The Greater Manchester Atlanteans had their gear selector mounted on a column to the drivers right hand side. The box could work fully automatically or be overdriven in 2nd or 3rd gears. By far the best box in my opinion
I hated the Atlanteans with this type of gearchange. All our one`s on London Country had the CAV type, on the steering column, except 2, which had this type, as fitted to the Leopard coaches. My left leg was always jammed up against the podium, and I often though that, in an accident, it would have taken my kneecap off. Yet on the Leopard, it was fine.
