  • Thanks for the tabs.

    Great play!

  • lazy guy he only wears a bathrobe. but he fucking rocks

  • Only sounds the song, I can't hear what has you playing

  • omfg this is just awesome

  • Hey Nolly, was that Mish'as Blackmachine?

I believe if it is, that he sold it to Michael right?

    Great guitar and great cover.

  • are you endorsed by vik guitars?

  • @gianniswildchild Yes he is.

  • Verily Sir, thou art a badass.

  • Cool guitar! nice riffin

  • Very envious of you connection with the great Campbell, sir.:) I so want to own ALL the Blackmachines.

  • NICE

  • VH4 ftw...

  • Hes wearing a robe cause he just fucked that guitar.

  • @IGNsucks That's the greatest piece of comment I've ever seen in my life

  • @IGNsucks HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA thank you I needed that

  • If it wasn't for this video I would of found out about your band

  • that lowest string is like a fucking baby's arm! that is metal as fuck! \m/

  • Great Band¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Blotted Science¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • flared frets?

  • BATHROBE METAL

  • I want that guitar.

  • is that a robe?

  • what kind of pickups?

  • Did your friend like, tell you to shower before playing this guitar.

  • The very sight of that guitar is discouraging to all six string players trying to learn this song. It's like trying to read a poem written in a language with characters and sounds that don't even exist within your own! Sounds good though. <3 Jarz

  • @BlikeNave Indeed, it's played on a 7 strings, which most guitar players don't have.

  • are you jamming a blackmachine whilst in a robe?

  • I wish I had money:(

  • dude nice fucking robe lol this is awesome

  • hey nice work man, and in your dressing gown too!

  • Very nice.

  • what is good about fanned frets? :s

  • @psychopathtoine It's the same reasoning behind why basses are so much longer than guitars, and grand pianos have longer bass strings.

When you begin adding more strings to the guitar, it would benefit significantly from a longer length on the bass side. It improves tone and also string tension (strings are tight without having to use such heavy gauges, which has a negative impact on tone).

  • @psychopathtoine in case you didnt know, straight frets actually prevent the guitar from obtaining a truly perfect tuning, tone and sustain, correctly fanned frets allow the guitar to obtain a perfect tuning stability, give a much better tone and develop a remarkable amount of sustain

  • ronnie would be proud ;)

  • Its handmade guitar od Parker?

  • @brabus266 blackmachine

  • This song looks really fun to play. Wish I had an 8 string, heh.

  • how thick is that??

  • @MetalliDeth1223 That's what she said.

  • Get dressed

  • Get dessed

  • That was the dogs nuts. Awesome stuff.

  • How much for a guitar like that?

  • @theflavasava2

You could drop 4 grand on one pretty easy.

  • Dressing gown metal! :D (Y)

  • incredible playing!!! I love this album so much!!! plus, you're guitar is freaking amazing!

  • how much this guitar will cost me? i would like to buy one!

  • 6 people disliked...It's interesting,what do they like then?))

  • @JHKHSVJSSRV it's most likely 6 closed-minded guitarists that can't handle anything more than 6 strings, and thusly hate extended range guitars. They're everywhere.

  • @DarkDoorFilms I agree)But I also could afford only a 6-string(((

  • Ibanez makes a 7 string for $499, Schecter makes an eight for $599. Agile guitars also has very affordable (and pretty damn good quality) 7's and 8's, check out RondoMusic (doht) com.

    edited to fix website.

  • @DarkDoorFilms but I want that particular BM F8))It's the godess))

  • @JHKHSVJSSRV Dude, I have such bad news for you then. You can't even order blackmachine guitars anymore. It says on Doug's website that he's doing a limited run of exotic wood instruments and they'll 'likely by the last guitars the [he] builds himself by hand'. I don't know if this means he's closing or expanding into a full-production brand (which would be awesome). The message on his website is rather cryptic, but it seems as if he's cancelled the orders on his waiting list.

  • @DarkDoorFilms God kill Doug)))

  • This is the kind of shit that inspires people to pick up a guitar and become better players!

  • nice man :) do narcolepsy :) go on. do it!

    love you

    kisses ;)

  • this guitar is amazing, so is the song.

  • Nolly, that guitar is so fucking sleek and sexy. I'm sure there are lots of people on SSO waiting for you to sell it... but if you ever decide to offload it, it's okay if you message me first.

  • VERY good job, man! Fat guitar sound!

  • That's the most brutal thing ever to come from a man wearing a dressing gown

  • I LOVE the tone of that monster. good stuff, man.

  • my dream guitar....

  • This is what you get when basses and guitars have sex.

  • what a sweet looking 8 string ,you have the rig of my dream man, wish you good luck with red seas fire

  • You sir are a master of the guitar, and I applaud your excellent performance. By the way, how on earth did you remember this?

  • huge sound!! what amplifier did you use?

  • god damn that is a nice guitar, and nice playing mate

  • complete insanity.

  • niiiiice. :)

  • badass playing on badass guitar!

  • OH MY GOD BLACKMACHINE

  • Very good cover

  • this is played on a 7 string though

  • are you liek wearing a bathrobe? i usually play pantsless but thats taking it into a new dimention.

    well gd cover as well

  • That guitar is insane. I don't play this stuff personally, but that is really cool

  • nice vid man! amazing guitar!!!

i play a 7 string and the extra low string is now a part of the guitar for me, everything makes a hole lot more sense, theres more symmetry and logic to the guitar now (my point of view) though i dont think i'll ever get to an 8.. all you 6 stringers out there try it!

    very nice \m/

  • which pickups have you got in there?

  • Is it harder to do 6 string chords with a fanned neck?

  • Is that a blackmachine

  • dude that is awesome!!. what size of strings do you use to achieve the tightness for that man?

  • brilliant stuff - i can't play that on a normal guitar let alone on some fucked up string-expanded and fret-mutilated one :P (thats a compliment to the guitar not an insult :D)

  • This is really fucking sick!!

  • How much does an Blackmachine F8 cost?

  • @Saculus as much as a car and my college tuition

  • other than looking scrumtrulecent, whats point of slanted frets?

  • @phlamboniousejones It decreases tension on the higher strings (e, B, etc.) which are naturally of higher tension compared to the lower ones as they're smaller and tuned higher, while it does the opposite for the lower strings, it allows them to be tighter and have a more uniform tension across all the strings as opposed to just extending the scale of the entire instrument.

  • it helps with intonation....only other person i'v seen play with them is andy mckee but he plays acoustic..

  • meshuggah is alright, but periphery is where its at!

  • @maddguitarx YES SIR!!!!! do you know what tuning they use?? they only have 7 string guitars

  • nice! Blackmachine!

  • @MrSquitwet shitty Meshuggah? ... idiot

  • hey nolly, that was sick man..is that an 8 string with fanned frets?!?

  • @Niallphillips It is indeed

  • @Nollythegreat god damn, thats a sweet ass guitar, iv never even seen 1 o them before! i did a periphary cover the other day, iv been makin vinyls for my friends lately cz i can get the stuff for free in all kinds o colours and im kind of an artist..gimme a shout of u guys want anything done nd check out the cover if u wana check the quality, myt be a handy way of advertising RSF im you'r cover vids, just a thought...

  • @Nollythegreat fuck you! you started teaching my friend guitar now hes A FAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FUCK SA SLAYER FUKN FAGGOT ASS GLAM METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MultiMonkeyspanker Too uninformed for words, this one.

  • @Nollythegreat Hi Nollie, awesome tune! What's the advantage of fanned frets on a guitar? cheers

  • @Nollythegreat If you dont mind me asking what companty is that guitar you have from?

  • @sdwlsdwl blackmachine

  • @Niallphillips What is the reason for the slanted frets like that?

  • @Bempley the fanned frets make it so the higher up or closer to the bridge you move the hand the more natural the angle your fingers are at are. When most guitarists move their hands past the 12th fret they either have to reposition themselves or the guitar so that they dont feel like they are hurting their wrists....fanned frets makes it feel natural.

  • @lectwar there are fanned frets just because scale length grows from higher E to lower F# strings. consult wikipedia on "Neck (music)" for the proportions.

  • @Niallphillips agreed! awesome riffs!

  • it always cracks me up people on youtube playin OTHER peoples tunes

  • @clintusmaximus caus you cant..

  • Awesome!!!

  • what pick ups are in this?

  • Holy Fucking Shit D:

  • Good choice of song. (Y)

  • How much doe that F8 cost? :O

  • i wish i had a lefty seven string....

  • I LOVE BLACKMACHINES!!! They are amazing. I wish they sold them in the U.S. :/

  • Blackmachines are custom made one at a time, you can buy one if you live in the US...

  • I wish we could hang out

  • If you could play this well, you would need an 8 string too

  • this is an awesome as hell cover

  • trivium and BFMV are two of the worst bands ever. people don't know what good music is nowadays.

this is an excellent cover. dope ass guitar bro.

  • @dvdroshin They aren't the worst bands ever, I can name a couple bands a helluva a lot worse. But I do agree that too many people like music that isn't amazing

  • some huge bitches here. man, more strings is more possibility. that is all, i dont know if you want to play with bassist, or something, but is not about this in deep, is about more range, more notes, and it is more possibility for your creations. the problem is that instruments are not massive, is a bit tricky to get the strings and all

  • ibanez is gay, modern metal sucks its for pussys listen to some real metal bitch

  • @physic4Igraffiti what would u have us listen to? Metallica? pffffttt

  • Yeah, to be tr00 0ldsch00l br00tal metul.

  • What a Cool Guitar ! ! ! !

What guitar is that ?? luthier ??

  • @emersonluizdossantos

It says in the description. It's a Blackmachine F8. And yes, it's a luthier-made guitar.

  • Just because it has 7+ strings doesn't make it suck. The reasons behind the strings is you no longer need a bassist to bring in the low end rhythm or harmony, the singer has deep voice that would need really high pitched guitars to be in the same key, and it has more range so you can come up with more riffs, play keyboard parts, etc. Personally, I like both 6 and 7 string music. Ever hear Trivium's Shogun? Imagine the vocals and instruments being 2.5 steps higher. They couldn't do it.

  • @ibanezdudeck

    Never heard of trivium

  • You obviously aren't into modern metal then. Along with Bullet for My Valentine, Trivium is one of the leading modern metal bands. Revolver magazine had both of those bands on the cover in 2008 when they released they're new albums saying that they would be the top competitors for metal album of the year.

  • Trivium and Bullet aren't leaders of modern metal... They're not even proper metal. They're metalcore (which has significantly different structuring and riffing styles, and also vocal styles). Just that these money hungry magazines have no idea what metal even is. And of course, they wouldn't name a real metal band as a competitor because it's not where the money is - even if they did know what real metal is.

  • You're an idiot.

  • Also, Ibanezdude, it's not about not needing a bassist. You do still need a bassist. The low strings may give you the lower notes of a bass (although not of a bass with the relative lower strings), but it doesn't give you the fat tone of a bass. A lower tuned guitar will never compensate for the low end of a bass. They both have their own unique qualities. I love my 7 string, but I love my 5string bass just as much ^^

  • I'm not saying it totally eliminates the need for a bassist, but I have seen small time bands that just use 8 strings and no bassist so it does help. Second, I'm not saying that Trivium or Bullet are leaders. He said that 7 string had no real mainstream influence so I gave him a mainstream example. I'm not a huge fan of either. They have some good songs, but I like Dream Theater and Sonata Arctica way more.

  • @ibanezdudeck

That's not the reason for a seven string..

There will never be a reason to knock out bass..

  • Comment removed

  • The whole reason low tunings are incorporated in metal is because guitarists wanted a darker sound out of their guitars. Not to extend their range. Hence why they tuned down. The Swedish Death metal scene tuned B-B on their 6s, and the American band Demilich even tuned as low as A-A.

  • @FotogLord44 which is why a 7 string extends your range. It has a low b which you can drop to an a and you now have extremely low one finger power chords on strings that aren't sloppy as hell.

  • Mortician use G Standard 0_o

  • Come on, that's not so fair FotogLord44. There is some nice 7string music out there. Dream Theater do it nicely (Glass Prison for example). I know there's some death metal to do it too, but I can't recall who in particular right now. But we're not all chugging indiecore buggers :P

  • Sayyyyy fucking NEVERMORE anybody?

  • cool vid now im trying to learn it myself...at slower tempo though:D

  • I've never understood the deal with 8 strings... or 10 string bass guitars. I mean, aside from the extended-range, why? I'd say 99% of the people that play 8-strings here on YouTube only play shitty Meshuggah covers; they play no original pieces!

  • @MrSquitwet I half agree. I didn't write anything of much worth during my temporary ownership of this guitar, and I have no plans to buy an 8-string of my own.

However, the extra string doesn't necessarily have to be used at its lowest extent the whole time - it can be very handy to be able to descend an octave lower than normal without moving position.

Those who have taken the time to explore the instrument have certainly produced some unique and fantastic music.

  • @Nollythegreat Not to mention being able to add higher strings, like A.

  • @Nollythegreat I am planning to get an eight string guitar and tune it to GDGCFADG, so I have that extra low end and the higher G. Should be interesting.

  • @Caconymic

    I hear Scale the Summit

  • @Nollythegreat such as colin marston, hes gody

  • @MrSquitwet it doesnt have to be used to create unique music it can be used for convenience like 7 strings, besides 8 strings arent that common so ppl that listen to meshuggah ro other band that is using 8 strings will be buying those guitar and playing songs that they like theres nothing wrong with it...

  • @MrSquitwet

Listen to Scale the Summit, then listen to Animals As Leaders. The first band uses one eight string guitar, one seven string guitar, then a six string bass guitar. Animals As Leaders I think uses two eight string guitars (no bassist for live performances).

  • @Prof3ssrBrando

Scale the Summit uses an extra high-string, not a low F# (or whatever they tune to now) like everyone on YouTube. Matter of fact, I haven't seen ANYONE ever utilize that high string like Chris Letchford.

  • @MrSquitwet

Ah, okay, gotcha. I didn't really know what he used, only that he played an eight string. I play bass, so I don't really study what guitar players are using, I just enjoy the sounds. Hahaha. :P

  • tosin abasi.

  • @MrSquitwet Animals As Leaders

  • @TruNikkaz

    Please read the previous posts.

    Thank you :)

  • @MrSquitwet 99% of the people that play 6 strings play Led Zeppelin covers. What's your point? Besides, "aside from the extended range"... really? Did you really ask that question?

  • @MrSquitwet i actually play the 7 strings of my guitar for complex chords , and solos ... and as an extended range guitar .

but yeah , to play djent , a baritone would be far sufficient ...

  • @MrSquitwet My friend, you haven't heard Chimp Spanner or Animals as Leaders have you?

  • @MrSquitwet I don't know if you have heard Animals As Leaders, but he makes really good use of 8-strings if you feel like checking it out.

  • @MrSquitwet

    Animals as Leaders

    Scale the Summit

    Chimp Spanner

  • @MrSquitwet mechanics only use a few tools at a time, but a good one has all the possible tools ready in case...that is what the 8 strings are about, range. And 99% of youtubers are only 10% of musicians who own an 8 string.

  • @MrSquitwet Tosin Abasi. That's why 8 string guitars are so amazing.

  • Are those conklin guitars?

  • Blackmachine B8

  • @cileth F8* its the one with the sloped features, on a B8 everythign is straight and due to that the B8 has a wider fretboard.

  • Who made your guitar? Is it made by the same company as DaLawn Simpsons? He play a 9 string.

  • Great job, man! Sounds really good.

  • great stuff mate!

  • Personally, I can't decide if I like the guitar, playing, or dressing gown more. Top notch stuff!
