He's an arrogant sod. His huge ego drives him to win at any cost, resulting in him over using the whip. For instance his 25 hits on Rewilding (R.I.P) in the last two furlongs of the 2011 St James palace stakes in order to beat Ballydoyle's So You Think.
He jumps of his horses like he's the second coming. Where really he's only won one Derby in 19 years. Explain that ?
How can you say he's anywhere near the ability of Kieren Fallon, Ryan Moore or Johnny Murtagh
horses are forced to race yes but they ar bred to race! thoroughbreds are RACEHORSES!!
the whips are there to encourage the horse! they are only allowd to use the whips a certain amount in each race mostly they are just showing the orse the whip.
i get really annoyed when people diasagree with horse racing.
Thoroughbreds are born to race. they enjoy it. when the jockey gets unseated why do the thoroughbreds continue with out their jockey? yes they are herd animals but they are also very competetive. they love it. there is nothing cruel abou the age they are ready to race by the age of two if not earlier, their tendons have developed and they are ready to start their career.
Ah yes, born to race... did you know though that 300-350 horses die on the tracks alone in the US each year - and that close to 800 die on tacks in the UK? Isn't that a little abusive sounding to you?? Horses just don't "break their legs" while running leisurely or for play. These animals are DYING! Why?? So we can flip on the tube and watch them for our entertainment - and gamble over which is fastest? Horse racing is a thing of the past. It needs to be made illegal.
Why have you come on a horse racing vid that celebrates frankie dettori if you dont like it? go spoute your crap somewhere else!!people who watch these like racing, as do millions of people all over the world. horses have been racing for centuries and centuries, they enjoy running, if they didnt like it then they wouldnt do it like so many who dont come out of the stalls and plant themselves at the start!!
what the fuck! horses dont break their legs that often and racing is just as dangerous for the horse as cross country and show jumping! racing has been going on for years horses die all ove the world the die for different reasons. if you dont fucking like racing dont watch this fucking video!

A tribute to someone who works in one of the world's cruelest industries? When 900 horses die on American tracks annually. it's hard for me to think of this "Frankie Dettori" as a hero..racing beautiful intelligent beings to their deaths, literally.Since racehorses are only "good" for a few short years-they must be sent somewhere after their "career" and for many animals this includes a trip to a slaughterhouse or a feedlot, where they'll be sold to some family who can't even take care of a dog
Race horses are raced much too young - their birthdays completely fudged. Horses may be raced as young as just 12 months old. They will be fed diets of only grain, which will often result in ulcers or cancer later in life. While horses do run when kept as pets or in the wild, they never run for so long as such great speeds. They often break their legs or backs, especially in steeplechase races. Horses who can no longer run can't all be put into shelters or good homes because there aren't enough!
First of all, much care is taken into recording the horse's actual birthdate; I know this from working around breeding horses for more than a year. Second of all, no horse less than a year old has a prayer of ever setting foot on a race track - they may race before they are actually two, but they are bred to do this and it actually makes their tendons and bones stronger and more resistant to injury later in life.
Everything else you say, I agree with, and wish that some action could be
taken to correct. I wish that racehorses were given more natural forage which would reduce their ulceration rate (which is also true of all show horses - the ulceration rate is about 95% in horses under any kind of stress).
Now, steeplechase racing has a bad rap because of the jumps, but flat racing on dirt is much, much harder on horses because of the greater speeds they're working and and because there's less slide to the dirt than the grass. Quite often, both horse and rider walk away
Casualties are incredibly common for humans and horses. There is a difference though. The humans CHOOSE to race and put their lives on the line. But the horses obviously can't. They can't just cancel a contract or walk away. They are literally forced to race - what do you think those whips are for??
What a horrible idea! Just because we see something we don't like, doesn't mean we should ignore it! It means we need to do something about it... or it's just going to keep happening. Horses will keep dying if no one wants to stand up for them.
Do you all seriously believe the American/British horse racing industries are completely legit and cruelty free? Haven't you ever seen in the news a list of race horses who've died on the track that month? It may be sad and hard to to accept, but the reality of it is that it is indeed, in most cases, abusive to the horses participating. They have no say. They can't just "cancel the contract"; they have to race... and many times, after or during the race they die of related injuries or sickness.
Its got everything to do with it , Englands the home of horse racing there for we have the best jockeys. Humans get severly injured ,paraliysed and so on the sort of injurys if happend to a horse it would get put down. The horses want to race.
The very same things happen in racing all over the globe. I might be American, but I love international racing, especially British racing and its jockeys. But for you to trash my country, not just my racing and my jockeys, was completely uncalled for. Trust me, British racing has enough of its own skeletons in its closet.
The horses want to race?? Did they tell you that? How do you know they 'want' to race?
Look at the fear in their eyes, the sweat on their bodies, the wounds on their backsides! Read a book about how many die each year on the tracks. Where do you think retired racehorses go? They sure aren't going to the Holiday Inn - they mostly all end up in slaughterhouses or feedlots...
the horses are bread to race , they feel its there duty , thats why they always carry on running even when the jockys has fallen off. i agree a lot more shoulld be done for injured and retired horses

An ideal song to use for background music would be Devo's "Whip It" since Frankie loves the whip so much.

I named my first born son Frankie in honour of this great horseman and gentleman.
