I was grinding my teeth the whole time watching the stress the pilot was putting this model through. horrible to see such a beautiful model crash.............
why did he do a loop so close to the ground, when you can see the stress on the wings by the g-force throughout the flight!?!?! between the fuel, the jet engine etc, the added weight was going to tax the plane's structure.. I wouldn;t do a loop like that with an unburdened glider!
also ich finde da is er selberschuld den ein segler mit 9 meter spnw hat nunmal wabblige flügel das ist kein f3b segler mit dem man mit 200 kmH schnell rumdüsen kann
come on, after what you put it through.. I fly full size gliders and models, ventus is not aerobatic.. why didnt you build a fox.? shame, super workmanship.. sad end
Yes, I partly agree. However, gliders are capable of relatively high speeds (ie, real Ventus2: 285km/h). But(!), at these speeds you should never pull too many G's (only use small deflections on all axes).
If the pilot of this model would have flown in a more normal way, then even this model could have handled the speeds shown in the video.
I have to correct you here, weight of those turbines isn't always the problem. In this case it was the wing strength being too weak for those kind of turns.
Also on full-scale gliders you can see more and more turbine powered (helper-)engines, they have a relatively light weight.
However, this is a glider, not an aerobatic plane. It is designed for slow ride, NOT HUGE SPEED, and agressive turns. And that loop in the end...:(:(:(:(
Didn't see the pilot when the wings formed almost a circle ???? I realy dont understand.... It was a beautiful machine..
Not A Stunt Plane, Do B2 Stealth Bombers do loops ? no because it stresses the plane out too much, This pilot is fired. With that much money on the line you would think they would treat it like driving a car.
anybody in avaition knows gliders can be the fastest and aerobatic too ,,,but apparently he didnt build this one to meet his frame stressing flying ,i bet if he makes another it will be flown more scale like and be much stronger otherwise he will have another expensive heap
If the wind span is longer than the body, don't do aerobatics! Too much stress goes into the wings. I did see that video with a plane landing that only had one wing left! A master of flying that was! But this was just unlucky.
There are lots of (also full scale-) gliders that can, and are allowed to perform aerobatics. If the wing structure is build strong enough, there is not a problem.
Of course everything can be be over stressed, like the unlucky Ventus in this movie.
Of course, there must have been weak spots that had been wearing away over time, although it must be said that if he was more careful and made thorough checks for each flight, e.g. flying surface inspections, it probably would be ok. Now inspecting what happened, it seems it was doomed before making the loop. When it leveled out, it snapped the opposite way I thought it would, and was probably hanging on the metal paneling on the wing, kept in place by centrifugal force while in the loop.
OOOPS! a little over stress me thinks! just whem it was going so well too.
Oh well.
