The fact these guys are using an L85 with the Yellow thingy (sorry name eludes me) indicates very clearly these boys are british army that just so happen to be playing the role of OPFOR. Ok so maybe a little more tact was needed but still. People who are calling this offensive towards the british army should wake up - If that were true they would be offending themselves and im willing to bet they've done a tour in afghan themselves!! @UncappingBadger Its not an L85 you've played to many video games, it is an SA80A2, the yellow thing on the muzzle is a BFA, a blank firing adapter (look up why its used) Yes they are British Army and they are not playing OPFOR (again to many video games) they are playing the role of the Taliban in Afganistan, this is a training exercise that all troops have to do so they know the SOP's.

These are real rifles (SA-80 / L85) firing blank ammunition. The yellow tip is a blank adapter to stop any material from exiting the barrel, it also stops the gas from exiting straight out of the barrel (Which can be just as deadly as a bullet at point blank). You can even see some of the muzzle flash at certain points in the video. The quality of the video just makes it sound differently.

It was during that conflict that he was training, anyway) was the most fun, because you could just do stupid shit and dick about, forget about fire discipline etc. I think it would only have improved the experience to have a film like Team America in the back of one's head :)
