  • @Misel982001 Thank you dude!!!!

  • @Xyphoe my personal top 10 game!!!!XYPHOE XYPHOE HURAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

  • This was one of the truly excellent games for the Amstrad. Better than the C64 version for once :)

  • This took me back. I never got past level 4 myself, but I was only nine years old at the time. Thanks for posting :)

  • Commodore 64 version looks and sounds very good (except for serious sprite overflow / display timing troubles) but as for the gameplay the Spectrum version is the winner.

  • Incredible well played there! Never managed to past area 5 myself (and have been trying for 25 years basicly). The game might have been a lot more possible to complete if it hadnt been for that annoing bug where the bullet just goes right thru the enemy and dont kill them. That one bug really make the game so much harder. Gotta love the smooth scrooling especially as this is a early game.

  • @CholoCPC Yea I think I know what you mean, there was a couple of times in the vid that I'm shooting directly up at enemies coming down at me, but I was to right by a couple of pixels and you can see the bullets whizzing past them. The collision detection is very slighty off for your sprite and bullet collisions in places too looking back now.

  • I can see why the Who Dares Wins series nearly got into trouble back then. Quite similar except this one scrolls.

  • @ash81b4u It did? What's the story behind that ... did Elite/Capcom try to sue? Alligata software did a really good Defender rip off called Defend Or Die too :)

  • @Xyphoe I can't remember where I read it. The first one came out only on the c64. All I remember with the second one is that the coder had to make a few tweaks to the game. I'm afraid I don't know what tho.

  • Wow this looks very nice! Full colour, it scrolls and it looks very playable! I'm highly amazed and impressed with this conversion.

  • @Otouto72 Nice one cheers mate! The speccy version was also a cracker :)

  • @Xyphoe I've only played the Speccy version once but such as Commando I was rubbish lol!

  • An early CPC game but remarkably good.

I used to play Commando in cooperation with a friend.

One was shooting bullets and the other was controlling the hero.

Still we couldn't get past level 5.

    Great video Xyphoe!

  • @alex76gr lol - interesting technique! Reminds me of me and my mate playing Spy Hunter on his old Atari XL - we had two joysticks hooked up, one of the floor which I'd control with my foot for acceleration and braking, the other my mate would steer in his hand and shoot bullets :)

  • i've always been impressed by this game's scrolling. very smooth for a cpc game, and with a pretty large play area too!

  • @poppichicken Yea that's a good point actually, I forgot to mention I didn't like the C64 version with squashed playing area, made worse by having larger sprites.

  • Oh wow... I never managed to get trough the level2...

This game was insanely hard... and well done.

  • @macdeath69 Cheers mate! Just lots and lots of practicing this week! I didn't find it a chore like some other games, this was really genuinely quite fun.
