@inkey2 It's Illinois -- and quite frankly, I have a hard time with people who cannot mind their own business. I don't mind my neighbors business--and I don't want them minding mine either. If someone has a problem with something I'm doing, they need to tell me about it in person.
@uxwbill I am originally from indiana but have lived in the boston area for many years. In the boston suburbs they would find a way to write you a fist full of tickets and bring you up on a dozen ordinces for that many cars....then again in massachusetts you can't have a bb gun, a sling shot, a blow gun, a cross bow.......or anything else that might protect you
@inkey2 Sounds like NO fun at all! I'm not hugely into those things, but they do have their uses. I had to get rid of some cars anyway, due to a kerfuffle that I made a video about.
If someone comes along who wants to mind my business for me, I'm going to be a very vocal opponent of it.
@uxwbill my late father bought a brand new Plymouth K car in about 1989, 4 door fully equipted (for a K car). He paid about 10 grand for it. Right after he bought it he suffered a major heart attack and for his remaining 10 years alive he rarely drove it....just to pick up his meds and go to church. We held on to the car many years after he died..up till last week when we finally sold it. It had 24,000 ORIGINAL MILES on it ...but the massachusetts snow & salt had done a job on the body, too bad
@ahodina9811 Even in its degraded state, it's faster than the 4.3L V6 in the brown truck also seen in this video. So it'll do. Tests against a 3800 haven't been done. Yet.
I got 86 aries K wagon. Doesn't look the best, but runs great. Someone had painted it black unprofessionally and you can tell by the chipping and peeling. I love the car, next on my list is a professional paint job, hopefully my grandpop could help = )
Still an example of American cheapness and unwillingness to invest in the product. Even base-model Civics of that era had tachs. Don't get me wrong, the K-car was a solid platform, but so many elements about it were cheap, especially the interior and the paint.
@uxwbill you would not need a tach because back in those days people actually knew how to listen and feel with their hands and feet, nowdays everyone looks at the tach just like their "video" games and thats what the media has reduced our country to. BTW i really like this car and i want it!
I had the Dodge Aries, but it wasn't a wagon...and it was from Illinois. Same year, same color, same engine. It was a rust bucket. The floors were gone and the fuel pump seized, so I replaced that myself. It was very easy to do.
The State of Texas wouldn't allow me to import it from Tennessee, so I had to sell it for scrap. The car ran very good and it didn't have any leaks or other problems. It certainly was a mistake to bring it to Texas.
where did u get the voltage meter for the cig lighter i want to install something in my car that requires atleast 13v to run and id like something like that to test the voltage
@Matthew55904 Wal-Mart. Keep in mind that a car battery at full charge only provides 12.6 volts and will offer less as the battery drains. If your device is really that tight on its voltage requirement (most devices are OK within 1-3 volts of their rating, especially on the low side), powering it from your car may be a bad idea.
@uxwbill it is a autotherm Windshield washer fluid heater hooks into the wasing hases and is power by the battery for safter and battery rundown pprotection it will only run at 13v plus i say ur station wagon the meter said 13v
I have an 84 Dodge aries that I bought from an 85 year old man for $120. Sience I had it, people always comment on it like "I drove one in hight school", or " I havent seen one in years. Its just a forgotten popular car of the 80's.
@GayUOPXBoy10 WTF makes you think I like the plastic shit out now? I hate reliants. Why do you think none are around? Becuase they suck. I still see Fords, GM's, Hondas, Toyotas and a few VW's from the same time. I love most vintage cars. A crappy Reliant is not "classic."
Be careful. :-) In some ways, a Reliant could be considered a "classic" or landmark automobile. They are widely attributed to have been the salvation of Chrysler Corporation in the early 80s and look how many vehicles--including the wildly successful minivans--were built from variations on that same platform...
Besides, I like 'em. They're cheap, reliable and--dare I say it--even *fun* to work on.
He got it from his mother's 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager SE to replace the god-awful third-party radio that was in this car when he got it.
That's one of the beauties of Chrysler - for all these years they have never changed the way their radios install in the dashboards, so you can take a newer Chrysler-made radio and stick it in an older Chrysler-made car.
I had a combination tape deck and CD player that worked perfectly. And of course, I sold it as I had no need for it at that time. Wiring is the same as the tape decks.
I've learned long ago to never throw anything that would be valuable if I had all the pieces to go with it, because I will get all of the remaining pieces the moment I've discarded what I have. I didn't know that applied to selling things I didn't need!
Oh well, maybe I'll find a good deal on one somewhere. CD player = nice
i made a few new vids . a intro vid and a another walk around to shw off the wax job i atempted to do lol hope u can check em out. she may not run..yet but she still looks nice, if only i could get rid of the vynal top lol
Do you still have the Reliant Wagon?

I changed the fuel pump of my 86 Aries in 2004. The original lasted 18 years.

No tach, lol.......classic 80's Americana

@anditslikethat Oh well...you don't really need one with an automatic transmission anyway...
I doubt the rare stick shift models had a tach either, but you wouldn't absolutely need one there...

yes the 84 Reliant with the terrible 2.6
kcarman88 2 years ago
You could try to patch that line with a little bit of JB Weld!
mgospeed31 2 years ago
It's pretty bad. Maybe if I mixed up a whole tub of JB weld and just dunked it in there?
I think I'll replace the line, it's cheap enough and the run is pretty short.
uxwbill 2 years ago
LOL I wonder how much a whole tub would cost. I just use the JB weld putty. It's pretty easy to work with. Don't you just love rust though?
mgospeed31 2 years ago
Oh yes, rust is just *great*. (rolls eyes)
JB Weld is pretty good stuff.

Too bad the minivan didn't have a CD player, that would be cool having a Chrysler CD player in a 80s K car.

The CD player units may install differently, i'm not sure. I know the radio/tape deck units are universal.
