  • Been trying to wrap my head around this for a long time. Seeing this made it all come together for once. Now I understand it overall, finally! I can delve deeper into it now and understand more when I use wireshark.

  • Is that what you told about session layer correct ? I learnt it as session layer is used for separating one application data from another application data. Its used for security. isnt it like that ?

  • My lecturer used this video instead of explaining the OSI model by himself.

  • you are like a 1000000000000 times better then my teacher, very nice tutorial. thanks a lot

  • What CBT training series is this from? and who is the instructor?

  • Why not do them in order....?

  • its not an acronym, its a mnemonic

  • One thing I do NOT like is starting with the last layer and going to the first in your mnemonic. I memorized the OSI layers from 1 - 7, not 7 - 1.

  • A repeater doesn't amplify a signal it makes a copy of it. When an analog signal is amplified the data is distorted.

  • @tjl30 Yeah. An amplifier is used to amplify analogue signals when attenuation occurs. When an analogue signal is distorted by such things like Electromagnetic Interference, that too, is amplified.

When a digital signal is distorted, the repeater will regenerate the signal back to its original state.

  • Another tip for remembering the OSI layers

    Please -Physical

    Do -Datalink

    Not -Network

    Through -Transport

    Sausage -Session

    Pizza -Presentation

    Away -Application

Thumbs up if it was helpful to you! :)

  • Love this series!...

    Network+ student.

  • Hahaha... Me tooo  but i need the diploma

  • I should've skipped class and listened to this guy. Thanks.

  • thanks alot dude i have to present this in 2 days lol

  • Comment removed

  • that's great, thanks

  • Thank you!!! this guy explains this soooo much better than my lecturer

  • very good

  • @ fleckx...i learned the all people....etc 1st but

your sentence is super helpful..thanks for the addition

  • 1. it's called a mnemonic

    2. i prefer a sentence I came up with: application's present sessions for transport to the network's data link which becomes physical.

it tells you a bit more about what is actually happening in the OSI model.

  • OSI model has a ton of shit to remember but if you want to be an IT person its a must to remember.

  • Good vid but i miss one important thing.

Encryption that takes place on the presentation layer 6.

A logical question on a exam is: On witch layer takes encryption is done in the OSI Model.

  • Your explanations are great~!

  • im down for a blaze session after this vid

  • so im just a session?

  • gret ,,,maaaaaaaaaan you rock ..

please upload more of your videos about TCP/IP ..

many more cuz your way of teaching is osaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamm...

  • zabardast! wonderful! u made it easy for the people who wanna kick off the networking as their profession, doesn't mean that one will be master after this video but it could be easy to understand the idea what they read in books.good work ! make some more.

  • davvero interessante questo video! credo che l'e-learning sia davvero il futuro della formazione... proprio per questo mi sono iscritta all'università telematica unisu che mi permette di ottimizzare al massimo i tempi di studio

  • man this is great i hop that you are getting paid a lot

  • excellent

  • great man, you really make it easy to understand :) thank you

  • laaaaaame...

Seriously, at least practice this crap before just actually making the video. It's hard to get past all the idiocy of some of this video to take it that serioucly. Pronounciation is just sad.... Yeahhoo? it's ya hoo moron...wow.

  • Thanks from India.

The way you make us understand OSI is great.

I must say U are the best.....

  • helpful, i'm following the CCNA course, the second semester. Thanks

  • Studying OSI and TCP/IP at college at the moment. Video was a great help, thanks!!

  • very helpful, thankyou.

  • Thanks Man you really helped me! A trainer came down from Aus to train us and he mentioned the OSI model! Yr intro is great! Im watching the 2nd one now! Thanks again... Will subscribe

  • AppPresenSessionTransNetDataPhys =)

  • All Pimps Stick Tiny Needle D**ks in Poop.

I can't stand this video, *throws up*

  • It's truly awesome !!!!

  • Thank you so much for this video, i'm in the process of learning this in my IT class in high school.

    thanks again!

  • great video and explanations...this has given me a clearer picture of the OSI model. I was struggle to understand it but you have helped me heaps...many thanks

  • OATH OF THE NEW ADMIN:

I, as a network administrator, shall protect data. Protect it from corruption. Protect it from harm of confidentiality and manipulation. Protect it, so that we as the human race, shall keep our information personally perfect.

So, I pay homage to my friends, the protocols.

  • The best post on here is Martyg118 (I hope your a chick).

  • What the hell is an ANOLOGY?

  • 0:08 It's called a mnemonic :P

  • thanks for posting this video!

  • This video is great. It is absolutely fabulous. I think that the person in the video is truly amazing to share such information with all of us.

  • 1:15

  • OMG a repeater doesn't amplify the signal, it just repeats it.

For example, if you have two computers, separated by some distance that is too great for a single cable you would place a repeater somewhere in between that would make covering the gap possible.

Perfect example of why it's important to source multiple resources.

  • your wrong it reshapes the signal, dont use the name in your definition also the final was stupid hard.

  • He didn't say a repeater amplifies. He implied the analogous analog device would be an amplifier, which is correct, right?

If you had an opamp with enough gain to be operating at the rails no matter what, and it receives an attenuated signal which it then amplify it to the rails, you pretty much have a digital repeater, right?

  • Actually... It does amplify the signal If the distance between the exceeds the distance allowed for that particular type of media the signal weakens the further it has to travel (known as Attenuation). The repeator does repeat the input, signal, 1's and 0's. whatever you want to call it and AMPLIFY them. If it only repeated them as you say, what would be the point. Perfect example of why it's important to klnow what you are talking about before posting a response like yours Qwerty. LOL

  • Yeah Einstein and it amplifies it too, why else would you need it if it didn't. Think of the concept.

  • This is a pretty good video. The CCNA test must be exremely hard!

  • also known for that 7 layer model is "Please Do Not Throw Sausage Pizza Away". Hehe, network+ is freaking hard
