  • :57 modulate doodatdoozat lol thats great

  • That was great scatin and 1 of the men made a really weird face LOL

  • good scat and vocalise!!!

  • It is said that folks who regularly listen to Jazz have a higher IQ than most. I sure hope that's true because I LOVE this stuff! :)

  • I like it very much, it's fantastic, gives you wings better than "red bull", and for the 44 dislikes.... who cares, as long as I like it... 44 noted but irrelevant opinions... :-)

  • Yeah, take 5 - this sounds like they took 5 cognacs back-to-back before the performance.

  • Haha I loved their faces xD

  • 44 people took four, thumbs up please!!!

  • @billybobs309 just because you asked, i did a thumbs down

  • @runtangadom I posted this to mock those that seriously post this sort of bullshit and desperately beg for thumbs up.

  • the hell...

  • Adoro questa versioneeeeeee...Meravigliosi è dir poco...complimenti...:) Questa è vera musica!!!

  • MUST. LEARN.

  • LOVELY!!!!! :)

  • They're having so fun much it makes me happy for some reason :D

  • I'm not a fan of al jarreau but this was fucking rad

  • Enough said....Stunning

  • Another fantastic vid!

  • I love the "modulate again".

  • REBECCA BLACK FRIDAY NUFF SAID LOLOLOL

  • Jazz will never be Mainstream, yet, Mainstream has no choice but to move in the direction of Jazz. Look at all the young "Jam Bands" trying to escape from the black hole that is Mainstream. What do they play?? Mingus, Monk, Miles etc. And the kids think they're listening to NEW music...Jazz was there all along, just waiting to be discovered, like some ancient civilisation that knew the secrets of life. Thousands of new artists now playing Jazz. Because they're tired of POP politics.

  • Love it.

That's creativity, and it should be the song's intro.

  • Beat boxing a jazz classic hmm perhaps I get more respect for beat boxing.

  • Muito bom!!!

  • im not going to lie, them looking at to each other while singing just looks a little gay.

  • @jeffho777 theyre watching eachother for changes

  • Awesome!!!:)

  • "take 5" is now completed...

  • Nice singing. But they should just sing and not mc'ing. It's stupid, doesn't mean any shit and waste everybody's time.

  • @CroissantOrange Moron. . . . .

  • wicked

  • its called skatting....look it up.

  • @alphacapo IDIOT IT'S CALLED JAZZ AND WAS ORIGINALLY PLAYED AND WRITTEN BY SAX MAN PAUL DESMOND OF THE DAVE BRUBECK TRIO. TAKE A MUSIC APPRECIATION COURSE AND YOU WON'T SOUND SO IGNORANT OUT HERE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE.

  • @DocB3Fuzz

Sory for having an Opinion. How bout i give you another, this is America where you are allowed to voice your opinion, childish of you to call me an idiot.

Blues player Johny Winter does the same thing where he tries to emulate an intrument (a guitar in his case) with his voice.in a call and return style.i cant stand it when he does this, it sounds bad and it looks STUPID, another would be Luther Allison on a few tunes. To take a page from your book I know music. you DOUCHER!

  • @B38180Y

lol.im not the capable grown man acting like a 10 yr old with autism and a mild case of downsyndrome because i smoked some of Humboldt's finest and now think im a musician, like these two Hanyak's in this video..and dont call me a faggot we all know your the one who probably has the sore asshole and swollen lips. i gotta four year old daughter that could do this shit. Good thing for her, that if she did do it she's young enuff to where people would just call her cute and not retard.

  • @alphacapo Strange comments. My thoughts: 1. Your 4 year old could not do this. Place a bet? 2. You realize that a lot of (esp. blues) guitar is about emulating the voice with guitar, yes? 3. A real musician wouldn't criticize other musos "game faces" (guitar solos? hello?). It's a good place to be when you look like that (IMO) 4. You really don't think these guys have talent? Really? 5. Skatting is fun for good vocalists - frees you up from text and allows total improvisation.

  • @alphacapo this guy is the american version of Vince Noir in the Mighty Boosh. hilarious!

  • Tahnk you Al!!!

  • What the fuck is this?

  • Brilliant! I'm not familiar with Kurt Elling. Thanks for posting this. Question: Was the original tune of 'Take 5' written with lyrics, or did these guys make up these lyrics? (Just curious. Been listening to 'Take 5' for years ... never heard lyrics to it before.)

  • @timwarneka Nope.. Originally written by Paul Desmond.. Performed by the Dave Bruck Quartet... Later, lyrics were written by Dave & his wife, Lola... It was performed by Carmen McRae in 1960-something.. :)

  • HELL YAH

  • I love the guy on the right's hand.. Playing some "Air strings"

  • Dam, I wish I could do that with my voice

  • @daymbekderil jazz faces are funny

  • stunning!! clever mix! what good pitching they must have!!

  • stunning!

  • amazing!! i ♥ jazz

  • If jazz was mainstream again the world would be a better place

  • @DUBXXX Hell Yeah

  • @DUBXXX nah, no way! jazz cant be mainstream ffs!! It would had lost all its beauty and point... let ordinary people listen to dumb music such as pop "stars" or whatevs... Much more of this will remains for us :) (sorry for my horrible english)

  • @DUBXXX AMEN !!!!!

  • <3 jazzzz

  • these guys are on some good drugs haha but this is awesome

  • @slamblamify why is it when ppl do great things and accomplish much they must be on drugs?

  • @slamblamify this drug is called music, dude =)

  • @slamblamify I'm pretty sure Al Jarreau is always high on a drug called being Al Jarreau.

  • this is a new language )))

  • Stunning!

  • if a jazz tune was written without lyrics, dont put lyrics in it

  • Comment removed

  • @coolcolbass I agree man, sometimes it isnt necessary! But a) this tune has lyrics! and b) vocalese can be quite legit. youre looking at two of the vocalese kings right now!

  • @okcsinger Best part of the lyrics is when they say: "modulating", lol...

  • @coolcolbass: That is an odd thing to say. Jazz is all about improvising and change.

  • i like his phrasing.

  • Amazing!

  • 34 people are having trouble recognizing true talent.

  • @Bugsy99 ...or were drunk....

  • @greywrath that too. Although if they were drunk, the would probably love it. They'd be like "Dude....they're making music with their mouths!.....woah"

  • @ articrecon, men, they cant join the america's got talent, they dont need the prize, they are legends of Jazz.

  • the old fantastic guy..i have the great pleasure to watch him recently in concert ..***

  • Man, why are these guys not coming and competing in America's Got Talent... FTW!

  • puta que pariu!!!!!

  • This IS good, but imo this one: Al Jarreau 1976 -Take Five , IS MUCH better... :)

  • If you don't believe in God. Watch this. This is proof God exists. Such beings could not exist without God.

  • @DangerD205 not exactly. a beeing not believing in the beauty of menkind, like you, is proof satan exists.

  • @DjKeeper ok, thanks. I was commenting on a video. Not looking for a religious fight. Go fuck yourself.

  • @DjKeeper I just like Germany.

  • @DjKeeper turn the other cheek, and get the fuck off the jazz page Buford. Your tent revival is a startin up down by the crick. gwan now, boy!

  • @markmarktarmann nobody is talking to you, ugly wreckface. go learn any instrument before you use the word "jazz" hipster.

  • F like Fantastic!

  • I wish I spoke their language. Actually, I wish we ALL spoke their language! What a conversation we could have!

  • @MrJohnnysakai As is the case with most jazz performers, these two are from the U.S. Since they're "scatting", there are no words to be understood in the first place, just incomprehensible syllables. Two exceptions are (1) right before the theme (2:57), when they say "send me on my way" and (2) when Al Jarreau says "modulate" before they do so at 1:51.

  • @GoodPerspective Thank you for taking the time to point that out. What I meant, in a rather cryptic fashion I admit, was that these two scat so effortlessly and play off each other so fluidly that they seem as if they are "conversing" with each other. Not only that but they are obviously enjoying themselves so much that I was making the observation that wouldn't it be great if we could all enjoy doing that! Nonetheless, thanks again for your post.

  • Very Goood!!!

  • tenacious D defiantly took inspiration from these guys :)

  • i have sat here for the whole 4 minutes with my mouth wide open........... Kurt Elling i loved already but Jarreau is just!

  • very entertaining indeed. .. awesome!

  • 0.0 not comment...

  • Take Five" is a jazz piece written by Paul Desmond and performed by The Dave Brubeck Quartet on their 1959 album Time Out. Recorded at Columbia's 30th Street Studios in New York City on June 25, July 1, and August 18, 1959,[1] this piece became one of the group's best-known records, famous for its distinctive, catchy saxophone melody and use of the unusual quintuple (5/4) time, from which its name is derived.[2] While "Take Five" was not the first jazz composition to use this meter,

  • man. it bothers me when people quote 'Brubeck' with this song and not 'Paul Desmond'. I know its the DB quartet put lets remember that Paul wrote it. if your going to call out 'Dave Brubeck!' rad! but call out Paul Desmond also! He made that band. He wrote most of their famous songs.

  • he said desmond first.....just fyi : )

  • well desmond should have played it....ghost writer

  • I'm impressed. You really know your jazz!

  • I guess it's similar to actors. We all know Julia Roberts played the lead in "Pretty Woman" but don't have a clue who wrote the role. The 'front man' or 'woman' (I have to be politically correct here :) ) always gets the credit. I feel sorry for the people who actually created the story! Hey, I'm impressed with your knowledge of jazz!

  • Talk about having a conversation musically!

  • Insanely awesome!!!

  • AMAZING

  • this is best cover of take five but original is really better

  • simplement superbe

  • Awesome start but it loses me when the music cuts in.

  • this is fucking entertainment!

  • I love how they vocal this version. Thanks a lot for uploading this. Two thumbs up.

  • I nearly wish i had ten thumbs.

  • make them 4

  • That looks like so much fun!

  • Now I can't get it out of my head! ARGGHHHH!! Someone kill me, please.

  • ok... first the song was wrote by paul desmond... 2nd compliment....it's only a precisation.

  • beyond what any words can describe!!!

    Waaaaaaa!

    Thanks Dave

  • OMGGG! Kurt Elling has the softest male voice I've ever heard! So.. awesome

  • Pretty cool.

Nice that they they noted tribute to Dave in their lyrics... - But, of course, Paul Desmond wrote the song.

  • actually if you listen carefully they do mention both Paul and Dave ;)

  • Excellent! I tistened again; but my ears must be too slow to pick it up... I'll keep trying - Thanks,

  • around 1:03-1:05
