  • What a great and nicely presented video. Thanks! I just picked up a wok and am going to try your recipe tonight. Cheers.

  • This is the easiest recipe! I'm going to try it soon. Noticed you didn't add salt and pepper, the soy is salty enough, right? Can you add oyster sauce to this? Noticed also you did not add corn starch which I'd seen in other videos. I like this recipe, it's very simple and easy. Thanks.

  • best stir fry i ever made. just perfect :D

  • I enjoy your video's. I have a smooth-top, electric stove. What type of Wok do you recommend? Are the electric Wok's any good? I love the cast iron one you have!

  • @bgoldrock Glad you are enjoying the videos! As you can see, the cast iron wok is great on the electric stove. I highly recommend it on the glass top stove as well! I use it on my new one. Thanks for watching!

  • @cmtoy Thank you! I am going to get myself a cast iron wok and try your delicious recipes!

  • @bgoldrock Excellent! Let me know how you like it when you do.!

  • What was that in the rice

  • @treytreyman333 When?

  • @cmtoy I think he is talking about the thing that was in the rice right when you were putting it in the bowl to serve.

  • @treytreyman333 Before we shot the final video we practiced. What you saw was a scallion in the rice from the previous shoot! I'm impresed that you watched the video so closely! I think you're the first one out of over 39800 people who saw that! Thanks for watching...so carefully!

  • I love your recipes!

  • @mmorrellwilson Glad you enjoy the recipes! Thanks for watching!

  • asians, wash their rice first to take out excess starch, then add water, the proportion of rice and water usually are equal..

  • @bbyronic Some people, asians and non-asians do wash their rice. I do not wash my rice for a couple reasons. Starch is not soluble in in water. however, several vitamins and minerals in rice are soluble in water and thus will be washed away in rinse water. So if you want your rice to have fewer vitamins and minerals wash it. It will still have the same amount of starch.

  • @cmtoy washing rice = rinsing away the dirt on it...

  • @Athrun000 I guess if you see dirt in your rice you could wash it! Just keep in mind that if you don't need to rinse it you will keep more of the vitamins and minerals in the rice. It's up to you!

  • Hey, could you do a video on how to make chicken pot stickers? also, what kind of rice do you use? i use jasmine.

  • @Mrstonester I also like jasmine rice although my mom always used plain rice.

  • @Mrstonester Sure! Chicken potstickers are on my list to do! I love Jasmine rice! Thanks for watching.

  • can you make some more stir fry and ramen stuff? there my fav :3

  • @flidd88 Hi! Sure, I'll make som emore videos when I can catch a few minutes of free time with my cameraman! Thanks for the request and for watching!

  • i always try to cut my ingredients when i need them, i gotta work fast or else my food burns

  • @xXKushkinXx Just don't cut yourself in your hurry! It really is better if you cut and organize your ingredients before turning up the heat. It only takes a few minutes of prep time and makes the cooking much more enjoyable! Thanks for watching!

  • anything with rice. is good. Well not like everything but you know what i mean. the perfect side-dish :D!

  • @KidEditor I agree! Rice is GREAT! Thanks for watching!

  • You would make a good elementary school teacher.

  • stir fry is so efficient in so many ways!!!

  • @flomosk8er Yes it is! Good food quickly, but not fast food! thanks for watching!

  • @flomosk8er Yes it is! Thanks for watching!

  • that's a really big knife for such small veggies:)

  • @julia2334 And now the veggies are even smaller! Notice how the cleaver can be used as a scoop and for crushing garlic and ginger. Try that with a skinny knife... ;-) Thanks for watching!

  • Out of nowhere, a pot of rice appears! XD

  • @Ub3rUs3rSup3rb Kitchen magic! Thanks for watching!

  • In Thailand & China the secret ingredient is sugar : )

  • @JCHandJobLover Much better than MSG! Thanks for the tip and for watching!

  • It's the first time I've seen someone stirfry with chopsticks. Now I want to upgrade to a cast iron wok. Great video.

  • @joydubyadee Cast iron is great because it holds the heat for stir frying. Thanks for watching!

  • Ello... coupld of tips,

    A) use a high temp/low taste oil, ground nut/sun flower/veg.. never olive (if you can help it!, it burns lower temp and got a taste.

    b) throw in galic ginger chillies 20-30sec B4 the meat... this helps flavor your oil and cooks the rawness b4 coating the meat in all their good ness!

Thank you for your video! looks lovly! :)

  • @ozinkent Thanks for sharing your tips! And thanks for watching!

  • Do the shrimp need to be room temp?

  • @Eagle971 They don't need to be room temperature. They should not be frozen though.

  • Woot! That second pot of rice came from the future!

  • fry the rice a bit to give the rice more flavour

  • @VancouverStudios You sure have a lot of advice! Perhaps you should post some videos of your own for others to respond to! Thanks for watching.

  • That looks great! I appreciate you sharing your method with us!

  • @livinn59801 It does taste good! Thanks for watching and thanks for the appreciation.

  • I just fry rice with left over rice

  • @bren5209 Left over rice is the best for making fried rice! Thanks for watching!

  • thanks for posting your videos! i'm just beginning to explore the variations on stir fry and, thanks to people like you, it's easy to learn and get good ideas for new recipes and ingredients. thanks a bunch!

  • You're most welcome! Thanks for watching!

  • I like ur vids make me hungry lol

  • So go and eat! ;-) Thanks for watching!

  • I have a question, were the shrimps pre cooked?

  • The shrimp are not precooked. Like most seafood, they cook pretty quickly. You don't want overcooked seafood! Thanks for watching!

  • Hey man nice video shrimp and rice is my favorite!

  • Thanks for the comment and for watching!

  • i tasted this a long time ago and i dont remember the taste but i think it was really good well thx for helping in your videos it helps my mom make some x]

  • I tried this, it tastes really good! If you have a rice cooker, can you use the rice from there also, because when I made the rice in the pot, the rice on the bottom stuck to the bottom of the pot, and it was difficult to take off. Anyways, thanks!

  • you can use ordinary rice cooked in a rice cooker. the whole recipe is for the dish only and it is good to eat with rice.. to avoid the rice sticking on a pot, turn down the heat when it boils then lower it again when the water is almost gone and also do not use thin pots.

  • Sure, you can use your rice cooker. Thanks for trying it and for watching!

  • The video quality is quite bad , no offence , but great food and video!

  • The first knuckle method always works!

  • Hi blackmondae! It is amazing! Thanks for watching.

  • @cmtoy

Mr Toy you should try cooking your rice with chicken broth instead of plain water, it gives you a chicken flavoured rice and its best eaten with chinese style steam chicken.

  • Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try! Hey, maybe you should make a video!

  • Hey I have a question. Why don't you use a rice cooker? They are easier to use and you don't need to keep any eye on it. Are rice cookers bad?

  • Hi! Rice cookers are fine! Mine is pretty large so I only use it when I need to cook for more than 4 people. Good question. Thanks for watching.

  • Wow!! I'm only 13 years old and this is pretty easy to make. I'm amazed that I can cook once I saw your video!!! Thanks man!!!! :D

  • we have a rice cooker too but we dont use it much because electricity is very expensive here than liquefied petroleum (LPG) gas for our oven. and as he said cooking in pot is ok when im just cooking for 2 people.

  • what spices did u put ?

  • Hi! I use fresh garlic and ginger in the recipe. Let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks for watching!

  • It...it's beautiful. T_T

    I did cry a little

  • Holy crap i tried this rice method once, it worked perfect, but i forgot, now this vid taught me again thanks man :D

  • you have a good teaching methods. but i soak rice befor cooking.

  • hey thanks a lot! I'm living on my own for the first time and trying to cook for myself. haha - its a joke. but this really helps.

  • You should try washing the rice.

  • Washing the rice is unnecessary unless you buy it in bulk (25 lbs or more). Moreover, if you wash enriched rice you're actually washing away nutrients. Thanks for watching!

  • you are amazing at cooking. Man look at that chinese food it is 100x better than amercain food

  • Your cooking is very wonderful.

  • awesome im gonna try it tonight....

  • great video, i'm having this for dinner today :)

  • i know it is better than steak and ribs

  • Lol man I'm chinese and I don't even know how to use a chopstick . I know how to use chopsticks but whatever i grab , it comes off.

  • that is a real big knife. i'm sure i would cut myself with that. i have no cooking skills at all but i'm trying to learn how to make sushi for my boyfriend :)

  • lol

  • i hate choping garlic the smell sticks to my hands.:(

    nice vid thanks!

  • Some kitchen stores sell stainless steel bars that are said to remove cooking odors from your hands. Thanks for watching.

  • Wow you're getting pretty big on YouTube.

are you the chef of your family? Hehe.

  • i think so

  • Can I use peanut oil instead?

  • Hi inlove0395, Yes! Actually you can use almost any kind of cooking oil. Oils that burn easily like sesame and butter are not good for stirfrying. If you wanted to be totally authentic you would use animal fat. (lard) Sounds kind of gross, but it tastes great.

  • GREAT video, there is not alot of info on stir fry on the web, i love asian food and i see you have alot of video, i subscribed and rated 5 stars! Your also intresting to listen to, which is important. Great work.

  • Thanks WeSayIt Better. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks for watching!

  • random, this video was posted on the best day of my life. and also, sweet recipe.

  • I just love your dishs! Everything you serve your food in just makes it much more appitizing!

  • Thanks for watching! And thanks for the kind comment.

  • no rice cooker?

  • I use a rice cooker for larger quantities of rice. With this small amount it's easier to use the sauce pan. Thanks for watching, and asking!

  • That was great.

  • Do ;you rinse your rice? Ask because I note you did not wash rice you put in pot.

    thanks!

  • I think it's a matter of choice. Some feel it's better to rinse, thinking there's dirt or dust. Others say not to because there's nutrients and vitamins that are added to "enriched" rice. Some say to rinse and and use the water for your plants because...there's nutrients in it! Some say that rinsing changes the flavor and the texture of the rice. I've tried rinsing and not rinsing and I don't see any difference. So, rinse if you want one more step before you start cooking.

  • hmm i gonna try cooking that

    yummay!

    lol

  • That Looked Very Good. Keep on Cooken

  • oh my that looks so good!

  • no offense, but u kinda sounded funny when u said "mushrooms" lol, great video 5/5

  • this is a real help to a person like me who know almost nothing about cooking! I do not own a wok...would it matter if I tried to do this with a cast iron skillet? Thanks for the videos...you are a really good teacher!

  • Hi boldengirl,

You don't NEED a wok to stirfry, but it does work better if you use one. The reason is that the round bottom of the wok allows you to use less oil and hotter temperatures. A flat bottomed pan requires more oil to keep things from sticking and burning. So, yes, you can stir fry in a cast iron pan, but it won't be quite the same.

  • Thanks! I'll try this as soon as I buy a wok:) You make cooking look easy:)

  • Great! If you can get a cast iron one, or a steel one, that's best.(not stainless or non-stick) Stainless and non stick are impossible to season. Seasoned cast iron and steel are the original nearly indestructible "teflon". Good Luck!

  • Wow, this is great! i love stir fry food, and you made the easiest and simple style of doing it. But one thing about cast iron..what do u mean by saying that stainless and non stick are impossible to season. I use stainless and surgical steel cookware, i.e saladmaster, my question is what makes it different to using a cast iron with stainless? they say that cast iron is not good for health in cooking. Please advise.

  • Cast iron holds heat MUCH better than stainless steel does since it is a heavier, more dense metal. I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate, but I have heard cooking with cast iron is actually healthy since it adds some much needed iron to your diet. Again, I don't know how true that is since with a properly seasoned piece of cast iron cookware your food never touches the iron since it is sealed by the seasoning. Another nice thing about seasoned cast iron is it is the ultimate nonstick surface.

  • If you had your own cooking show it would be wonderful, like these videos just better production :P

  • your cooking must be really outstanding!

  • nice video old man

  • Hey, How did you know it's my birthday today? I AM an old man!

  • it was? happy birthday lol

    like ur video, really good

  • you remind me of my dad, he loves to cook to :D

you have a beautiful home to btw. and i love your videos ima make that eggdrop ramen right now

  • you didnt even clean the rice..

  • No, I didn't. Instead I boiled it! Also, if you buy "enriched rice" and wash it, you're actually washing off vitamins and nutrients that are on the surface of the rice.

  • ah i see. i always get jasmine rice from the asian store.. ive always watched my mom wash it first and then cook it

  • woot i got that knife ^^ it look awsome!!

  • Wow thanks for all ur videos. now i can cook very easy recipes that are very cheap. but my family doesnt cook rice like that but we'll try it :)

  • I like the way you respond to negativity, such a wise response, no nastiness, just pointing out the error of such negativity, that's real class. And you DO appear a lot more youthful than your age. All the best.

  • For Your Information, cmtoy you are helping a poor college student get by, by learning how to cook his own ( incredibly easy ) meals. I especially enjoy the egg drop ramen.

    Greatly appreciated.

  • Thanks for the kind words. Inexpensive food can taste great!

  • Do you have a job as a chef? or do you just know how to cook very well? o.o

  • You are an amazing cook if you don't mind me asking do you own a resteraunt because you seem very proffesional or is cooking just you're passion?

  • grat tips you rule!

  • cool

  • where's your wife? what's your job? lol! nice house!

  • Chris if i may ask. how old are you hehehe :D nad how many children do you have?

  • Three children, one dog. Ages - 15, 19, 22,and 10. I'm 54 this year.

  • To be honest, I thought you were like 30 or something xD

  • Your negativity reflects poorly on yourself and your parentage. Perhaps it would honor you and your lineage if you shared your knowledge rather than detract from the enjoyment of others.

  • i don't get what your saying but i know that i am on your menion! ^^

  • If that is how you prefer to prepare a dish, that is how it should be done...by you. After all, every recipe was made up by someone in the past. Judge a recipe with your palate...not by a set of preconceived rules.

  • well...... it's his way of cooking not yours!

  • My dad makes a good stir fry, It's pretty much the only thing I'll eat with brocolli in it.

  • iv been watchin the ramen one for a month

  • that made me lol'd for a good 5 minutes xD .

  • weeeeeeee i've been looking for his video's for days cause i already saw the one he made the ramen and the eggrolls! ^-^ he forgot to set the time D: i can't eat something with brocolli thanks for the upload!

  • your such a good cheff and i have learned alot from you^.^

  • nice knife style

  • dude your the best

  • thanks for the tip =)!

  • huum i like pepper...yellow pepper cuz it's a little bit sweet!

  • Sweet peppers are a good choice for adding at the very end of stirfrying. Just put cook them for a minute or two. Don't want them to be soggy. The sweet red, orange, and yellow peppers add a nice color to the dish as well.

  • yumiii <3!

heeu i don't like broccoli =/ can i put something else???

  • Sure! You can put in whatever you want. Just be sure you know how long you want to cook it for. What vegetables to you really like?

  • are you a chef???

    <3

    huum <3 good video

  • Hi! I'm not a professional chef but I do teach cooking at a couple kitchen stores and for local community education programs. My first love is teaching. My second is food, so it works well!

  • i love ur veideos =) make more lol

  • I had to subscribe. I enjoy asian cooking and do some stir frys and such, so this is great! Thanks for the great instruction.

  • get a rice cooker! they help a lot... you don't need to use the oven o.O

  • You sir, are a genius =3

    I love your vids!

  • You forgot the MSG.

  • MSG is not something I use in cooking. I have found that it's not needed when using fresh ingredients. But you can certainly use it if you wish!

  • Mushrooms contain MSG naturally, so if you use mushrooms in your stir fry then you have the flavour enahancement of MSG in a natural form that most bodies can deal with better than the chemical version.

  • yummy

    i shall try it

    hope it works with chicken

i'm not a big fan of shrimp...

    :)

  • It will work with chicken. I suggest using boneless thigh meat. It stays moist and tender. But that's up to you!

  • I never thanked you for your reply...

    Thanks this was sooo good!

    ;)

  • You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • that was amazing i tried that recipe and i LOVED it

  • omg.. i can smell it now.

  • AWSOME! make more vids plz

  • Please make another video! They are sooo great!! You should seriously get your own cooking show. And i'm not just saying that to be nice!

  • OK, I'm a 9th grader that is constantly home alone. And so, I get hungry a lot and I enjoy ur recipes that are easy to follow and taste great!

  • Thanks for the nice comment. The hard work is done by my son the cameraman! Enjoy!
