  • We're gonna carry that weight

  • goddamn this music is powerful..if i were a lesser man at 3:20 through the rest of the song id cry like a bitch..

  • im so free

  • For me, it doesn't matter if he's alive or not. That doesn't mean he didn't make an impact on me, I think either way was a fitting end for a person like Spike. If he's really dead, he went out with a bang.

  • 22 people disliked this song because it made them cry for three weeks in front of their friends and family.

  • Damn it... I cried again. After watching it so many times I still cannot keep from crying.

  • Bang....

  • @117ty FUCKING HELL.... THAT MADE ME CRY EVEN HARDER THEN WHEN THAT OTHER GUY SAID: You're gonna carry that weight.

  • This was the song that played in my head when I learned that SOPA and PIPA were withdrawn.

  • You're gonna carry that weight.

  • I think I accidentally hit the like button three times as soon as the video started playing. (For serious)

  • I want to listen to this song while running in the rain.

  • this song makes me really realize how short life is

  • Sigh,...Im only happy when Im drunk.

  • damn!! why did he have to die!!!

  • @urinalturd true but, if he didnt, the ending wouldnt have been that great and this song wouldnt have as much of an impact on us

  • this song is much more than part of an Anime OST, This song is a timeless masterpiece.

  • Cried first time I heard this. Now I just get chills all the time. :]

  • Holy shit man,i cried :( ahhh it feels good...

  • i have this song on my ipod

  • One day, when I have kids, I'll gather the entire series, and have them watch it, and tell them "These people know how to live their life, without regret, and they know to never leave anything unfinished, that's how I wish I could live, and that's how I want you to live". Then, when they're adults and have moved out of the house, I'll be proud, and on the day of my funeral, I'll have this song played, and I'll smile down upon them and thank them for doing what I couldn't.

  • @MrOppourtunity Man, I got chills reading this.

  • @MrOppourtunity As much as I love them, They are flawed people, With alot of regret. But it is a great lesson towards living your life the best you can, by you and FTW.

  • @MrOppourtunity That's so weird. I decided this was the only song I wanted played at my funeral as well. Such an oddly specific coincidence!

  • @MrOppourtunity ....as you lay upon your deathbed...and prepare to pass on....your kids will crowd around you...and thank you for showing them something that chaged their lives...or atleast inspired them.....as you close your eyes...the toughest will lean next to you....and whisper those famous words...he know you will want to hear...See ya space cowboy....

  • @MrOppourtunity and when I'll have the oppurtinty to do the same with my kids someday,I'll tell them that it was the great comment of a youtube user that made me do that, and raise a glass on you

  • @MrOppourtunity and then your kids will go "wow my dad is a fucking fag"

  • @MrOppourtunity That's kind gay.

  • @MrOppourtunity God, I hope you mean the people who made the thing and not the cartoon characters.

  • @MrOppourtunity i know exactly what u mean

  • @MrOppourtunity WTF you travel a lot with your mind xD By the way cool thougt, but be sure your childrend do not start smoking and drinking a lot after watching this beautiful anime! xD

  • I sometimes look towards the sky and wonder why I'm not dead yet........then I bump into people who inspire my life so much....I look at them...and understand why I'm still alive....God has a plan.....don't sweat it...its under control space cowboy......

  • A child's rhyme is stuck in my head

It says that life is but a dream

I spent so many years in question

To find out that I knew this all along..

  • @Zoujen If you like that bit, listen to BT - Forget Me and in the end there is a bit where his daughter sings a bit that is absolutely paralyzing, because it's sung by a child.

  • Thumbs up if you are listening to this on christmas eve´s day

  • GAAHHH WHY IS TH?IS SO DEPRESSING >.<!!!! love the song though just make you think about dying and what ifs and all that stuff its freaky man just whoa...ok im done XD

  • You're gonna carry that weight.

  • @KlaykidReal DAMN IT now I'm crying even harder after that reminder of the little caption at the end....

  • Last verse gives me chills...>..< great ost

  • This is the only song that always makes me cry.

  • great series, great OST.

  • It's easy we don't like to listen the true

  • I think the last line of the song is just beutiful...

  • Bang

  • @private9942 None of that is true.

  • @Samuraishell yes it is i got half of that from cowboy bebop wiki a simple Google search confirmed most of it try researching before you just say its not true

  • @private9942 The wiki mentions nothing about that, nor does the movies' wiki. I read them both twice, and there was no mention of anything that you said.

  • @private9942 He almost died about 3 times, both in the series and refernced, he was definitely intended to die in the end.

  • Every time I hear this song I start to cry because it reminds me that Spike is gone.

    And Cowboy bebop has ended.

  • @MissMayakashi I couldn't agree with you more

  • Comment removed

  • I figured out how I want to leave this world.

I want to die like Spike. Let's say he did die. [I don't think he died]

I would want to die just like him. I want to go to the work one of my closest friends and pretty much destroy the place. Then have a fight scene with my ex-friend. Then I'd kill the person and then I'd die out with a bang and fall. Then this song will play.

    Got that world?

I want to die just like my hero/dream guy , Spike Spiegel. <3 <3 <3

  • I want this played at my funeral...

  • Where's your messiah?

    W00t

  • Cowboy Bebop has the ability to express all the emotional needs of the human body. Justice, peace, love, hatred, fear, etc. This is when anime used to have more than one inner meaning, like the facets on diamonds; it let you interpret what you saw. Bravo.

  • Bang...

  • You're gonna carry that weight...

  • See yah, Space Cowboy...

  • I was, for a long time, under the assumption that Call me was the greatest thing that the Bebop soundtrack had to offer.

    Then I heard Blue <3

  • @ilkidi and there are so much more check my playlist i grabbed what i loved from the series so far and im still finding music i need from it.. my playlist for this is bebop.

  • Bang

  • l agree with Lord ford, don't piss away your life and if you have to die do it for something worth dying for.

  • I hope the world won't end in 2012...I want to see what the world will be like in 2071

  • @Killbore1 funny to think that by that time i'll have the age of those old guys

  • @dragonbaas Do you play chess? :)

  • @Killbore1 Of course the world can't end!

Well I don't want it to end either that is.

I want to see if there will be a Spike Spiegal! : D then I'm going to find the Bebop ship, then find the Bebop crew. Then my life would be complete <3

  • This is the way i'd really like to die.... If I'm dying i'll wish somebody play the song in that moment

  • I know everyone is all, "I want this played at my funeral." but I really would if it weren't for the lyrics. They express the happiness of finally being released from the Earth, but I can't agree with that.

I like everything how it is. You gotta take the elation with the tragedy, the hopes with the despairs. All the good and all the bad.

And I'd really have it no other way.

Life is just so amazing, don't squander it.

  • @LordFrood How old are you?

  • @PhazonElitist 18, why?

  • @LordFrood I think that once you become just a little older (really, just a few years, though I'm surprised you haven't already understood this), and life inevitably beats you down, chipping away at you day by day, you'll find that life is not as valuable or as interesting as you think it is right now. You'll understand the appeal of a release from life.

  • @PhazonElitist

I think that it's more mature and grown up to put up with all the shit and take life as it is rather than be happy to die and get away from all of the hardships.

I'm not saying your opinion isn't valid, let's call it a clash of creeds, if you will.

  • @LordFrood

Nothing personal but it sounds like just self righteous justification.

Your right in that it takes true strength to get up once your beaten down and out(either that or stupidity) but thats mostly the only choice we have in this world..

  • @PhazonElitist agreed

  • @PhazonElitist You're pretty young, aren't you? 19-22? Shit sucks when you're that age. Hell shit sucked for me from the start, I had an awful childhood. Maybe it's just low expectations, but I think the older you get the more you appreciate things. When you're a kid you take everything for granted, and if things don't go your way you don't see the point in sticking around. Stick around anyway, you'll find it.

  • @TheBaron87YT

Looking at the state of various economies and the like I would say our generation has a bit of justification to be dismal and I would hate to see things 20 years down the road from now.

Have to disagree about kids taking things for granted as looking back it would seem our older generation took things for granted more so than us and damned their future generations though I agree to live on.

We humans don't really have a choice but to deal with the cards we are given after all.

  • @camil2003 You can travel in hours what would take YEARS only a few hundred years ago. You can condition the air to the temperature and humidity of your liking on demand. Your water is cleaned before it even reaches you, and your waste is carried away with the press of a lever. You can create light wherever you wish. You're whining about nothing on something that could process the ENTIRETY of human literature to date in mere minutes, and THEY'RE the ones that took things for granted?

  • @TheBaron87YT

    Try the economy genius.

Most of my generation don't even have a job much less a future and don't even have access to various opportunities that many old folks had back in the 50s.

Blessed to have a job but its nice that you think I figure inventions.

  • @TheBaron87YT

Yeah but I sure am whining about our ever collapsing economies in Europe and in the united states, the uncertainty of my generation or even the next generations ride, or the ever increasing police state in America.

I guess thats just an old person thing.

"You young people sure have it easy compared to us.."

Nah that would be an insult as even my grandparents understand that each generation has difficulty that comes.

  • @camil2003 Yeah, all the generations have some kind of difficulty, but you know what's happening to the human population? It's growing. Not shrinking or staying the same, it's getting bigger. You can talk about classes or regions or whoever else happens to be on the bottom of the top at the moment, but that doesn't mean the whole generation is screwed up. Your ride? So, what, the world sucks because you can't live off the work of your parents? It's not the generation that sucks, just you.

  • @TheBaron87YT

Usually I try to be civil but forget it.

    Man fuck you.

Your just sitting around putting words in my mouth.

I'm not saying to live off the working of anybody and you know what jerk off I have my own place and living.

My parents actually taught me the value of hard work and getting by on my own because you can rely on anybody worth a shit.

I didn't say the whole generation is screwed but hell things will be rough and I never said anybody had it worse than anybody else..

  • @TheBaron87YT

Yes every generation has it difficult and that was my damn point to you before you brought up the advancement bullshit. You're the one who came in acting like this generation has nothing to worry about and lives in a fantasy land. Hell I even agreed with you in the end.

For better or worse humanity deals with what cards are given as nobody can choose the time they are born or the situation.

Its what makes me have deep respect for humanity most of the time.

  • @camil2003 Seems like I'm just getting you and Phazon up there mixed up a bit. You're not straight out suicidal but you have still been saying pretty nihilistic things like "Doesn't much matter what expectations I live up too or even what I accomplish as the worst that happens is I'll die and then nothing else matters and I'll be forgotten," and "it would seem our older generation took things for granted more so than us and damned their future generations." I don't feel very "damned."

  • @TheBaron87YT

Sorry about the insults earlier but I just get miffed when people put words in my mouth and us shaming language on me. I'll admit what I said had a bit of nihilism to it but so what?

I see so many people who have even a bit worrying about things they have no control over and not enjoying anything and I was the same way until I realized hey I'm happy now and all I can do is enjoy it while taking the lumps. Ever since then I spend time with my family and laugh alot easier.

  • @TheBaron87YT

The things you quoted which I said were the truth.

Some of our known innovators died and were boo hooed for a week or two then were quickly forgotten.

And even if we have history figures who were remembered its still a low chance that people will be remembered for long. Not saying for people to go kill themselves but I'm saying that sometimes its alright to put the worry aside and enjoy life as it has some good to it despite the bad and depending on your outlook we only get one.

  • @PhazonElitist

I agree but thats what maybe makes life interesting.

Realizing that its worthless and in a way it freed me.

Doesn't much matter what expectations I live up too or even what I accomplish as the worst that happens is I'll die and then nothing else matters and I'll be forgotten.

I'm around 22 myself and will be 23 this coming December.

  • My best friend's Father just passed away after being in the ER since Thursday noon... and this song popped into my head. His Dad really was the most awesome, kindest, coolest Dad I've ever met. He will be missed very much... :*(

  • This song makes me cryin... the way is blue... but on end all waiting for u is the deadth...

  • between cowboy bebop, samurai champloo and wolfs rain -- gets me every time

  • maybe one day i can die just as he did, with a past thats been dealt with, and i can finally smile.

  • @stevefx14 i'm scared of dying though

  • it's the best anime for me a good story good music and an epic end ...a sad end but THE END

  • see you in an another world space cowboy

    BANG!!!

  • Anime + Music . . .

    ._."

The best way to reminisce is to follow their composers and the soundtracks.

  • 20 fuckers dislike this song gotta carry some weight now!

  • Life is short, live in the moment and love what you do. All the riches in the world cannot make you happy. Only a full heart can. See you space cowboy.

  • @TheFly212 tht is perhaps the most true thing i have heard in a while, it almost brings tears to my eyes thinking about it.

  • I remember the end of the last session as the first time a song made me cry

  • Do people understand what the term "You're gonna carry that weight" ..... its more than an obvious Beetles reference...... Spike carried a large burden on his shoulder, and death was a release from the dream he was living. Now that he is dead, we are going to emotionally carry his weight. because we know everything he went through.

  • @mikhailstewart Hell ya, Spike carried a cross basically. XD

  • @mikhailstewart Another interpretation is the Karmic weight he's been trying to pay off, or the Syndicate "Saving" him and propping him up, trying to use him as a leader.

  • @mikhailstewart The whole series can be interpreted differently, "You're gonna carry that weight" can be thought of in many different ways, the one i originally thought was he died with the weight of all he left behind on him, he had friends who cared for him on the bebop that would never see him again and hes going to carry the weight of what he did to them

  • @MrTsorge watching the series for the countless time.... i agree with you on the point that Spike cared for his friends and thats why he made that decision to deal with his past but at the same time, its not in Spikes nature to let anyone deal with something like that with him.he had to do it alone. I think all the burden that he experienced is off his shoulder and we are the ones who have to carry it, .he didn't say "I am gonna" but "your gonna".. just my opinion.

  • @mikhailstewart

Not to mention Jet and especially Faye, such a melancholy story.

  • As soon as I heard that Steve Jobs (RIP) died, this song started playing in my head. He's definitely gonna carry that weight :(

  • watch?v=nXO7Ahkghvg

  • @xxxraluchanxxx the whole song should be in the nonexistant language in my oppinion

  • what's the language in the intro?

  • @xXxRaluChanxXx a sort of celtic language made up by Yoko Kanno herself, I guess. Several of her songs are written in that nonexistant language. Think of it as scat.

  • @radicaledward84 Thanks for the reply. It'a a pity that the lyrics are invented, I would have loved to know their meaning.

  • @xXxRaluChanxXx Maybe there's a meaning. It's a made up language but there's a song in Cowboy Bebop written in the same language that has the current japanese translation on the CD booklet. But I guess we could only ask Mrs. Kanno - or be happy with the sound of her alter-ego Gabriela Robin singing wonderful invented sounds.

  • <3 Damn ive been lookin for this song for 3 years when i first actually heard it from a Tokyo Mew Mew tribute to the aliens and i use to always sing it, it would onlu have that little starting bit, then i stopped lisening to it n thne forgot about it, i tired aaages ago to find it but i couldnt remember it, NOW I FOUND IT! yay! ^_^

  • Life could never be the same after Bebop...

  • I always imagine me laying on my dead dying, and at the last moment I raise my hand in a gun and "Bang!". I died the song start playing with sun ray shining down at me. :)

  • @aminoacid1648856 dumb -_-

  • If I ever kill myself it's going to be while I'm listening to this song.

  • 20 ppl were born with severe hearing impairment

  • The best anime ever

  • the best anime ever!!!!

  • Bang...

  • 'wanna be free'

    chills everytime

  • is this Nier?

  • @draageel Read the title..Cowboy Bebop.

  • This song still gets to me. Damn good ending.

  • cocks /catv/ I mad.

  • Shit /atv/, I mad.

  • Damn /tv/ i mad.

  • Fuck /v/, I mad.

  • A guy with cancer, who had 3 months left to live posted about it on /v/.

He told them never to change, he loved them just the way they are.

The thread ended with a link to this song.

    We love you too, OP.

  • To the people still arguing about Spike being dead...yes....Watanabe pretty much confirmed it in an interview (somethng to do about a trip to The Houston Museum of Natural Scince) and said to the question "Is Spike Dead?" "If i answered that, people would hate me" If you dont believe me...go to jazzmess.com and click news on the right hand side.....scroll down.

  • "Its all...just a dream." "Yeah...just a dream"

  • 19 people didn't carry that weight..

  • Why cant that idiot tell us if spike is dead or not, IT'S HIS OWN FUCKING SHOW!!!!!!!!!!

  • @microsoftnerd4life he obviously died, he doesnt want to tell us so the few fucking idiots that accually think hes alive can still hope, shows are ended like this alot, so people can kind of make their own ending, even though, like i said above, its obvious he died

  • @WTFate He dies from stab wounds, yet survives falling from a fucking church window, being blown up on a train and being shot god knows how many times.

  • @microsoftnerd4life he gots stabbed various times, shot, and all around beat up, he collapsed at the end with the people trying to kill him all around him, if he didnt die from all that shit, they finished him, he died, get over it

  • @WTFate Piss off, I'm greiving

  • @WTFate Whoever kills the Syndicate leader becomes the leader so thats not true, they cant kill their leader

  • Comment removed

  • You're gonna carry that weight

  • @CraigKruegger The weight of your body and ispirit along all your life.

  • bittersweet end :( .....i can sleep!

  • @bono300vox don't worry niether can i

  • The intro gives me the impression of a lightly cloudy sky right after rain.

  • What language is this in?

  • Once there was a way to get back homeward, Once there was a way to get back home. Sleep pretty darling do not cry, And I will sing a lullaby. Golden slumbers fill your eyes, Smiles awake you when you rise. Sleep pretty darling do not cry, And I will sing a lullaby. Boy, you're gonna carry that weight, Carry that weight a long time! Boy, you're gonna carry that weight, Carry that weight a long time! RIP Spike
  • This song is seriously beautiful. I listened to the whole thing in the last episode, right up to "You're gonna carry that weight." The last episode was tragically spectactular, definetly one of the best endings to anything I have ever seen.

I want this song to play at my funeral, no joke.

  • i love it

  • Spike =>.......... BANG !

    Mafia : OO / Oo / oO

  • reminds me of ICO

  • Every time I hear this song, I see Spike, I hear 'bang' and then it's over - I start crying. Never fails. This series is something good, especially when it can make you emotional even after all this time.

  • @phbtonyou I get bothered by how emotional it actually is. I've never had a work of fiction make me feel that way.

  • @phbtonyou in a way... its a happy ending for him...

  • Yeah, i saw the message at the end..."You're gonna carry that weight."

i realized what it meant... it hit me hard

  • spike was my favorite tragic hero, his decision is often debatable to whether it was wrong or right but it was indeed memorable and life inspiring.

imo, the coolest characters are the ones that die at the end and we didn't want them to.

  • 17 people couldn't carry that weight.

  • If I could sky dive and listen to any song while doing it, this would be it, no contest.

  • I remember listening to this song when I couldnt sleep and it got the job done.

  • The song fits the ending so perfectly

  • This should become a classic of modern songs.

  • Everytime the guitar kicks in I get tears in my eyes ;_;

  • I hate this song...not because i dont like samurai champloo because i cant accept the fact Spike died.

  • @MuffinMan6k you mean Cowboy Bebop?

  • @ryuzakifreak14 yeah i was thinking of a different anime at that time XD

  • @MuffinMan6k lol it's cool I know exactly what you mean though, for me I hardly ever watch the last two episodes because they make me too sad, this song is still pretty though.

  • @ryuzakifreak14 You know i said i hate this song and the reason why, but i cant stop listening too it..

  • @MuffinMan6k strange isn't it? Me neither...

  • @flamespyro1 he's pretty dead but he's still cold no doubt see yea space cow boy you'll be missed but never forgotten
