I could never put an animal down If I had the option I would open a no kill shelter and offer to take the animals that are at these shelters in until I find them a good home I would get them spayed and nuetered before they went to new home. I would ask that person if you cannot afford to keep your pet bring them back to me and I will find a new home for him.

Are you sure it's not 200 tons every year? With The # that LA PTS yearly (Around 18000 or 19000). 2000x 200=400000 lbs. That is = to 18000 animals that all weigh 22.22222 lbs. So 400000 lbs (or 200 tons) per month can't be correct.

Sitting pretty won't help and voicing out on websites won't help. Act, by being part of animal activist groups or donate to them if you don't have the time. Let's do something please.

I knew if they can't find people to adopt them in 14 days, they will be put down...
When I went to adopt my baby, I was so sad and feeling sick :(

I've ALWAYS adopted cats from shelters and would NEVER buy one from a breeder or pet store....one rescued from a dumpster covered in blood after some bastard cut her little tail off. I just cry when I see things like this. They are such innocent little things and have NO voice. They can't vote, write letters to govt.officials or protest. Hate to say it but soon WE as humans may face the same plight. Please research FEMA camps people!!!!

i think people should stop being so harsh on pet shops and breeders because we still need breeders we do but qualified ones and pet shops most dont get from puppy mills most get from oops or i wanted my child to see birth but really if we dont buy them from there as well then all those puppies will sit in a glass cage or get sent to the shelter anyways

The reason why it's bad to buy from petstores and ANY type of breeders is because they are contributing from the overpopulation problem which in turn euthinizes 4 million dogs and cats a year. So next time you're considering getting a dog or a cat save a life (get one from a pound).
