@suneb0 You might not have implemented the new patch. As of patch 1.0.2 as stated by the developer known as Blue, the sand duplication glitch is removed.
You can get even more if you put a platform at the top and drop the sand from there. If you place one and it immediately falls, you get a block back and the one you placed still falls to the bottom. Then mine them from the bottom to get double the blocks, plus whatever you'd gain from this method. Much faster if you need more than around 50 blocks, and you can do it even if you only have 1 block at first.

make a sand tower and put dirt at the bottom use a dirt rod and place the sand+ dirt into wall it works in 1.0.3 and it duplicates the sand lul

I remember this sand glitch were if you dropped it in water it would give you the sand block back as it dropped. So that was unlimited sand. XD
