First time I've seen this match and it really has some great stuff.

Muta's character is wonderful, and I've always liked Tajiri ever since I saw him in WWF the few times I watched that as a kid. Character and story wise he was used horrifically badly but even as a kid I could tell he was great at what he did and his style was so different from most of the other wrestlers there that it really stuck with me.

@Phoenix7786 Have you explored Muta's backlog since seeing this match? He's got a great history. This match really wasn't his best wrestling work, as it was more comedy than anything else, but his matches with Tajiri were still very fun to watch. Thanks for the upload.

Fun match. Loved the shenanigans under the ring and the use of the mist by both. I don't watch too much Japanese wrestling, but I love me some Great Muta and Tajiri. Both guys are great, Tajiri is pretty much a complete package, and Muta is just all kinds of badass, such a cool character/look and solid in the ring, too. Good stuff, thanks for posting it.

Yes it was; that's one of Muta's set-in-stone move sequences, much like John Cena's FU is often unneccesarily followed up with the STFU or Angle would bust out the Angle slam only to go for the Ankle lock.

But I got this match after playing through Tekken DR and learning that Armour King was based on Great Muta a little. After seeing the original uploader's video get lost I started looking for a download of it.

Yeah; Tajiri has always had great kicks. If I recall, he (like a decent chunk of kickers) wears a special kind of padded shoe to help absorb blows so he can deliver some stiff looking kicks..

That is called Mist. Basically, it's something that "Mysterious" wrestlers are understood to use, similiar in concept to American audiences believing in Undertaker and Kane's ability to get right up from attacks.

Typically, green and red are used. The wrestler spits it at an opponent, which typically stuns or otherwise distracts them.

The wrestlers carry it in their trunks, mouth, or ring anf put it in sometime discreet. They usually make some kind of gesture or motion before spitting it.

Well you can download Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium for a super nintendo emulator and find a patch to translate it. They have classic Muta and the create a character is not bad at all. It wouldn't take long to create a fairly decent current Muta.

Yeah it's unfortunate to see how much age has sapped out of him. No more springboard elbow, no more Muta Lock, no more fliiping over the top rope as his entrance. He still has without a doubt one of the coolest growls I think.
