This is the easiest recipe! I'm going to try it soon. Noticed you didn't add salt and pepper, the soy is salty enough, right? Can you add oyster sauce to this? Noticed also you did not add corn starch which I'd seen in other videos. I like this recipe, it's very simple and easy. Thanks.
I enjoy your video's. I have a smooth-top, electric stove. What type of Wok do you recommend? Are the electric Wok's any good? I love the cast iron one you have!
@bgoldrock Glad you are enjoying the videos! As you can see, the cast iron wok is great on the electric stove. I highly recommend it on the glass top stove as well! I use it on my new one. Thanks for watching!

@bbyronic Some people, asians and non-asians do wash their rice. I do not wash my rice for a couple reasons. Starch is not soluble in in water. however, several vitamins and minerals in rice are soluble in water and thus will be washed away in rinse water. So if you want your rice to have fewer vitamins and minerals wash it. It will still have the same amount of starch.
@Athrun000 I guess if you see dirt in your rice you could wash it! Just keep in mind that if you don't need to rinse it you will keep more of the vitamins and minerals in the rice. It's up to you!
@xXKushkinXx Just don't cut yourself in your hurry! It really is better if you cut and organize your ingredients before turning up the heat. It only takes a few minutes of prep time and makes the cooking much more enjoyable! Thanks for watching!
@julia2334 And now the veggies are even smaller! Notice how the cleaver can be used as a scoop and for crushing garlic and ginger. Try that with a skinny knife... ;-) Thanks for watching!
A) use a high temp/low taste oil, ground nut/sun flower/veg.. never olive (if you can help it!, it burns lower temp and got a taste.
b) throw in galic ginger chillies 20-30sec B4 the meat... this helps flavor your oil and cooks the rawness b4 coating the meat in all their good ness!
thanks for posting your videos! i'm just beginning to explore the variations on stir fry and, thanks to people like you, it's easy to learn and get good ideas for new recipes and ingredients. thanks a bunch!
i tasted this a long time ago and i dont remember the taste but i think it was really good well thx for helping in your videos it helps my mom make some x]
I tried this, it tastes really good! If you have a rice cooker, can you use the rice from there also, because when I made the rice in the pot, the rice on the bottom stuck to the bottom of the pot, and it was difficult to take off. Anyways, thanks!
you can use ordinary rice cooked in a rice cooker. the whole recipe is for the dish only and it is good to eat with rice.. to avoid the rice sticking on a pot, turn down the heat when it boils then lower it again when the water is almost gone and also do not use thin pots.
Mr Toy you should try cooking your rice with chicken broth instead of plain water, it gives you a chicken flavoured rice and its best eaten with chinese style steam chicken.
we have a rice cooker too but we dont use it much because electricity is very expensive here than liquefied petroleum (LPG) gas for our oven. and as he said cooking in pot is ok when im just cooking for 2 people.
Washing the rice is unnecessary unless you buy it in bulk (25 lbs or more). Moreover, if you wash enriched rice you're actually washing away nutrients. Thanks for watching!

Hi inlove0395, Yes! Actually you can use almost any kind of cooking oil. Oils that burn easily like sesame and butter are not good for stirfrying. If you wanted to be totally authentic you would use animal fat. (lard) Sounds kind of gross, but it tastes great.
GREAT video, there is not alot of info on stir fry on the web, i love asian food and i see you have alot of video, i subscribed and rated 5 stars! Your also intresting to listen to, which is important. Great work.
I think it's a matter of choice. Some feel it's better to rinse, thinking there's dirt or dust. Others say not to because there's nutrients and vitamins that are added to "enriched" rice. Some say to rinse and and use the water for your plants because...there's nutrients in it! Some say that rinsing changes the flavor and the texture of the rice. I've tried rinsing and not rinsing and I don't see any difference. So, rinse if you want one more step before you start cooking.
this is a real help to a person like me who know almost nothing about cooking! I do not own a wok...would it matter if I tried to do this with a cast iron skillet? Thanks for the videos...you are a really good teacher!
You don't NEED a wok to stirfry, but it does work better if you use one. The reason is that the round bottom of the wok allows you to use less oil and hotter temperatures. A flat bottomed pan requires more oil to keep things from sticking and burning. So, yes, you can stir fry in a cast iron pan, but it won't be quite the same.
Great! If you can get a cast iron one, or a steel one, that's best.(not stainless or non-stick) Stainless and non stick are impossible to season. Seasoned cast iron and steel are the original nearly indestructible "teflon". Good Luck!
Wow, this is great! i love stir fry food, and you made the easiest and simple style of doing it. But one thing about cast iron..what do u mean by saying that stainless and non stick are impossible to season. I use stainless and surgical steel cookware, i.e saladmaster, my question is what makes it different to using a cast iron with stainless? they say that cast iron is not good for health in cooking. Please advise.
Cast iron holds heat MUCH better than stainless steel does since it is a heavier, more dense metal. I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate, but I have heard cooking with cast iron is actually healthy since it adds some much needed iron to your diet. Again, I don't know how true that is since with a properly seasoned piece of cast iron cookware your food never touches the iron since it is sealed by the seasoning. Another nice thing about seasoned cast iron is it is the ultimate nonstick surface.
No, I didn't. Instead I boiled it! Also, if you buy "enriched rice" and wash it, you're actually washing off vitamins and nutrients that are on the surface of the rice.

weeeeeeee i've been looking for his video's for days cause i already saw the one he made the ramen and the eggrolls! ^-^ he forgot to set the time D: i can't eat something with brocolli thanks for the upload!
Sweet peppers are a good choice for adding at the very end of stirfrying. Just put cook them for a minute or two. Don't want them to be soggy. The sweet red, orange, and yellow peppers add a nice color to the dish as well.
Hi! I'm not a professional chef but I do teach cooking at a couple kitchen stores and for local community education programs. My first love is teaching. My second is food, so it works well!
Mushrooms contain MSG naturally, so if you use mushrooms in your stir fry then you have the flavour enahancement of MSG in a natural form that most bodies can deal with better than the chemical version.
What a great and nicely presented video. Thanks! I just picked up a wok and am going to try your recipe tonight. Cheers.

huum i like pepper...yellow pepper cuz it's a little bit sweet!
jahlove111 3 years ago 2
Sweet peppers are a good choice for adding at the very end of stirfrying. Just put cook them for a minute or two. Don't want them to be soggy. The sweet red, orange, and yellow peppers add a nice color to the dish as well.

Sure! You can put in whatever you want. Just be sure you know how long you want to cook it for. What vegetables to you really like?

You forgot the MSG.
pandaimpreza 4 years ago
MSG is not something I use in cooking. I have found that it's not needed when using fresh ingredients. But you can certainly use it if you wish!
Shinerose 4 years ago
Mushrooms contain MSG naturally, so if you use mushrooms in your stir fry then you have the flavour enahancement of MSG in a natural form that most bodies can deal with better than the chemical version.

yummy
i shall try it
hope it works with chicken
i'm not a big fan of shrimp...
:)

It will work with chicken. I suggest using boneless thigh meat. It stays moist and tender. But that's up to you!
