  • How do these drums perform in the studio? I've heard a number of recordings of DW collector's series drums EQ'd and all that and they sound fantastic but how do these respond in those circumstances? I like the singing tonality of DW's and the versitility in the snare and bass drums to exactly what you want them to do. It just seems to me that the snares and kicks in the classics series are less versitile. Can anyone speak to this?

  • @kemallett We will let some people chime in first. For a good refference of what a good mix of different drums sound like with a Zoom H4N mic check the link below and let us know what you think. :)

  • Nevermind my last question. I found the FAQ section of the DW site and found out what to do.

  • @TheProphetOfWrath Ok sounds good. Thanks for choosing DW!

  • I know I'm REALLY far from this, but what does it take to be a DW artist? Fame and talent? I've asked other drum-related companies questions before and they usually never answer. You guys actually care and answer people's questions. Also, to add on to that, you make incredible drums and hardware. I got the PDP X7 yesterday and I don't think I'll ever swap that for anything other than an actuall DW set. So if you could tell me the steps to get to endorsement that would be great. : )

  • I love DW and especially DW 9000 hardware series, but why does the hi hat stand keeps "dancing"? It's funny. Please someone answer seriously.

  • @Rushfan551 It could be the way the high hat is set up. With a 2 leg high hat you might get a little more "dance" compared to the 3 legged set up. The 2 leg should do the trick and can be very sturdy with a double pedal set up.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc

    Thanks, it helped a lot.

  • @Rushfan551 Anytime! We are here to help.

  • What an amazing drummer! Loving the super solid on the right there!

  • @scott111193 Gil is a a great drummer. Quite a side snare huh? :)

  • OCDP is practically gone.

  • what does ://dwdr(dot)ms/AbGn9e mean?

  • @metallicasam36 it's a URL, but cleverly written so YouTube doesn't block it. Replace the "(dot)" with an actual "." and throw that badboy into your browser. Should all make sense then ;)

  • 9:05 just wow!!

  • He's been this good for a while, but he's just gotten quality recognition these last few years or so.

  • Really nice sounding kit. If I just had the money (: But can you tell me about the cymbals? I know it's Zildjian K's but I don't know the exact models. Please reply.

  • @metallicasam36 Check Gil's cymbal set up here.

  • @mattoffthewall He can play plenty of styles with plenty of style!

  • For reasons unknown, people are just now finding out about Gil Sharone. He's been really, really good for a long, long time and all of a sudden, he's on Modern Drummer and making DVD's. Drum community fail.

    Collector's Series Maple Exotic

Cherry Cluster Natural to Deep Rich Red Fade

    with Chrome Hardware.

    7x8(X), 8X10 (VLT), 9X12 (VLT), 14X14 (X), 16X16 (VLX),

    18X22 (VLX)

6.5X14 Maple Snare (VLT no re-hoops)

Natural Super Solid Snare (unknown size and thickness)

  • BOOOM BOOM HIT DRUM SMASH

  • @noheadlesschicken4 Well hopefully one these days. The most affordable would be a finish ply finish. Coincidentally it is the most durable finish also. The best size would be 7x10 X shell snare with our standard bearing edge. A deeper shell will insure less overtone or decay and the lower pitched shell will also fight agains the lower tone too. The snare will still have plenty of higher tune-ability and pop!

  • absolute killer drummer, one of my favorite modern drummers around. versitile and still a unique style of his own

  • @VITVBAND Well said. He does have his own style while knowing how to mix in the old school groove. :)

  • @noheadlesschicken4 We can make them no problem. What kind of sound are you going for with that size though exactly?

  • ah, the "make everything you do look hard" style. a pro tho

  • @speedoflite1 in what way? i think he's doing all that with ease and great feel! cheers!!

  • @funkymunkydrummer the Jojo Mayer, Tony Royster, Ronald Bruner, Jr. way of makin' it look easy, bro.

  • @speedoflite1 You know it! :)

  • @noheadlesschicken4 We would love more than anything to have playing DW more affordably. Have you looked into the Performance Series yet? dwdrums(dotcom/drums/performance/. Our remote high hats are made here in Oxnard, CA so it is hard to keep the pricing down unfortunately. :(.

  • @noheadlesschicken4 Bashing can be good sometimes. ;) Thanks!

  • What an amazing drummer! And you can really tell he's being sincere about his comments.

  • @cellistdrummer Yeah Gil is a great guy. He loves what he does and we love having him in the DW family!

  • I love the sounds of those toms.

  • @jesskahl Thanks!

  • well that settles it. i'm switching to DWs. No freakin question.

  • @camdobbs01 Awesome! Always feel free to ask any questions about DW here or our Customer Service at 1-800-45-Drums ext. 450. Thanks so much for watching!

  • he was sick with dillinger escape plan live.

  • I know this video is about the drums and all. But his cymbals sound amazing!

  • Cool to see he came to the best company.. That kit sounds sweet as hell.

  • @99siks10 Thanks for thinking we are the best. :) Gil helps the kit do it's thing we think.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc You guy's should do a demo video with sean kinney :] he's an endorser right?

  • @axedstoninst Sean Kinney is one of our endorsers. We would love to get Sean to do a video for us. Great idea! Thanks!

  • Damn that drum is gonna need a therapist cuz it just got raped the shit out of

  • Must be tough to become a full time endorser.........or is it?

  • @drummahboijosh It is so too speak. You have to have a good amount of mainstream credits, chops and exposure. It also helps to be endorsing other drum type companies also.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc What kind of hi-hat model is the primary and the remote. They sound great!

  • @5drum5 Thanks! The primary is 2 legged 9000 series and the the remote it looks like it the 9212 closed high hat arm.

  • soooo dynamic, I might sound like a retard excited kid but it`s true...you amaze me day by day I can`t handle it=))...BEAUTIFULLLLL sound!

  • @andy5drum Thanks! We are glad you are liking it!

  • just one question more, at 5:10 toms vlt seems have renforcement hoops is it my foult?

  • @habit1979 VLT toms can have hoops. It's just up too what you want.

  • just a suggestion Gil is amazing but too fast!!!! let the single drum sound alone for few seconds in 18 minutes JUST TO LISTEN BETTER THE SOUND OF EACH ONE love from Italy

  • @habit1979 We heard you! :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc i'm really sorry i do my excuses to everyone i always forget that maiusc/shift means screaming, i'm really sorry..... :( it was just to underline the concept i was stupid

  • 9:00 in holy shit!!

  • so good! Gil has it all.. chops, pocket, technique and style!

  • @funkymunkydrummer You said it right!

  • Comment removed

  • Well played and said Gil

    .

  • @TheDRUMSMYWIFE The man is well rounded!

  • Tighter than my asshole

  • There is only one way this could be any better. Instead of Gil Sharone have Thomas Lang. Just saying :P

  • gil is sick... real dude and an amazing drummer

  • @thisishighlight You know it! Thanks!

  • Gil, you're getting way too much into that DEP stuff.

  • cant tell if really good or just randomly hitting things

  • did u hear that bass drum?

  • Can you guys do an episode with Tony Royster Jr.

  • @beatsbydre101 Have you seen any of the other footy we have of Tony. Just search him on our You-Tube page. We got some stuff for you. :0

  • WOW!

  • you need to tune your snare buddy

  • the rack toms in this video look like 8", 10", and 12"... but the description of the loaner kit lists only 10" and 12" rack toms, and also 14", 16", and 18" floors... what gives?

  • @SW1 To clear things up once and for all. This kit is 8, 10, 12, 14, 16. Hope everyone is good now! :)

  • Can I have that loaner kit once his custom kit is ready?! LOL! :)

  • @cjpearson1 We'll see what we can do. :)

  • Is this guy jewish?

  • @Goldfill23 Hmmm...interesting question.

  • could you do a session with Atom Willard, that would be amazing ( if possible ;) )

  • so...is it too long? or not long enough?

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Dear Mr Good can you send me a free floor tom

  • @brandonbeckster Mr. Good? Are you out there? We'll see what he thinks. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc

    Just right. :)

    I like these long videos.

I feel we get to know more about the artist and the drums.

    Keep up the good work.

  • @dww0902 We will do our best. Thanks so much for watching and your kind feedback!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc never long enough listening to a vlt/vlx kit

  • @habit1979 We'll work on making a longer video then. :)

  • Both Gil and the drums sound incredible, as usual.

  • @IAmMattLewis Thanks! We are lucky to have him!

  • this has nothing to do with the drums but what cymbals did he use??

  • @Jramsoebhag not sure the exact models, but he endorses Zildjian. Gil is super nice and approachable, if you jit him up gilondrums(dot)com, he could probably tell you.

  • @Jramsoebhag Check it out here! zildjian(dot)com/Artists/S/Gil-Sharone

  • Oh i already check them out, yes I have checked them out time and again but i don't enough money.

  • He just needs to learn how to play now.

  • @femaledeer ...

  • @femaledeer Define what a ghost note is, or better yet, what a polyrhythm is.

  • 2:05 that's tight

  • @vidadrumgirl Gil make it right and tight. :)

  • Guess OCDP is done.

  • 00:56 groovy
