@fearlessfreakarc no nesesarily, the brits in the desert removed drum mags because they couldnt sneak up on enemy positions with them as the rounds in the drum shifted and made noise, so the 30 round clip was adopted
@dierenfreak10 With the ending in mind, you have to understand that the weapons and uniforms throughout the film exist only in the minds of the characters.
Therefore, any historical accuracy is simply because the characters don't have a historical knowledge of WW2 or firearms. Which is quite acceptable given who they are...

@infantryfilms2nd The Lee Enfield is a British rifle. The Thompson was used by the British in North Africa but more commonly had the drum magazine.
