It could not have evolved behind the head looping around without making the bid unable to eat. The woodpecker COULD be explained through evolution. For example, the wood pecker could have evolved on much smaller and less tough trees. However, there are other examples like electric eels, exploding cucumbers, venomous snakes, etc. I still believe evolution explains the vast majority of biological divirsity on earth, but this does open my mind.

I would also like to point out to anyone who cares to listen, that trying to say that scientists hide the stuff they don't understand is completely ignorant. In fact, science works the other way around, where scientists ONLY publish what they DO understand. ok, I've actually been studying woodpeckers for a project at university and I did not come across this kind of anatomy, but the tongue of most woodpeckers is stored curled around the skull. It doubles back on itself and exit's via the beak, allowing it to be extended far out when required. In some cases the tongue goes right between up to the front between the bird's eyes before it loops back. Is it really such a mutation that the tongue just goes straight into the beak without looping?

Instead of asking why this woodpecker has a funky nose, or how it got here, or what it evolved from, we should be asking how anything got here. Why is there a universe? Why is there matter? The most abortions BY FAR are done in the US. In BY FAR most cases the reason is carelessness/irresponsability. There are alternatives to abortion. If we would consider it murder, wich it is, people would become more responsable in their behaviour, imo.

I believe that the world was much different before the great flood recorded in the book of Genesis (thier is alot of evidence of a flood all over the world as well, plus almost every culture in the world has a legend of a flood). The enviorment would have been much more lush and healthy. Check into giant fossilized insects - very interesting rabbit hole.
