well, the thing is tht u need 2 put the light source exactly at the point of focus of the lense

thts y u c the dot on target from any point of view, and u also c this dot at "theoritically" infinity distance

the concave lens idea was awesome. my airsoft gun came with a red dot sight, but i got it from walmart so the dot sight is kinda cheap. i was thinking of making a new lens for it and thats a great idea!

This is one of the better demo's I've seen out there on youtube. So many people have got the red dot to reflect, but failed to make the illusion of projecting the dot in space. I'm working on a similar project. To make the red dot perfectly project out in space, you'll need to make the reflector a closely resemble a paraboloid.

Impressive. It looks like you should get into 3D printers to fab your housings to have more durability. I've seen a beta AR magazine made w/a 3D printer, so why not a sight. The air-soft market awaits. Btw, as someone that dabbles in various design mediums, I dont think your sight looks like poo. DIY'n aint EZ!!

I hear the top-dome of a lightbulb makes a good lens as it's concave so can handle vertical displacement.

I have one also :) a red dot sight. And yesterday I made an etch :) look up if you want.

The reticle is oval because the lens needs to be con caved like a sphere. You only have it horizontally bent. Maybe you already said that but anyways nice job :)

That's incredibly impressive. I own a real expensive red dot used by the military, (EOTech) and I am seriously impressed how you have done this. I'm sure it would work to a degree with an Airsoft gun.... I wonder if you could come up with different shapes. You know with the reticule? Perhaps you could make a chevron like in the ACOGS. Or an EOTech reticule. It would look like shit as your sight does look like a piece of shit.... But for making it yourself, that is awesome. Fantastic job.
