  • Perfeito !

  • Que sonzeira tinha o Emax. Sonho de consumo na época.

  • Why don't you cover more PSB songs? They have tons of good music. Regards.

  • all day all day :D

  • Can you do "Heart" by Pet Shop Boys ? Or at least figure out what synth they originally used for the lead ?

  • What drum machine were you were using ?

  • It's close enough. Well done. The choir sound's bang on, the horns and and acoustic guitars were live on the recording, but that's pretty close to perfect! Well done!

  • Damn...you're a complete monster.

You really should feel proud of yourself. All the praise you get for this is well deserved.

I'm a musician and I really analyse music when i listen to it. I normally don't enjoy covers, but this is undeniably excellent.

  • You are so talented!!!! Love It!!!! Takes me back!!!

  • Brilliant. Just brilliant.

  • Dude! you brought back so many great!!! memories with my brothers. Things where so much simpler back then, I'm glad I landed here. Keep the jams coming bro!!!.You freakin rock!!!!!!

  • How did you create the Lead Patch on the JX it's almost perfect?

  • your playing slightly to fast apart from that it sounds great but mybe you should of used a sequencer.lol i can talk check my video out. at least you can play a synth

  • i wish i could do that man, amazing

  • Awesome stuff! You did a great cover of a bunch of my favorite 80's tracks.

  • another marvel

  • Felicitaciones :)

  • not, in 1988 they used the Fairlight Chis Lowe spoke about this track

  • I'm feeling like a broken record,you're great! sei un fenomeno,ho la pelle d'oca!

  • Impressionante...

  • Another magical track...

  • Man, you are the most awesome synth player on utube, thx for your 80´s classical synthpop masterpieces versions...!

  • Your a pro.. Great job!!

  • WOOOOOOW !!!

  • AWESOME!

  • lol, at 0:40 I thought you were fed up and were just going to leave the set.. let the synthesizers do there own stuff.. hehehe

  • um abraço do Brasil....

  • Great Good Job Nice Samples !

  • hello from spain:How do you get that drum sound and bass?I am trying to guess it for years..Thanks

  • super :)

  • nice.greet DCRlive

  • The synthesizer is such a magical instrument.

  • Very good

  • Pet Shop kick butt!!!

  • I love those 80s drums and percussions...

  • Sometimes and this one are probably your best that I have heard so far

  • This is an awesome track! I wish I had your synths! I didn't notice any mistakes either. Good job! : )

  • Nice performance! Let me quote you..."I didn't rehearsal more than twice, so there are some mistakes on the lead part (JX-8P)." You know what? I don't care about one wrong note! However, I do care about "musical liveliness". That is, you can make the thing 50% more lively if you don't play the lead part so portato / tenuto! It will get a whole lot more percussive that way if you let the notes "breathe" by leaving some room for 1/16 and 1/8 rests.

  • Great sound! Nice performance too!

  • the mid synth looks ugly, but also good.

  • Awesome 5* You can played Pet Shop Boys song "West End Girls" :)

  • I want you to iknow that this is a beautiful arrangement of the song. It sounds just like it!

Ever since I was 15 (back in 1985) I wanted an EMAX so badly, and was especially moved by songs that had sampled orchestral hits like you do on the EMAX II here. When I tried out the EMAX II in a store, I was really amazed by the "Bass Case" bank on the EMAX II, because it sounded like a powerful house dance lead line. I finally got one in 1993. I used my EMAX II for a lot of freestyle dance tunes.

  • Very talented my friend!

  • I also play the keyboard. I used to have A DX21, Akia VX and Sampler and a Seck Console. Spent ages programming sounds and then found reason on the PC.. I wished for a program like this about 15 years ago!

  • @DX5

I've waited so much time that someone make a Video how he/she plays this song and put it to YouTube. Everyday I 'll give you 5* for this song. I love this song very much. Can you make also a video how you play ,,What Have I Done To Deserve This" on your keyboard ( like this video) ? It is also from PSB.

    Mert :)

  • Whats the synth in the middle pls ??

  • @WILKO50 It's an Emu Systems EMAX II. I own one myself. I got it because it's got stereo sampling, 16-part multi-tymbral MIDI capability, and 3 pairs of independent stereo outputs so you can simultaneously record 3 stereo synth parts in one shot.

  • @jeopardy60611 Thanks, it all sounds great!

  • Very enjoyable.

  • Hi,great Work, you should buy yourself a Yamaha RX5 for the original Drums!!!

  • Bloody great. I'm a huge PSB fan and you hit the nail on the head I tell you! :)

  • Jose, you've got some mad skillz. This may be my favorite of your covers, but I really like so many of them that it's almost unfair to single one out. You show your love for DM and other electronic music in the best possible way. Thanks for sharing with the world! Cheers!

  • Awesome job as always. You've inspired me to listen to some PSB, but sadly I cannot play to save my life!

  • @depravedone Well learn to play then my friend, anyone can do lots of things if they are willing to work at them

  • @depravedone With hard work and the will to you can learn how to play..it requests practice so you can develop the skills. The main is that you like what you do..and the hard work will be even more rewarding.

As to listen to PSB, go ahead my friend..if you haven't listened yet you will discover how amazing artists they are.

  • Nice arrangement. Instruments used are quite close to the original. Great job!

I am unable to reproduce the echo on the drums at the moment as my organ is quite old. I need to save up to get the Yamaha ELS-01C as that model can produce that kind of echo..

  • Beautiful orchestral hit!

  • WOW AMAZING I ENJOY THE PANIO.

  • Fantastic! You really know your stuff! Thanks for posting here. ~Peace

  • Woah. Sounds like the real thing. Must have took you ages to get everything accurate. Do you have any Erasure Covers by any chance? Love to hear them.

  • i used a Roland A-50 and a Fairlight to play this song old and good synths

  • Simply Amazing! Chris Lowe the 2nd!!!

  • Love this version!

Are the drums programmed through the synth or just a normal drum machine?

  • Great Work!!!

  • The hit sound is off the 'Orchestrahitz' floppy for Emax- I know because I have it, no doubt it would have been on the EII as well. I am buying an EII this weekend.

  • One of the best of your covers. Outstanding!

  • Great! I like this theme. This instrumental composition is much closely to original!

  • so did pet shop boys use these exact same synths to create their track?

or where did yo get these samples from?

it sounds awesome. i would apprec. the music today if they would use these phatt synths with the lofi sounds thru the analog ssm filters. those were the days only now i start to appreciate :)

  • @LemonAndYoghurt Samples are coming from my libraries (it means I didn't sample the original recording for getting those sounds). The "hit" sample was one of the Emu most recogniceable sounds, together with those choirs before the spanish guitar. They used extensively an Emu Emulator II afaik.

The JX8P has 2 DCOs which sound close to Jupiters VCO (not the same, but fat too). Not sure if they used roland oscillators for that track.

    Thanks.

  • god i love those Emu keyboards, the Emax and the Emulators. pet shop boys records are dripping with the built in sounds from the Emu's so they must be good lol. great video!

  • Great !!!!

  • ¿La puede perdonar?

  • That was just great!

  • Well done mate, what drum machine are you using?

  • Amazing. The closeness of this one to the original is a great accomplishment.

  • Very very nice. I saw the Pet Shop Boys in concert at teh Bronco Bowl in Dallas Tx 1999 and they were great. They are one of my favorite groups! Truly a real pair of musicians.

    Great job on the preformance.

    Cheers,

    Matt

  • Has convertido mi sueño en realidad.

  • a fresh take on a great song, thank you.

  • real pro!

  • Yes i agree that your cover sounds quite close to the original version! good!

  • Respect! So good as the Original !!!!

  • Nice work. I enjoy all of your creative works. Thanks a million for sharing with us. Since I have been watching your clips over the past year, my playing has improved 100%. Again, thanks DX5.

  • Sounds just like the original, you nailed it mate!!!!

  • nice play

  • very good

  • WoW!! amazing dude!!!

  • Can you do Suburbia?

I have an EMAX II that I bought new in 1993, and I have used it mostly for freestyle dance tracks, rock ballads, and a rap background. However, I had no idea until recently that Depeche Mode was noted for using the EMAX and that it works well for New Wave.

  • Nice to hear someone on here who knows what he is doing.

  • Cool version ! But i think there is too much reverb on the Snare. Try to sample the Snare form an Yamaha RX Machine (The original). Highly compressed and not so much reverb.

  • This is EFFING EFFING GENIUS. I hate you for being so good as something I wish I could do.

  • Fantastic, Magnificant, I love itttttttttttt

  • Is that 2nd synth and Emulator II?

  • No, It is an Emu Emax.

  • Holy Chris Lowe, Batman! If I could applaud through the internet, I would :)

  • astonishing........you really need to get a version of Always On My Mind on here as soon as you can.....

    Awesome version

  • me gusta <3

  • please do more PSB, thanks!

  • Brilliant!

  • Damn! YOU ARE AWESOME! You couldn't have picked a better song!

  • Outstanding! Simply outstanding!

  • wowwowowowowo great ,

  • YEAH...this is what I was looking for.....more PSB

  • awesome 5*

  • Huge!!! Very good! Lots of memories ...

  • perfect

  • i love this track wow i got it on vinyl too pet shop big influence on me

  • Hi, what sample/preset/patch you used on the right hand pad at 2:25?

  • Awesome.

  • Sounds nice but the Snare has too much reverb and the decay and release of the synth-lead ist to much. Try to replace the drumsounds with one of the Yamaha RX-5. That was the original Drummachine of that Song ;)

    greetings

    Ferance Productions,

    Germany

  • Wonderful!just like the original!Well done!

  • spot on . nice one ,cheers for posting this on you tube.

  • Sounds great,very good job!I love it!

  • Now that's fantastic man! How about covering West End Girls?

  • I have it on mind. I have the same strings sound for the track.

Hope to manage some time for recording :)

  • Man, you are really good.

  • hey there you inspired me to want to learn how to play synth.

was thinking og getting the yamaha MM6 is it any good and will they have sounds like this? *i apologise if its a retarded question*

  • Nice to read.

Sadly, I didn't check the MM6, so I can't asure you it sounds the same. Think most of the sounds I play are 80's, retro sounds. There are lot of machines (and samples on the net) for getting them, but nothing like original gear (More expensive and spacious option).

    DX5

  • Ahh any idea how much does it cost? Very keen to learn 80's and retro sounds.

  • @DX5 what web sites do you get the sounds/samples from?

  • Excelente cover.

  • great job,how about covering its a sin.

  • Congratulations on creating sounds almost identical to the original. Good job 5 *

  • excellent cover!!! what sound module do you use for the drums and bassline and what sequencer are you using if you don't mind me asking?

  • This is a fantastic cover! It sounds just as good as the original. :D

  • Waiting for it long time ago.And now here it is.Amazing as always.

  • Excellent!!Ahhh..the great PSB!!!!

  • 5/5 thank you and good JOB!!!

  • nice, so PSB, DM, NO, & AV... cool.

  • Man, that is awesome. Sound s great. Greaet job.

  • nice one

  • Fanbloodytastic!! I'm so jealous! I wish I could play PSB songs :-(

  • Please do more Pet Shop Boys! This is great stuff.

  • FAO: octo20

    Agreed!! :-)

  • WOW! WOW! WOW! Amazing job!

You are absolutely free to cover any PSB songs you like! (Especially anything else from Discography!)

This is beautiful indeed, great job!

  • Another amazing vieo! Thx a lot

    greetings from Argentina

  • nice job!you use for the record reason?

  • I used reason for some modules in Rewire mode. My main sequencer/recorder is Pro Tools.

  • Fantastic cover once again...

DX5, you are as good as Chris Lowe...

    Greetings from Slovenia!

  • A pity those mistakes, but it was late at night, and I wanted to record it before going to sleep :)

  • Great job! keep rockin'!!!

  • From where the slappy bass sound come from? It's a sample or a DX7 or what?

  • I got it from a softsynth, but It is a recreation of an FM bass ( I didn't hooked up my DX7 just for a question of time ).

  • Could you tell me what softsynth is it? Thanks.

  • Of course. I used Reason's Subtractor for this concrete track. But any other soft synth should be able to emulate FM bass.

  • Thanks. I often use the FM7 for it. Extraordinary job again.

  • Wow, i love PSB! Perfect cover, spectacular sounds!

  • Great !

  • Fantastic ! 5*

  • oh my god... amazing......

  • Impresionante, me encanta, magnifica canción.

  • great cover... well done once again.
