  • you do not play in the whl, your brutal

  • What's with the negative shit about Luongo? he's olympic champion for a reason...

However yes I agree with most of the comments, this technique is rediculous.

  • who stops onetimers like that?! that's retarded

  • @bradenreimer its so fucking wierd

  • @bradenreimer i know antii niemi does it a similar way. :)

  • Or, you can use the lateral transfer rotation which also allows for speed, reach, and better recovery than what you see in the vid above.

    Sorry Mr. Chapman, no offense!

  • Desperation saves being taught at goalie schools... not pretty, and not something I would need to learn.. its kind of a second nature thing.

  • i actually did a couple times and it worked, but yeah i dont think you should practice this cause practicing this is like practicing a last effort chance at blocking the puck, theres jus no need for it

  • lol , wdf is this for

itz not like that ur going 2 fkn do that in a game

    itz RETARDED !!!!!

what would he do if it was going for top shelf

    DUM FK !

  • you should never, EVER have to use that technique.

  • it is such a technical move that you will probably only use it a few times, but that could be the difference in a win or a lose potentially

  • its a dsperation save technique, Luongo uses sumthing similar all the time except Luongo falls on his butt, Jean paul (JP Chapman) is atleast being taugh to keep ur chest down for a faster get up time, this is for a quick one timer pass to the back door, it definitly isnt useless you have no idea what your talking about

  • Agreed. I've used several times for when my defense plays like shit.

  • Luongo has NHL defenceman and NHL defensive systems to protect him. And Luongo is overrated!

Boys and girls, ladies and gentleman. Do NOT ever do this! The butterfly is just as fast, covers more net, and doesn't over commit you.

Notice where the coach keeps shooting the puck. A butterfly has the pad in the exact same location but takes the upper part of the net away, and again, and just as importantly allows you to recover and move for the next save.

  • @beAutifulbiker11

    your an idiot. lol

  • i agree with the other comments that have been made. this drill is useless and it will only get you into a whole lot of trouble. try to keep your upper body in a upright position and remember keep gloves up and stick down

  • i agree this is the most wasteful use of time, energy and money . these instructors should be ashamed of themselves.

  • its only to block the pass from behind the net you need to be quick as a cat like this guy.....MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!MEOW!

  • lolz kittyz

  • this the fucken retarded.. why the hell would you do that?

  • why would you want to learn a move like that, that has to be the stupidest move iv ever seen like all they would have to do is shoot high on you

  • Why are u wasting your money at a place that is teaching u shit like this..?

  • Ya JP!!!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!

  • You wouldn't believe the technical training these guys teach. This is a desperation move taught just so if the time is needed can be used

  • Yeah this realy is "Goalie Training at Magic Hockey" :D

1st. time is see this drill!!

  • WoW you should go get your money back

  • wat a fuckin useless drill

  • This is fuckin retarded, it makes no sense whatsoever, anyone who is anygood will roof that,

or pass it, or just go around you - its the dumbest drill i think i've ever seen, and the only thing your accomplishing there, is training bad habits

  • What the fuck is that drill

  • JP u fricken rock

  • ur 5 hole coverage aint realie that good in the butterfly..no offence, and this drill doesnt reali acheive anything, i mean fair enough, if its a desperation save, and u aint got nothin left, but a normal b.fly would do ...

  • What kind of drill is that???? Pointless!!!

And someone's paying this guy to teach that crap.....

  • Who's idea was it to teach this useless skill? Butterfly slide would be the best way to do it, but if you really wanted to you could at least two pad drop. That way you can at least cover some of the top area of the net and if they pass back or shoot higher you can roll your ass over and hope to stop it like that.

But despite the uselessness.. it was done well in the vid =)

  • If you mean a two pad stack, that would be just as pointless. If the player decides to pass across, you're screwed... and same if you don't freeze the puck and let out a big rebound you're way out of position.

I agree with everyone who says the butterfly slide is the way to go. This drill should NOT be taught to young up and coming goalies.

  • this drill is kinda pointless, cause if u do that and the person with the puck decides to pass it back to the kid, ur kinda fucked!

  • omg this is so funny, this must be the worst goalie camp ever...

why dont you just butterfly slide over like a normal person?

  • wow, what are they teaching you.. any decent player could easily place it top shelf because yur sparled on the ice

  • This is scary

  • wow that is the worst goaltending drill i've ever seen, once you get to Jr.A or OHL you will get scored on everytime

  • k well i think your good :)]

as goalies we gotta be ready for anything

so it's good to get a variety of different techniques down

it may be used minimally but you'll know what to do when the time comes.

  • What the hell is he trying to teach you guys??

  • hold your stick

  • he could easily go rite aruond u if u were smart enough

  • hes good except he cant hold the stick. cross the fingers aroung it man. its not so hard

  • any good player would shoot right away and not roof it

there for JP is doing the right thing but getting over and takeing away lower half incase of a bobbled pass or something

angelo si hte shit he teaches the best shit so dont hate

  • this looks fun to practice!

  • don't drop your stick (if u must do that desperation move, don't if you learn how to do something better. But seriously, I see no reason to just drop your stick making that save.

  • dude, you are lke a robot.react to the puck.all your doing in this drill is blindly sliding.REACT!!!

  • any good player would roof it on u if u did that

  • Ummm I don't know what this person is teaching you but your one slow ass goalie ahaha.

  • actually no i play junior A hockey... and he works your ass off. he coaches you at the ability you play, not just doing the same thing over again...

  • angelo is the best man he has been my coach fo about 2 years. angelo is the reason i play in the legue i do

  • What league? Old mans league where everyone skates two miles per hour?

This is fucking worthless. Save selection like this should not be practiced. It is a desperation save. Oh and STAUBER'S GOALCREASE kicks the shit out of this.

Makes a good excuse for new blades though lol

  • angelo is amazing dont hate

  • HAHA, what the fuck is this, it's all wrong!

  • This drill or save selection certainly impresses as poor choice. I agree it totally commits to down low unnecessarily. The only advantage I see to this 'move' down low to the side is on a three on none in close the where low position of the save covers down low on the pass from the centerman to the forward and the body and glove along the ice would prevent a back pass to the centerman...again what idiot would pass back to the center forward ... I would roof it!

  • if the coach cld actually shoot he wld shelf him every time, this drill is shit the keeper is completely helpless against the rebound which in this save position hes goin to get a rebound 9 times out of 10

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • if the guy shooting actually makes a decent shot (not shooting at the middle of the net) he is going to scoer 90% of the time, if the goalie makes the save he is totally out of position and has no stick for the rebound

  • medeveechi your an idiot yea u cover more but it takes a lot longer u retard

  • how in the world does it take longer???? you still push off exactly the same. this drill is stupid it puts you completely out of position to recover for a rebound.

  • Isn't it Hextall hockey school ?\?

  • this is a sad drill......y would u not just butterfly slide back to the post...is this a camp?? whatever it is its pathetic

  • what a pointless drill this coach should be fired for teaching u that. if u just butterfly slide over regularly, u would cover more of the net.

  • this is a pointless drill it is only good if the player that is getting the one timer cant get the shot off the ice...and you can just see that the goalie is out of the play for the rebound

  • if anything bad habit in training, the correct form would be to butterfly slide across and even if it was an emergency situation your more likely to cover down a higer percentage of your angel then doing this dumb "move"

  • all you people say that is a bad school or drill you're retarded the shooter can't go high with his blocker in the way and he doesn't have all day to do a butterfly slide it's simulating a desperet move so it's a good drill you people are just jelous that you didn't think of that drill first

  • the reason y he probably droped the stick was to simmulate if u lost uor stick but i agree u should most likly do a butterfly slide to gett over to the other post

  • its a good drill but getting over to the other side i think should be done differently

  • terrible drill

  • What the fuck is this?!

This is so wrong training for a goalies!

    LOL*

  • hes got the bottom covered but in game sittuation if the player is decent he will probably roof it from where the instrucer is standing then the goalie has no chance... i agree a simple buterfly slide over has much more affect.

  • lmao ive never seen anything like this! throwing yourself on your stomach the throwing your stick...why not just butterfly back to the post instead of throwing yourself like its the end of the world

  • WTF is that. this guy should be fired for even teaching u this drill... ur wasting ur money on this guy dude

  • what is that fucking technical...omg how did you want to goal if you all in desecilibral..that very bizard sucse but that the true :S

  • Stupid dumbasses!!

  • this move looks retarded. helps when desperate tho

  • this is a fuckin desperation movie, y the hell are they teaching this!?

  • I hope he didnt pay to be taught this drill ?

  • well i have seen saves like that before but you shouldn't really practice it..it's more of a desperation save

  • haha yea that will NEVER work in a game, look at all the room up top, and what if the player doesnt shoot? the goalies is screwed, got no stick half the time, and lying flat on the stomach

  • ehhe,, What a useless drill! Use a block instead of that shit!

  • if you want to have good goalie instructional come in quebec , that fuckin shit a the begining is no good the topnet isnt covered and you cant burry your rebounbs

  • just stay back in ur crease more and use a fucking butterfly slide! this drill is stupid

  • u suck hahah who used x ceed pads ...poor

  • yea worst technique ever, a butterfly slide is only slow if you suck at it. And that technique may be fast for a crap goalie and a crap shooter but een if you make the save your down and out on a rebound. What is the player passes it back across?

  • im no pro but that drill seems pointless...if you didnt notice it is possible to butterfly slide across staying tight up and stoping the puck without sacraficing the upper net like the goalie in this video is. Also, if you noticed the shots in this video are going towards the center of the net, that doesnt help the goalie because he will stop those, if the shooter shot more towards the inside corner the drill would work alt better.

  • Thats the fastest way to get across the crease buddies.

Two pad stack requires more time to push, making him too late. You can't butterfly slide over, it even shows him try that going to his left and the instructor skates right by and pushes it in.

If you rush the save you make the shooter rush the shot in empty net situations, giving you a better chance at a save or a bad shot.

  • If you use this save selection on a regular basis, it just means you need to get quicker or read the play better. First of all, you should read that there is a back door threat so you should play a little deeper but still respecting the shooter. Second, most goalies are much faster than the kid in the video so a butterfly slide would be much more appropriate. This goalie coach is a moron.

  • interesting technique, i think it only works when the shooters a foot away and nobodies around the net and the shooters a crappy skater and cant skate around for a better shot... other than that it might not work

  • stupid idiot! Do the butterfly slide and dont give away the top of the net.

  • its an intight shot you idiots, of course you would have more time to butterfly slide if the shot was further out,in this case its not so think before you post stupid comments

  • That's a usless move. Leaves too much room open up high. Why not use a 2 pad stack? Horrible school.

  • your an idiot, the idea of the drill is when the pass comes across the goalie doesnt have all day to butterfly slide over, its too slow, think about, where is a shooter going to shoot topshelf and miss the net? no a good shooter would pick the corner like what the drill simulates, a quick pass across and then the goalie butterfly slides into a desperation pad save

  • ur a piece of shit goalie..wow

  • what a weird technique

  • the goalie could just butterfly slide over, and stay square with the shooter, instead of sacrificing the whole top part of the net, but he does move pretty good side to side

  • wow can't hear shit on this, and how often does the safe work? y they teaching desperation moves?
