  • What tosh!

  • morons...

  • This is theater, in case anyone is wondering. With no dialogue everything must be communicated visually. It's original and engaging and damn well done.

  • 2:29 fuck you why take the mic

  • Amundsen was "dastardly" in the same fashion as Scott was "modest" and "well-prepared"

  • Worst video I've ever seen in my life. I hope you get cancer.

  • Hey that was pretty evocative and a great way to waste time. Where else on this planet would you find that collection of snowfields and black granite grit? Kudos!

  • I am so glad this is up. I found a copy of this at the south pole station a few years ago and have been dying to see it again. It cracks me up every time. Very well done.

  • Just plain creepy

  • I feel bad for Scott. He worked so hard, and he finally made it only to find a Norwegian flag at the pole, and then died tragically on his way back. A horrible way to die for a brave man. At least history will always remember him for his efforts

  • Wierd. Really really wierd. Especially the noises, man. Cree Pee. And the "faces" too. Very strange. Gives me chills and goose bumps knowing this video has been on my monitor...

  • I'm sorry, but I can like this only considering this non-historical; while I don't consider Scott the complete idiot someone thinks he was, I still believe he made some avoidable mistakes which unfortunately caused his team's death. And the only 'dastardly' think about Amundsen is that he won the race and came back home instead of dying heroically.

Other than that, I find this quite interesting, and not bad at all.

  • There is nothing really disrespectful here. Have the people dissing this video flamed Monty Python's "Scott of the Antarctic" with the same zeal?

  • For a more apt tribute to Scott, you could maybe have a look at

kcazyt birdie, the doctor and me

  • I don't know why everyone is disrespecting you for this video that they (and only they) interpret as disrespectful. It is interesting and well done. I notice that in your description you refer to Scott as courageous and do not cite any fault of his. I think you'll find that none of your self righteous critics have actually produced an videos, and most of their favorites are shite.

  • @TrollControlService o.k... well thats just like YOUR opinion man. It was ok but nothing special. They did act it out but yeah nothing amazing.

  • Starkly beautiful and haunting. Very imaginative.

    .

People who judge this video based solely on its treatment of Scott are missing the point. It's not intended as journalism. Rather, it's an artistic treatment of a historical event. Who knows, if Scott is up there watching, he might be intrigued . . .

    .

I think there is a sensitivity to Scott's achievements as well as his failures. Well done. A difficult work done under difficult conditions!

  • @DavidBPreston Well, if it places much of the blame of the deaths of the men on the weather only, while dismissing his rival Amundsen as 'dastardly' and omitting anything about the many arguable decisions Scott made, I'll say that someone might be too much zealous in saying what they think of him.

I maintain my position that, while one of the greatest explorers of his age, Scott was unable to think outside his own set of ideas (ponies and man-hauling) that helped seal their ultimate fates.

  • Infantile.

  • Sir Robert Scott was a pompous fool who led his men to an unnecessary death through sheer incompetance..Read up on your history

  • Author: lets hope the dead dont come back to haunt you disrespectful mutha

  • Your description of the expedition (and the reason for its failure) is completely wrong. This is a waste of the internet.

  • Appalling!

  • Captain Scott has been the victim of a smear campaign. Rolund Huntford’s book has propagated the myth of Scott as a buffoon, when nothing could have been further from the truth. Huntford was in no way qualified to judge any antartic exploration. Only now, people who have actually been to the Sth pole (unlike Huntford), are putting the record straight. Huntford couldn’t even tell the truth about who his own parents were. Scott remains the greatest polar explorer of them all.

  • @DrGomez1 Not much of one, unless you think facts are smears. Taking "The Mad Bomber" Fiennes' line, are you? Doesn't say much for you. You also refer to Fiennes, who has admitted to falsifying parts of his book about his polar expedition to boost sales.

  • @TheMythOfRescue When Disney dammed a local river, while filming, some locals wrote a strong letter complaining about the environmental effects it would have on the fish stocks. Fiennes, just blew it up instead. Good on him!

Fiennes doesn’t make a living out of Scott. This is Huntford’s life work. He is now a discredited debunker. To still cling on to his book as truth, despite a plethora of new material on the subject from a host of more reliable sources other than Fiennes, is erroneous.

  • Most of the Heroic Scott tripe was invented by his widow and interested investors... to help offset expense. It was the end of the romantic explorer age. Scott's own arrogance (like taking an extra person, but not supplies, and taking an inexperienced one at that) was part of the reason they did not make it home. Possibly scurvy, too.

  • "Heroic" Scott trying to conquer the pole by means of horses . . . .

I´m SO sad for the men who died because of this TALENTLESS fool . One gone insane from pain because of the cold left the tent to die outside to end his misery and was never seen again .... When I read about it I almost cried.

May they rest in peace ....

  • Reading about explorers, one confronts various degrees of planning. The British team, Scott et al, made poor assumptions about travel in Antarctica, partly based on the British stiff-upper lip mentality. They struggled but that makes them adventurers, not enviable heroes. Read Roland Huntford's book. Also consider Harbo and Samuelson when one contemplates "heroic" adventures.

This film was made with whimsy but a bunch of clever people with time on their hands, it seems to me.

  • I found this very Inspiring, and truly sad as titled. I know the graphic representation doesn't work for many, but when you read the story you'll see the visual symbology fits well

  • Suppose this is the kinda shit you do when you have no prospects; no life and no girlfriend.

  • Piece of unfunny crap. Scott made mistakes, but he was a brave man. Whoever made this is a creep

  • Disrespectful, end of story.

  • Wonderfully conceived. Sincerely, Salvador Dali

  • It's weird and darkly comical. Reminds me of independent film festivals.

  • This is the most disrespectful video I have ever seen. Scott and his men are heroes. What made you even think about making something like this?

  • @AlvinKarpis007 Must be a horse fan.

  • Comment removed

  • You should be so embarrased. Apart from being the most stupid vid on YouTube, it is just plain disrespectful.

  • Words fail me.

  • its the most disturbing yet interesting video ive seen in a long time

  • i think isolation in" la antartida" finally got to these people....next video might have a guy running around with an axe ...or maybe a girl in bikini???

  • you are horrible

  • its good.

  • me 2

  • A twisted parody - surreal at times. Why not? But I don't think I'm going to finish it - just not into it.
