microsoft is playing the game well. They are making a profit while the other companies are losing money. 360 gamers are happy with Skyrim, COD, Assassin's Creed, and other games. Only internet gamers really care about counting exclusives and they are irrelevant.

@BLACKB0ND new IP doesn't necessarily mean innovation. It just means a new face for a game. What gamers should be focusing on is new gameplay innovations. If you look at nitnendo sales track, you'll see that gameplay innovation sells better than IP innovatoin, and that's a credit to today's consumers if anything. It's easy creating a new IP, btu to make it successful is a whole other thing and sony hasn't been good enough in that department.
I still like the Xbox for some reason. And yeah, Nintendo has to give some IPs a break (like Zelda and Pokemon) and work on some newer projects or bring back some old classics. I'm givin them props for Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Obviously if this means that they're going to make sure the exclusives they do release are serious GOTY contenders, then I'll be a little more accepting of their decision. If the exclusives that come out are just 8/10 games that fall under the radar, then I'll be pissed.

New IP is not the smart move, they should have stuck with old IP. Sony to me seems to not be efficient with their resorses, I say that for both hardware and software sides. Aim lower, but stronger, is the way. It worked for them in the past, nothing to say otherwise.
@Paratrooper1n0 it's doing good now, but it's not doing amazing. They not gonna get the huge profits they got compared to last gen. They need to aim for that goal. I think it's smater to aim lower, like they did before. But I can't predict perfectly, they might have something under their sleeves to accelerate sales, we'll see.
@Paratrooper1n0 you also have to consider the high cost of the PS3. In retrospect, it just seemed like sony was shooting themselves in the foot when they decided to go premium. Premium is always a bad move in this day of age. It never works. Cause now sony is selling at a lower price but also a lower profit margin. They have their early losses to cover as well as the vita and psp baggage. It's not good. They need to go back to cheap consoles. PS4 should be low in graphics.
@2WIREG PS3 is not a failure. The console itself may not be making Sony profits, nor royalties from games. But the fact that the PS3 won the format war for Sony and that the PS3 is a vehicle for Sony in the digital market place is a big value to Sony. The PS3 will eventually reach PS2 success status. It will take longer only because it had stiff competition from Wii and Xbox 360.
@PATRIOT7ME First of all, I said small part. The transition from PS1 to PS2 was a slow transition. People were still buying PS1 consoles and games well even after PS2 were around. So in a very small way, the PS1 one caused the PS2 to sell less. If Sony had completely discontinued the PS1, the consumers would have had no choice but to save a little more and buy the PS2. PS1 did not cause a failure of the PS2, but it did in some ways effect the sales. U Dumbass.

I enjoy my PS3 the way I want to enjoy it. I have two. I use one for my movie theater and the other to game with. It is a fantastic gaming machine and a movie player for a home theater with 7.1 digital surround sound, and the picture quality is unmatched by any stand alone blu ray player.

I really don't see the point of owning an Xbox if it doesn't have many exclusives. Plus, with Bungie out the loop with Halo, what does the Xbox have left? Gears? Both are *very* good games, but with competitors pumping out exclusives of different genres like free candy, I don't see how the Xbox is going to survive. (Off topic, but the rumored/mostly confirmed Radeon graphics card is another low blow. MS is practically pulling a Wii & limiting the graphical potential so they can focus on casuals)

Exclusives aren't helping Sony sell more systems than the competitors. Even with the 'greatest franchise ever made' Uncharted 3, the PS3 got trounced by the competition. Third parties helped Sony become what it is today and Microsoft is playing the game well. They are making a profit while the other companies are losing money. 360 gamers are happy with Skyrim, COD, Assassin's Creed, and other games. Only internet gamers really care about counting exclusives and they are irrelevant.

If you look at nitnendo sales track, you'll see that gameplay innovation sells better than IP innovatoin, and that's a credit to today's consumers if anything. @GlockNinja do you honestly think sony can match PS2 sales with PS3, even in a decades time. I don't think. Sony's goal should be to better themselves, right now it's just to avoid the red. New IP is not the smart move, they should have stuck with old IP. Sony to me seems to not be efficient with their resorses, I say that for both hardware and software sides. Aim lower, but stronger, is the way. It worked for them in the past, nothing to say otherwise.

I think it's smater to aim lower, like they did before. But I can't predict perfectly, they might have something under their sleeves to accelerate sales, we'll see.

@Paratrooper1n0 you also have to consider the high cost of the PS3. In retrospect, it just seemed like sony was shooting themselves in the foot when they decided to go premium. Premium is always a bad move in this day of age. It never works. Cause now sony is selling at a lower price but also a lower profit margin. They have their early losses to cover as well as the vita and psp baggage. It's not good. They need to go back to cheap consoles. PS4 should be low in graphics.

@2WIREG PS3 is not a failure. The console itself may not be making Sony profits, nor royalties from games. But the fact that the PS3 won the format war for Sony and that the PS3 is a vehicle for Sony in the digital market place is a big value to Sony. The PS3 will eventually reach PS2 success status. It will take longer only because it had stiff competition from Wii and Xbox 360.

@PATRIOT7ME First of all, I said small part. The transition from PS1 to PS2 was a slow transition. People were still buying PS1 consoles and games well even after PS2 were around. So in a very small way, the PS1 one caused the PS2 to sell less. If Sony had completely discontinued the PS1, the consumers would have had no choice but to save a little more and buy the PS2. PS1 did not cause a failure of the PS2, but it did in some ways effect the sales. U Dumbass.

And I truly believe if Microsoft was such a reach company, they wouldn't need to nickel and dime their gaming customers with Xbox Live fees. @SGTBLACK0UT PC gaming has flaws too. You can spend triple the amount on hardware and still get lack luster performance. I am not concerned with sales or how other people use their PS3. I enjoy my PS3 the way I want to enjoy it. I have two. I use one for my movie theater and the other to game with. It is a fantastic gaming machine and a movie player for a home theater with 7.1 digital surround sound, and the picture quality is unmatched by any stand alone blu ray player.
