  • you play the picking wrong also he don't play it in that key..

  • Real Cool Mark. How do you do the A walk at the end. I don't seem to get it right. I am still a rookie you know.

  • When this video first started off with you singing, my jaw literally dropped. Then I thought you were just lip-syncing. You have an absolutely lovely voice.

  • who signed your guitar?

  • Really nice and a great voice. This is the best thing about YouTube, ordinary people with talent showing what they can do. Thanks for posting it.

  • please do the tab for this song... please...:)

  • Thanks for the lesson, but it was hard to hear you over the wallpaper.

  • Nice job. When you slide down the neck from A Maj what do you change to get the sound - three progressions. Thanks!

  • You play this song beautifully and have a wonderful voice. Can you please at least give us the picking pattern for this song.? For example the number of the string you pluck so that it would be easy to follow. Thanks alot.

  • i would like to learn to play this song cause is really great and cause Im in love!; will be a gift for my girl... for a beautiful reason her name is Ana! You have helped given many people much joy. Thanks for sharing your talent to others - you have enriched others' lives as a result. May the good Lord bless you always.

  • great song! great video! 2 thumbs up!

  • I really dig this video. you are so cool!

  • u have great skills and equally beautiful voice....

    i m ur fan....

  • Great version... I find that the left hand is a piece of cake...the problem is the right hand...I saw the notation written out but I was taught that T=thumb on E,A, or D, 1=1st finger on G string, 2= 2nd finger on B string and 3=3rd finger on E. Would it be possible to either post or write directly how you would translate that out to the way you played it? I would be ever appreciative if you or someone would do so. You're the best teacher out there here imho but Annie's Song is my Waterloo!

  • thank you learnd alot from your lessons

    god bless

  • You're at the top when it comes to guitar lessons. Amazing talent.

  • Do you learn all the songs with the fingerpicking and everything, from a book, or by watching, or ? I have not found a book that includes picking pattern...it's a mystery to me, how you figure it out! so cool, it's so exciting to learn these songs, and have them sound exactly how they should! thanks again.

  • I play by ear. But sometimes I can pick up parts of the songs by watching a video on youtube.

  • @goldhat3 i've been watching your videos, you are an amazing guitarist!i wish i'll be like you someday! Thanks Maestro!your the best!

  • Great goldhat...simply great! I love JD and I just started playing. Any chance you could elaborate on the picking pattern at all? It's hard for me to pick up. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for all you do here.

  • greattttt,,can i have the chords plsss,

  • i m so agree, best music ever. so sorry abouth denvers death.

  • im a beginner and i found out that there are songs that a beginner can play like annie's song. If you will be taught with those right chords and fret and plucking, you will sound good like JD. watch

    annie's song -fargenbastich

  • Thank you...I am 51 i had tickets to a johndenver concert in 76..he got sick and cancelled..I never saw him in person...I wish I had..I think he and bread played some of the most beautiful songs of my generation...It is very nice of you to share your talent to teach others...I can now play Annies song quit well..thanks to you...now where can i buy a voice?????

  • how about playing it first from the 5th fret? i saw JD videos here playing it from the 5th fret first and it sound so good.

  • you have to have a JD high pitched voiced...otherwise like me you sound like a frog in heat...ill stay with the ist fret..untill god grants me the voice i have prayed for...

  • That is awesome. I've seen your video before and I just pulled it up again for a refresher and I am impressed yet again. Outstanding work.

I would love to see a video explaining the basic fingerstyle pattern you are mentioning. I didn't understaand the numbers you wrote.

And great cover as well by the way.

  • Out of all the Annie Song teachers, you are the best! It sounds so much better when you play it. Very classical acoustic like. God Bless you!

  • Is that a Zager? I am getting ready to take the plung on one of those myself. You play nicely, an inspirational video.

  • wow thank you so very much for posting this. too awesome!!! Much peace to you my friend and all you hold dear

  • I have to agree with 1cont. Thank you. You are talented and gifted and giving.

  • i just wanted to hear the song, but this is awesome.

  • Your chord progression is correct, but Denver played the song with the low E tuned to a D for a fuller sound - and obviously the G, F#m and Em chord will have different fingerings when played as such - but sounds much richer - especially when played on a 12 string - he also went from D to Dmaj7/C# to Bm on the walk down

  • Thank you Very much sir.. i soo wanted to learn this song but untill now i failed.. thank you ever soo much.. !

  • you are a great man. thanks for the post excellent

  • pala

  • Ihave never been able to pick very good until I started watching lessons keep it up .

  • Your great keep it up!!!

  • Another nice one! It would help in all of these videos to have the guitar just a tad louder.

  • ihow do you know what picking pattern to use with differnt songs. That the part i dont understand,i know there are many, many differnt patterns.Could you please post some of the most used paterns, thanks

  • Please play some other John Denver song! You're great!

  • is that a mini martin?..

  • Love the sound of the guitar thanks

  • its an amazing song but as a lesson you dont run through the picking technique as a beginner id love to learn this would you be able to go through this.

  • I have been playing the guitar (6 and 12 string) for about 20 years. As a beginner, you really do not want to start with John Denver songs!! He normally tuned the low E string to D and uses hammers like they were going out of style. It is a very sophisticated method -- sounds beautiful -- and usually made a little simpler by changing keys and using a capo. You right hand picking is usually thumb, ring, index and middle finger rotation. Start with Bob Dylan until you can do it blindfolded!!

  • Nicely done. Thank you much for the help.

  • I don't think i will ever playu the guitar, i practice everyday, but it's so frustraiting, i can't stand it, i play a note, and i don't even know what note i play, it's sad! do you think i still have hope? lol, like i said, frustraiting, Nice video anyhow =D

  • i didnt know newt gingrich could play

  • Hi,

Could you explain the right hand patterns. Great if you have close up shots of the right/left hand playing. I really want to learn this song. Thanks.

  • Excellent..thank you! Bought my first Taylor just tonight...had Guild for years because of John and only just now got to the Taylor...Thx again! Peace, Mary

  • I know what you mean. I have a guild dreadnought and jumbo because I always admired John's guitars. I sure would like to get one of those Koa JD Taylors he had in the wildlife concert.

  • Oh, add me to that wish! I want EVERYthing he ever played on...did do the Ovation but just wasn't that crazy about it...but the sound from this Taylor which is far from broken in yet is just amazing. I don't know if you're near a Sam Ash but they're having a huge anniversary sale which is what made me able to even approach the Taylor - I'm in 7th heaven!

  • Nice! As a matter of fact, I just went to the Taylor new guitar workshop at Sam Ash here in Raleigh about a week ago. They brought all the guitars, gave demos, and let us play them all. Talk about heaven! My dream is the GC7 short scale cedar and rosewood model.Maybe if youtube would share a little of the ad revenue with us I could get one. Yahoo!!

  • ooooooooooooooooo tell me, tell me - evidently I've missed that one...oh, rosewood and cedar...sounds like "almost heaven" to me! I had no IDEA Sam Ash gives workshops! I was in such a state in the store that I probably wouldn't have noticed if elephants were flying above me!!! Nice to hear from you again and looking forward to more more more of you!

  • thank you. more to come? pls

  • can you please explane the picking abit better please?

  • I agree...I had trouble picking up the right hand. Can you break it down please? Ya ya, I KNOW I'm a klutz!

  • Thanks for that - good quality tuition with just the right level of technical explanation to make sense - brilliant!

  • thanks man

  • Thanks for the lesson. You're great! Keep on posting
