Yea! PLZ try this with the theme from UFO! I loved your credit titles, especially with the fade-in in front of the SNOBBY Beta-5(no wonder it's got a 'tude!). As I'm sure many ST fans have done, I've named my black cat 'Isis'. If you think Seven's cat talks too much, My cat won't shut up! But I love her! If I had another cat, I'd call it Miss Lincoln.
I saw an awesome sci fi movie the other day...It 's called Avatar! A wake- up call for all Sci if directors .If you saw it in 3D on the big screen, you know what I mean.
@tonkehar I saw an awesome sci fi movie the other day..It's called Inception! A wake-up call for new sci fi directors. A movie that made you think...Wow!
You could have also thrown in a clip or two of Lansing from "The 4D Man" walking through a wall, implying he's got even more cool toys that Kirk and Spock didn't see!
Loved it!!Loved it!!often wished a series of Lansing had been made and what it would have been like.Only Lansing could hold a cat wearing a fancy collar and still look macho
Ex-cellent. ;) Well done proposed opening ... with Lansing, and Ms Garr (and Ms Vetri making the occasional, spicy appearance), this could've survived a season or two. I suspect the concept was just to predictable -- every week, Gary 7 prvents some disaster or something. A good story editor (like Bryan Fuller or Michael Piller) would've pulled it out with interesting denouements wherein you wouldn't know what the end result of Gary's actions were ... until he did them. Would've been fun!
Excellent opening---the network might have gone for this had you been at the wheel. Another interesting idea, slightly explored with Roddenberry's other unsold pilot the Questor Tapes aka Data 1973. This series, set in contemporary times, would have been more topical but I think the networks balked because they didn't see future in sf programs as Star Trek, at the end of its second season, was hanging by a thread.
Hollywood coud have made this rather than the new Star Trek but Hollywood wanted to make money rather than a good movie. The new Star trek was not like show but a movie with explosions and a bad plot,, , Star Trek the movie was not Star Trek the show. Watch an old Star Trek show .. you will enjoy it more!
Exactly how would Paramount have been able to make a movie version of 'Assignment: Earth' when barely anybody but Trekfans know what the concept is or who the characters are? Just so that you can feel good?
@Velocity9s: BLOODY WELL RIGHT, they shouldn't; this is a business that they operate, NOT a charity. When you're a big shot in the entertainment biz (and I shudder to think what concepts you'd come up with), THEN you can make all of the shows you want (of course, knowing you and the other fanatics on this board, they'd all lose money.) The Star Trek movie succeeded at getting people to come and see it, thus keeping the franchise alive-I think that qualifies more than making a movie of this.
You have a real talent! You seem to have a tool, most of us be envious of! Bravo and keep up the great work! Ever consider doing the theme to Star Trek instead with the words read by Jeffrey Hunter? That could be a task in itself, but a worthwhile one to say the least. And to hear him utter them might send shivers down my spine! Anyone else in agreement for this person's next fix?I am raising my hand for a 1st this motion?!Anyone 2nd it?
Thanks! I doubt I could do a Jeff Hunter narrated Trek opening, unless I cobbled together a bit from the dialog of The Cage. But he didn't exactly have the stirring speeches Bill Shatner had. :-)
A theme without the narration, though, would be possible. I might just tackle that one.
The only thing that would have sold the series was the pilot, 'Assignment: Earth', and it didn't sell. The theme song would have only mattered if the show was in production.
Thanks. Shoot, yeah, for a dude banging this out with Nero in his den, I'm pretty happy with it. As for the music, it's typical 70's TV adventure stuff. It was a good fit for what I had in mind. It fulfills my hobbyist needs. :-)
Really good editing job. Audio is better on this one. I like that theme. Your images and editing fit it well. Well done. Who wrote that theme by the way? Sounds like a lot of things I grew up watching.
Thank you! I get a kick out of putting these things together. Joe Harnell composed the theme. He also did music for The Incredible Hulk, the first V mini-series, Cliffhangers and so on.
Oh, lordy, how I would have loved to bone Terri Garr.... :-p

Damn. I would have watched that. :) Well done. The theme music was from one season of The Bionic Woman, wasn't it?

The theme is a ripoff of The Bionic Woman season-3 opening

@shutdafup Not a ripoff, an unused version from an album.

Too bad. It really had potential.

Very nice job. It looks like it could've been on the NBC Sunday Night Mystery Movie rotation.

Very true! You lived thru those old days of the 70's too, huh?
NBC had some great shows:
McMillan And Wife, Hec Ramsey, McCloud, Amy Prentiss, ect. ALL were great reminders of a day that I loved and sorely miss to this day.
Also, Robert Lansing's performance in the sci-fi classic "The 4D Man" was great too.

Three things:
1. Gary Seven had a device that was perhaps the inspiration for Doctor Who's sonic screwdriver.
2. Teri Garr was a fox back in those days. Unfortunately, she now suffers from MS I believe.
3. The cat's "meows" were provided by Barbara Babcock, an actress who was on the show twice.

I wish networks would still make entertaining opening credits (and TV shows to go with them), but it's all sacrificed for more commercial time...
Thanks for the compliment and I'm thrilled you enjoyed this. :-)
