  • love is the only truth

  • I dont like when people say Kate's version is weird. -.-

    it's certainly NOT.

Kate has such a beautiful voice and wonderful vocal range which made the song sound magical in her version .

  • Memories :)

  • Why so many women are loving on MY man?????

  • Piece of me died watching this movie :'(

  • I fucking love Tom Hardy!

  • @radaalina why? This was Emily Bronte.

  • Love the song! Kate Bush wrote a classic! It is a perfect song for Pat Benatar, she nails it...

  • agreed that pat benatar has an amazing voice but have to say that kates version is better..it has the ghost voice thats meant to reflect the story if you have read the book..its meant to be chilling...and would like to add that Tom Hardy played an amazing Heathcliff..I would definatley come back to haunt him..who wouldnt..hes HOT!!!!!

  • Pat Benatar has an amazing voice and she nailed this song. How can you say there is no feeling behind her voice? It's filled with powerful emotion and expression? The Kate version literally hurt my ears...no offense intended. Perhaps that type of shrill is popular in other culutures and I can respect that. It was just horrible to listen to after hearing such an angelic voice as Pat's performing this.

  • Benatar is the bomb for this song. I agree, Kate's version was okay, but her vocals are not as strong as Pat's.

  • My fave versions of the movie and song. I agree, Kate's version is too weird. Tom Hardy is such a good Heathcliff. Hot!

  • pat benatar has killed this song...

  • I love Pat's version of this gorgeous song, Coupling the gorgeous music ith the fottage from the wonderful Masterpiece Theater footage. is brilliant. I like this very much.

  • I love this movie!

    I think it captures everything!

    And I love the music

  • 3:18-3:28 oh god. my heart!

  • TOM HARDY WAS A WONDERFUL HEATHCLIFF.

  • the best love story ever!!!

  • One of the best Heathcliff I've seem done by Tom Hardy just great but I didn't like the ending it was to sad .After all the sacrifice he still didn't have the girl in the end .

  • This isn't a movie - it was a BBC production for TV but I think you can buy it from Amazon UK (or maybe Amazon.com as well - dont know). The stars of this are engaged to eachother now - they apparently feel in love on the set! How adorable is that! Tom Hardy is gorgeous and is absolutely amazing in this.

  • beautiful, thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How have both of these beautiful Actors been passed up by People magazines most beautiful people issues....look at there actual pictures..btw they are together in real life...sigh....so glad I discovered this movie...the book was too confusing...but the movie out shined any Twilight Movie by far.

  • Huh. I've seen every Wuthering Heights adaption under the sun yet this one escaped me? How on earth did that happen? I better get watching!

  • Good lord. :34 scared the crap out of me. xD

  • Where can I download this movie version in 2009?

    Please is very important (!)

    =)

  • You should've used kate's version.. This one's emotionless.

  • Yes. I owned a copy of "Crimes of Passion" since high school and when someone allowed me to hear the Kate Bush version, I was NOT impressed. Pat is the queen.

  • Kate's is the original - she wrote it and sang it first.

  • @MidEasterner - Who gives a shit- Kate sucks and so does her singing. It's god awful!

  • @MidEasterner -Just because someone writes a song, doesn't mean they should record it! Kate's version sucks! Benatar's voice is 100^% better than Kate's. Kate's version (may be the original, but still a version) is comical. Sounds as though she should be on a episode of Sesame Street! lol

  • I agree with NLee777. Pat's version sounds more mature, but Kate's version sounds like it's done by an elf or some weird creature from the abyss LOL

  • that part when Pat sings, "it's me, Kathyyyyy..." is worth the price of admission :)

  • @nazreyes Yes it is like a creature from another world , Kathy looking for her lost love ,thats what the song is about and this version sounds like an cheerful strole in the park lol no emotion or darkness of the soul

  • @medievalMoon2 I agree--the desperate longing is missing from Pat's phenomenal voice...although I do like the high, plaintive sound of the vocal harmonies when she sings "You know it's me---Cathy!"

  • @nazreyes lol!!!

  • I cannot believe they are already making another version of WH, and the next version always worse than the last.

  • There has been so many versions of WH and the next always worse than the last.

And they are already making another version with Ed Westwick.

The choice of Cathy was originally Natalie Portman but she backed out and then Gemma Arterton ( Great choice) but she was to busy.

Now they have decided on a little known actress and I am not to fussed on their choice as she has nothing remotely Cathy about her. So it will probably be just another disappointment.

  • Pat Benatar rocks this song and this is the best Wuthering Heights made. Great vid for this! You did an excellent job putting the emotion and feeling with the visuals and the music as well. Kudos to you!

  • but Pat Benatar hit the high harmony, that no other singer, including the writer of the song Kate Bush didn't even attempt, with Neil Geraldo on guitar, sorry, the Benatar's band version blew all the others away for the simple reason that she hit the hight notes and it was a rock version.

  • pat benatars version sucks, it's cheesy, emotionless, and kitschy. Kate's is an incredible ballad that really sends a message to all it's listeners. This is awful

  • I somehow missed this version of the movie...I have the original one,non colorized with Laurance Olivier...They are remaking this movie and it is supposed to come out this year...with Ed Westwick as Heathcliff,I think he will be perfect!!

  • best song pat ever done ....have ALWAYS loooved it

  • Ms. Benatar's version "drags" compared to both Ms. Bush's original and Ms. Westenra's cover imo.

  • I prefer the Puppini sisters & Kate Bush's albums better tbh

  • his hair is exactly like mine, same colour n everything.

  • Always liked this song on pat benatar's album-before I saw movie-but I love this version-so it may not be the same as the book but its so good really it has shown me the depth of their love-the all encumbering, possessive, dark, selfish, innocent at times, hating at times, angry, wild love and deep bond they had-this version- moves me and I always cry so sad-and with song perfect, hauntingly can't get it out of my mind--Cathy beautiful free spirit and Tom Hardy such a good brooding heath cliff-luv it

  • perfect!!!

  • I prefer the original too, this is great though much better than hayley westenras irritating version aswell

  • Don't touch Hayley Westenra, that kind of opinion is so ridiculous!

  • Pat Benatar's vocals are brilliant, but nothing captures the madness and wildness of the book like Kate Bush's amazing original.

The music and orchestration is miles better on the original too.

  • Well it is made pretty clear in the novel that Heathcliff starves himself to death...in a way committing suicide to join Cathy in death.

  • it made a lot of sense this ending because the end of the book was like... huh? maybe this was because back then it made sense to die just like that but nowadays it seams at least strange ... so I had no problem with the ending.

  • I had never seen this movie or read the book, but this beautiful video prompted me to purchase this DVD movie (something I never do). It was absolutely wonderful (a 20-tissue flick!). Thank you for the inspiration. I still keep coming back to this video, Pat Benetar's voice is so hauntingly beautiful.

  • now that I think about it, his eyebrows are not nearly thick enough to be Heathcliff's

  • lol

  • 3:39 KYAA D'=

  • i've watched this video three times tonight and it makes me feel more sentimental every time!!! GOOD JOB

I'm working on a powerpoint project on the book right now, so this is good to play in the background lol :D

  • I don't see why people take such offence when someone like's the cover version better than the original. Of course, the writer and original performer has the great credit of actually creating the song, but people are allowed different taste. A lot of artists actually love hearing their songs interpreted by other musicians!

  • On the Pat Benatar/Kate Bush debate, keep in mind that Kate did two versions of it. The original, on The Kick Inside, and a "new vocal" version on The Whole Story. I prefer the "new vocal" version out of all 3. Hayley Westenra did a version that was pretty good. I wanted to hear Ann Wilson do it, in her prime, but as far as I know she never did. There are a LOT of other covers of it, many here on youtube. Some crappy, others pretty good.

  • pat benatar does this perfect

  • Benatar is ageless

  • Heathcliff is nuts but he was treated very badly by Hindley so I feel sorry for him.

  • Such a frustrating, gut wrenching love story. You just want to shake some sense into the characters for their arrogance and stupidity - especially Kathy.

  • This is such a beautiful song, and it shows just how good Pat's voice is!!!!

  • My favorite version of the song is by Pat Benatar, hands down. Kate's version was just too weird for my taste.

  • I agree, besides I prefer Pat's mezzo soprano, because it has so much emotional depth. Kate's voice was just too high and did give the song too much of a spooky surreal feel to the song.

  • i agree like this vrsn much better than kate's

no disrespect to ms. bush of course

  • @NLee777 I totally agree...I do NOT like Kate Bushs version even the she is the writer and original singer of theis song.

  • @NLee777 . . . i always thought Pats version was the best by a mile, but as i grow older i do appreciate the original by Kate Bush much more than i ever did.

  • @NLee777 She only wrote it !

  • @NLee777 I agree, I love Benatar's version. Kate Bush wrote this song, and for that I have to credit her. It's a beautiful and powerful song, but especially when it's done by Pat Benatar. Probably because the characters had a harshness that Bush's sound is too 'lite n' sweet'' for.

There are, I don't know how many versions of the movie, and yet I read another is in the works for next year, but for me,....nothing comes close to the original movie and Benatar's version of this song.

  • @NLee777

Blasphemy. Love Pat, but Kate is Kate

  • @NLee777 Kate's always the best.

  • Tom Hardy is hot

  • he is the absolute hottest!

  • tom hardy was such an absolutely amazing heatcliff, he totally caputured everything that heathcliff was, and all the different parts to him all rolled in to one, plus, tom is really sexy hehe

  • Pat Benatar's version of this song is so much better then Kate Bush's her version makes the song look like a joke Pats vocal on this is amazing and totally better then Kate's

  • Absolutely!!!

Kate's version is too reedy, willowy, and light.

But at least she wrote it.

  • this singer doesnt capture the meaning of the song. it could be any love story- kate bush's had the despair and madness and passion that is exclusive to wuthering heights.

  • i couldnt agree more..nothing could top kate's version

  • this is a good version of the song:)

  • bellissima canzone e libro stupendo!

  • Haha read the book; it's heartbreaking!

  • Playing this song at the exact same time as the original gives birth to the most terrifying thing ever heard by man.

    I love it.

  • Could they make a Heathcliff the lost years! Of course the lead role would have to be played by my one & only Heathcliff Tom Hardy!!

  • that would great wouldn't it? Where was he those 3 years?

  • she sings it much better than the others...

  • Love the Pat Benatar remake best - Long live Benatar!

  • wasnt the singer of this song kate bush?

  • Yes, Kate Bush was the original singer of this song. However, Pat Benatar did a remake of it.

  • The book is definitely amazing. I like the song very very much, too. Catherine's point of view is powerfully presented in a morbid gothic, but also passionate romantic manner.

  • Why can't they show this movie in theater in the US? I've finished reading the book and now desperately need to see a movie version that represent the book well

  • its on dvd and was shown on PBS in Jan..

  • Oh look, it's the woman in The Take with him. Looks very good. x

  • i love this movie so much but it is sad :(

  • Where does anyone know where I can find the movie?

  • The US dvd can now be bought on Amazon but it wont be on tv in the uk until the end of the year, on ITV 3 i believe.

  • I know you can order from Barnes and Noble (if you look under the Masterpiece Theatre section of the DVDs), but...beyond that, I'm not sure where else it would be.

  • The video is amazing! And the music is awesome!

  • im so amazed by this movie..i saw it 3 days ago and im still thinking about it!!!!!!!!!!the book is one of the greatest stories ever..i would love to chat about the movie with people who loved it too.....

  • very well done. Kudos to Tom Hardy (Heathcliff)

  • Oh, I soo agree!! He managed to make Heathcliff as cruel as he is in the book, and yet I had sympathy with him. Not to mention he looks exactly like what I imagined Heathcliff to look like (very, very hot) xD

  • heathcliff..its me im cathy i've come home,,,,

  • The vocal on this cover of "Wuthering Heights" lacks emotion compared with Kate Bush.

  • This is SOOO much less scary than the Kate Bush version. Seriously, that version is just weird.

  • I don't care much for kate bush's version myself

  • great as a movie .. but sucks as an adaptation of brontes novel... whats with all that touching and licking.... where is the platonic love..the darkness...all that repression? the very essence of the novel is gone..

  • I don't remember licking. Did I miss something in the movie?

  • umm. if i missed any licking... i'd like to see the dvd extras, please. hello!

  • This was my FAVORITE version of Wuthering Heights!

  • my favorite too.

  • Mine too!

  • One of my alltime favorite novels, Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte--such passion . . . Love this song too--I prefer Pat Benatar's version . . . she has the haunting voice which recalls the windy Yorkshire moors . . .

  • Note that Pat Benatar is heard here, but this song was originally by Kate Bush. Pat covered it.

  • Great video! Love the song with it. Made it more romantic and...heartbreaking. Yea!!

  • best EVAAA!!
