  • KIRO's "7" logo shown in '85 was the same one that they would use until 1993 during The Spirit Of The Northwest era.

  • 1:39... Crazy Gene Snyder!!

  • Anyone have the ""We've Got the Touch" promo that aired on WABI-TV Channel 5 (from Bangor, Maine)? In Atlantic Canada, that was our CBS affiliate available on cable up to 1985, when it switched to WJBK. (I wasn't alive then, I just read it through Wikipedia.)

  • @sygo7g Yes, and I had WTOL in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador (where I'm originally from) from 1995 to 1997 on our local cable system (Cable Atlantic, before ex-Premier Danny Williams sold it to Rogers Cable).

  • do you have other two affiliate versions of WBMG in Birmingham. AL (now WIAT) and WAGA-TV in Atlanta, GA (now a Fox affiliate)

  • In This Clip, From 2:01 To 2:31, It Was WFSB-TV's Stay In Touch Video Promo From Late 1985.

  • @radiodj1520 Uh... I didn't know! - Inteliivision Kid

Seriously, quit pointing out the obvious.

  • In This Clip, From 0:00 To 1:01, It Was KIRO-TV's We've Got The Touch Video Promo From Late 1985.

  • do you have the other three affiliate versions of KFDA in Amarillo, TX, KHOU in Houston, TX, and KECY-TV in El Centro, California/Yuma, Arizona (now KECY is a Fox affiliate)

  • sounds like kenny rogers!

  • That's because it is.

  • @halenfanatic its thats gayle king

  • @Adrianbush17 I'm only familar with WTOL. Yeah that looked like that broad on Oprah

  • Yeah i'd like to see some more footage from WTOL

  • Now just one question-- of those three promos, which one was better for you?

(Personally, for me, I liked KIRO's the best, although it's nice to see the quiz shows in WTOL's version, too.)

  • at 1min and 22sec you see Bob Barker back in 1985

  • Yep.

WJBK in Detroit (than a CBS affiliate, and now a Fox owned and operated station) did not have their own version of 'We've Got the touch.' However, WJBK did have their own version of Reach for the Stars and Great Moments, which were two of CBS' slogans from the early 1980s.

  • I take that back, WJBK did have the 1984 version of We've Got the Touch. "We've Got the Touch, You and Channel 2"

  • And eyeontv has the WJBK version in a montage of custom versions of "Reach for the Stars", the others being KDFW (also now with Fox) in Dallas and KNXT (now KCBS) in L.A.

  • at 1:45, you see WTOL's logo from 1985. To me, that looks pretty cool! Why didn't they keep it? :)

  • Looks like each station could customize the campaign, focusing more on programming or more on newscasts etc.

  • Hmm... wonder why WFSB didn't want "The Gambler" singing in their version...

Anyhoo, just wanted to mention that Channel 3 turned 50 a few months ago... and I believe they're still #1 in terms of newscasts for Connecticut.

  • Ahhh, "Toledo 11." Even though I never resided in Toledo, OH, I loved the game show promos on that station. KIRO's promo was great, and so was channel 3's.

  • And it's nice to see "Crazy Gene" jump out of his seat on Press Your Luck in the WTOL clip.

BTW, if I'm not mistaken, both Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune still air on "Toledo 11" to this day, based on the info I read about it.

  • KIRO's "dream team" of Gary Justice (waiting for the Seattle Waterfront Streetcar, which was fairly new at the time) and John Marler (at the house with the moving van) are featured in the first spot. Marler would leave for WABC later that year.

  • Listening to this again, I realized that they edited in the custom references to KIRO so seamlessly that it's difficult to tell that Kenny Rogers isn't singing on some of those parts.

  • Sweet, dude! Channels 3, 7, and 11 had some great promos for the 1980s. :-)

  • I'd love to see the one for WJBK in Detroit.

  • The one that says "We've got the touch on Channel 2"?

  • One of them was "You and Channel 2, We've got the touch."

  • That would be the 1984 version, based on the lyric setup.

  • Didn't remember the time, but okay. :-)
