  • Bob on this

  • i dont think they are too bothered about not takin on noel,,,i mean they wouldnt have written the songs they did ,and they wrote some belters .

noel is awesome at writing his syle songs but i dont wanna hear noel songs ,up the carpets

  • COOL AS FUCK THEN,COOL AS FUCK NOW.......MOO

  • cool as fuck!

  • 'Zeke 64 ' is a Japanese WWii experimental rocket Zero plane,,that never made it into combat..''Jerry wants to be a rockette'' a reference to Wernher von Braun and Arthur Rudolph who developed the v2 rockets for Nazi germany...Who ''you haven't seen anthing yet' ...'went on to develop the ' Saturn V ' moon rockets for the American government.

The song is pop, the lyrics aren't , a great balance...wonderful.

  • I just love this, one of the catchiest songs ever made.

  • A great band who deserved more credit they still sound fresh today unlike all those Stone roses wannaby bands shame they split up after this i think that wave of britpop 95-98 would have welcomed them with open arms.

  • I went to see these before the "madchester " thing and was into the baggy T shirt bollox before it got cool and really struggled to pull sober chicks. Some things never change!

  • @jamiegwain

stone roses & the carpets started the same.

  • think noel gallagher was a roadie for them

  • @joelataxi Noel was the roadie yes, when the original lead singer left he also auditioned to be lead singer and they knocked him back!! Bet they are sick now!! Lol

  • best Inspiral Carpets song!!!

  • i allways thought a c64 was an old american plane out of the fifties although i could be wrong.

  • How the hell can ten dumb ass dip shits give this fukin amazing track the thumbs down. One of their finest tunes and there's plenty more to choose from.

  • boooooooon army!!!!!!

  • All the song lyrics websites say "Zeke 64". As GuestOfGregoryHouse mentioned, there was a Model 64 of the WWII Japanese fighter plane "Zero" which was also known as a Zeke, hence Zeke 64.

    Pure conjecture, though.

  • Groovy

  • Warning, question from clueless American.

From the lyrics, just what is a Zeke 64?

  • @witoman

Nobody knows... It will forever be an unsolved riddle in your feeble mind... mwahahaha.

  • @witoman i always thought he said c64

  • @witoman i always thought he said c64, i guess that doesn't make much sense though...

  • @witoman c64 might refer to the shit microcomputers that were around when i and the writer of this tune were both kids

  • @witoman a plane maybe? I know a zeke is an old japanese world war 2 plane

  • i like it !!

  • Excelente!!

  • The drummer craig does Smiths/Joy Division & Oasis guided tours in Manchester and is a decent egg all round

  • Cool as fuck!

  • The quintessential mad-chester indie band; underrated is an understatement; blistering band.

  • Last week, I walked into an obscure record shop in Bowness, had this song playing on the iPod as I walked in. Then what did I see almost immediately? A fucking Inspiral Carpets Greatest Hits signed... "Stay cool forever! C Boon" complete with a drawing of a cow smoking a joint. One of life's most freakish, and awesome coincidences! Needless to say I bought the fucker.

  • @tcvicesquad NICE FIND AND COOL STORY MATE, GOTTA LOVE THEM SYNCHRO'S

  • clint boon is a gent, inspirals must tour soon,

    please lads.

  • Clint Boon = LEGEND

  • Their singer Tom Hingley still tours, he's playing in Camden, London on Dec 8th. Plays quite a lot of Inspirals stuff... Give him a search for more details.

  • Comment removed

  • sad to think that clint boon is now a radio dj and the others have seemed to fall compleatley off the radar

  • Love them! :D

  • MOO...

  • LOVE. THIS. SONG.

  • LOVE EM !!!!!!!!!!! carl in scarborough

  • Inspirational event.

    Inspirational song.

Has there ever been anything more inspirational than a man on the moon?

  • @joseshivers two men?

  • they must really regret not letting noel gallagher into their band

  • saw them live in Prague, it was awesome!

  • If I could create a super group this guy would be singing lead.

  • bang on

  • well ahead of the roses, inspirals are madchesters

    finest. moo!

  • @bohsblur get fucked

  • before the stone roses i beg to differ about 4 years later

  • Great tune, great band, fuck EMI!

  • clint boon learnt everything he knows about music from big shuggy fae Paisley and that is a fact, ask the man, he will tell yi. lol

  • Wait... that IS Houston, TX.... ? I live there now!

  • Noel Gallagher wrote all the songs for Definitely Maybe while he was roadying for these guys. They are a top band and Clint Boon is a total legend!!!

  • I gotta say what the f do you Manchester people eat that you can produce so many f-ing great bands??? These guys (I discovered after the fact; I'm in America, sorry :/ )... Joy Division/New Order, Smiths, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays... holy sh$#! Manchester, you rock!

  • @GVike The Chameleons in there? Surely they deserve a mention.

  • @GVike Ha I'm a Manc and Proud <3

  • @GVike and Oasis ^_^

  • fuckin love this track

  • An eagle lands, and a planet full of people raises it hands..........

    Tune and a half!

  • unreal wot a tune

  • How the fuck can this have SO few views? This is CLASS man! If you're not moving some part of yourself to this, panic. You're dead...

  • tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune

  • these lads were dead proud of being from OLDHAM apparently - well thats what some oldham fans told me in magaluf a few years ago

  • inspirals were the finest of madchester..

  • As a hardcore prog rock fan, with a bit of metal/hard rock thrown in, I never rated the Stone Roses, Oasis, La's or anything like that (not that I disliked them, they were all just 'okay' in my opinion). Despite all this I have to go on record here and now to say that this is one of the greatest songs of any genre or generation, and that Tom Hingley has a fucking superb voice. Great lyrics, too. One of the first songs I REALLY got into as a young teenager, and it still gives me goosebumps.

  • @gestapojohnson indeed! I myself am mostly a metal/deathcore kinda person but i came across their album in a charity shop and thought it had a quirky name and got curious. so glad I did! makes a change from the whole 10 minute Opeth song or something (:

  • @LegendaryRoryG I can dig Opeth, but I prefer a 19 minute Mars Volta song myself. I intend to have Tetragrammaton played at my funeral. It'll be a real treat for any non proggers in attendance :-) Prog is the best thing on the planet - the plebs will realise this in time!

  • Fucking tuuuuune

  • The Stone Roses under the name The Patrol and The waterfront were formed in 1980 so you'll find they predate the Inspirals by three years so the guy claiming they were there before is wrong. Inspirals were a top band and a great bunch of lads, none of the Manchester bands wrote anything that ever came close to The Roses debut album nor ever will Fact! Scousers The La's debut album is also in the same league as The Roses, timeless.

  • the inspirals were the best even by the impossibly high standads of all the other MCR bands

i was weaned on them by my older sister when i was little - brilliant brilliant band

  • Moo

  • this is top class

  • guitar... guitar !

  • prity shit

  • Quality.

  • Tops : )

  • Massively Underrated Band.

    Cracking Tune.

  • top group seen them 89 at mondays gig sound bunch of lads

  • cool as fuck !

  • My brother is mates with Clint and Tom did a gig at Mossley Football Club last year.

  • indie fans have so much to thank these lads for..legend

  • Boss track.

  • noel gallagher used to be a roady with inspiral carpets

  • everyone knows this, yet people keep posting it on Carpets vids as if its something new! LOL

  • Yeah, but did you know Lemmy, from Motorhead was a roadie for Jimi Hendrix??? :)

  • mooooooooooooo

  • oh i were and when???

  • Comment removed

  • i bucked yer ma

  • one of the best live bands i saw.............james were fuckin awesome though.......quality light show

  • They wee there before the stone roses and Oasis, laying the ground work, the first of their generation... Great fucking band

  • @jamiegwain yeah man,..clint was the man in the middle, gettin mani in the roses, showin noel the way.and his fkn top band

  • @jamiegwain Nahhh man the roses, inspiral carpets and the charlatans were all out at the same so to be fair they were all laying down the ground work for oasis and blur and all the brit pop bands

  • @jamiegwain Inspiral Carpets were the same time as The Stone Roses

  • @jamiegwain roses predated these ,but they still are top

  • @jamiegwain stone roses and inspiral carpets both formed in the same year

  • one of the greatest bands of all time in my opinion, maybe joint-first ; so distinctive a sound...and that was the thing about 'Madchester' --so many unique talents like The Smiths, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets --all had their own sound which was often imitated never bettered nor even matched -- the Indie scene was the best in the history of music as far as my tastes go and the Inspirals at the top of the pile

  • dont be foretting joy division, i know ian curtis is from macclesfield, so it doesnt count as manchester, but they have to be up there as on of the greatest bands!

  • totally agree! - i shudda mentioned Joy Division...if you check my favourites you'll see i've got Transmission, She's Lost Control, Atmosphere and Dead Souls in there. Seminal band.

  • That's right Neil Gallagher and Liom. Morrissey/Marr; Ian Curtis; John Squire and Ian Brown; Bez and Sean Ryder and Anthony wilson, all roadies for Oasis. Yep, that's right!

  • oasis are pish. oops sorry oasis were pish! thamk fuck they're gone

  • please tell me how ian curtis could have been a roadie for oasis? he died in 1980

  • Did he really? Maybe I was getting mixed up with Sid Viscious!

  • You sure you got the right Gallagher? Inspirals were way better at any rate...

  • Yeah that's right Noel used to their roadie, sometimes he used to bring Liam with him.

  • do you lot know that there rodie used to be neil gallager

  • tit

  • The Beast Inside..

  • One of their albums was motivated by a prison riot @ Strangeways. Name please?

  • God rest the great Gus Dudgeon, tragic passing, seriously,he is missed.

  • Gay? What the hell does that mean, don t you lynch people for that in Texas!

  • Gay as in happy? Why are so may Americans obsessed with homosexuality, but then again most Texan males do look like they're auditioning for a part in Brokeback Mountain.

  • LMFAO

  • cool as fuck

  • wooohoooo.......

  • meant to say the stone roses for some reason just came out as the stones but hey that works too because the rolling stones were amazing as well ^-^

  • shut up you cunt all the best bands are from the UK whether you like it or not you fucking yank prick!

  • U right man, twas only meant to be a joke, I love this band and u are completely right, UK over yanks in music, not a cunt, however, we reserve that term 4 our wives, keep rockin, UK!

  • rofl yeah and modesty and humility are just as easily found the UK :P... i'm from the US with hispanic backgrounds and i LOVE UK bands but more generally anything from europe, american music usually isn't that great or turns sour too fast. Kasabian, Oasis, Smiths, Blur (or should i just say Damon Albarn :P) Stones, H-Mondays fuck man ... i wish i lived in the UK just to see all those soon to be amazing bands rising. lucky you.
