  • I just got one , brand new in the tattered faded box. Assembled it and now it's ready to fire! Having a hard time finding a little powder but soon enough. What's a good selling price for one new and ready to go? And btw, the trigger is very simple so with almost no effort you could get those rubber bands off.

  • @DoubleTapper556 well they pull the trigger forward as the spring broke long ago. also one of the hammer springs broke right after i got it. took one out of a CVA rifle and with a bit or tweaking made it work. never broke again. had trouble with mis-firing for awhile fixed that too. maybe one day i wil see if i can make a spring for it for the trigger.

  • I have this same gun! It was my fathers. I just got it yesterday. He passed away years ago, and I found this stashed away in some old stuff.

  • @redsamuraidragon thats great. its an oldie but a goodie :)

  • Hey, think I asked you a long time ago if the brass ever corroded, and I forget your exact reply, except that some types of brass like what your gun is, usually higher quality alloys, don't turn green like the (all copper) Statue of Liberty. Has the gun gotten any sort of really light red "freckles," almost like very minor rust on steel? Think I ran into some similar, really good quality brass on a khukuri handle. Seems stronger than mild steel, and won't corrode, just a few tiny red spots.

  • @arrkhal :Looking at my gun, i see no red freckles. but i do see some small splotches of green, (dark) but only in a few tiny areas. This kind of brass doesn't seen to corrode like others can. thats all I know, the gun is still dirty for two years now and nothing except what i explained.

I don't recall your past post sorry.

  • if you use a patch it would work better than wadding

  • @mauserman67 true. but i did the simple way just for the video. thanks for your comment.

  • ty for the safety bit shooting at the can to show that a blank can still hurt.

idiot friend of mine cut top off a shotgun round and dumped the bird shot out and shot it at his friend's face...the plastic wad took his friend's lips and nose off.

  • @Warrwench YW, i hope that everyone, will read your post. Blanks are nothing to mess with. There was an Actor killed a few years ago, i forget his name. He put a gun with blanks to his head and fired. took himself right out of the gene pool. :( oh well live and learn or not. :)

  • in germany we need a license to own doublebarreld percussion weapons (but single barreld are license free) but couldn't legaly fire it like this.. .:( it's all because our goverment is full off gays and idiots

  • @Orkunis I'd bet its not gays that are the problem but the gun hating bunch. you know they type. MY aunt got killed by a gun, so lets ban all guns. NEWS FLASH, Cars kill 5-10 times more ppl than people owning guns. Lets ban cars.

Its not Guns that are the problem, just like cars its the bad owners and bad drivers that kill.

  • @Tapps47 Yeah, I know the type, sadly, too many people I know think guns are the problem.

My dad won't let me won one, but soon I'll be outta here with a job and an apartment, and I'll be free at last!

  • hey i want to know the price of this, i have the exact same gun i found in my grandfathers gun collection

  • @tim9128 I apid 35 dollars for mine it was a kit that i pout together.

  • @tim9128 i would consider purchasing yours if your interested

  • @old16tattoo NO, not for sale.

  • I'm surprised the barrels aren't all green and corroded inside, but I guess some brass alloys are more resistant. I shot some black powder in a .38 special once, cleaned the gun, forgot to clean the shells, and they were all green and crumbly after a week.

  • Good brass isn't effected by black powder residue. Hence brass cannon and the use thereof.

Brass was also stronger than iron but way heavier as I recall.

  • at 1:31 thats another safety precaution u need an amount of powder if too much it might just explode

  • its not a derringer its a snake eyes pistol but it might be made by the company

  • its a derringer. thats what snake eyes is. They have made them historically with the ability to shoot 4 shots.

The number of shots isn't indicative of the classification as derringer.

  • its a deringer snake eyes i got a baby philadela the gun that shot Lincoln think he nows what he talking about

  • thats really a thing about blanks not firing thats why we take precautions at civil war reenactments especially if your in artillery

  • I can imagine. Seen a guy get blown from the front of a 6 pounder when it discharged after it was rammed. he didn't die, but i bet the kid doesn't stand in front of a cannon anytime soon. :)

  • i think with a cannon it would tear him up a little but yeah that kid might not stand in front of one soon i got freaked out once cause my first year of reenacting and i had a blank in my gunners haversack and i didnt know what to do so i had to lay down on it so the powder wont explode

  • 9:25

    Woooooah...

That technically fits the definition of a machine gun doesn't it? ATF NFA MG ban.

    =P

  • Actually no. The ATF rules protect antique weapons using black powder and black powder manufacture. So it doesn't apply to this firearm.

  • So couldn't someone simply design a black powder machine gun after an antique design?

  • if it were truly an antique design. Like a Gatling gun. Maybe...

  • @stealthbeast how would that be its not possible

  • @camerl2009 Tapps proved me wrong, but the idea that I had was that because it fires both barrels at the same time, which is more than 1 shot at the single pull of a trigger, it's technically fits ATFs definition of a machine gun. But again, Tapps47 pointed to the contrary.

  • Is that sheets of copper your shooting at? Those two sheets are worth quite a bit, infact worth too much to be shooting holes in!! Copper prices have shot up over the last couple of years!

  • LOL , the copper sheets as call them are copper plated un-etched circuit boards. very thin plating. Worth? $0.00 It would cost allot to melt them down.

They make great targets though. :)

  • oh right! I've used copper PCB laminate offcuts as targets aswell ,I worked for a PCB making company in the UK,I also used to get the brown, almost like bakelite backing boards that went either side of a stack of cut boards when they were mounted to be drillrd on the CNC drill machines,I shot mainly airguns then and they wouldn't make it through the PCB laminate, but they did punch good holes in the backing boards! Excellent series of vids by the way, contact Dixie guns for a new trigger spring

  • cool, but Dixie and CVA are as different in manufactures as night and day. however i can't say however that the a trigger spring wouldn't work from a Dixie. i was thinking of making my own. just another one of those projects i have in my head. glad you enjoyed the videos.

  • Dixie guns make this gun and kit to make one too,I dont know who made your model.

  • Doesn't the title of the video say who made it?

  • Good video

  • Cool, I had one of these about twenty years ago I bought from Dixie Gun Works in Tennessee. Always loads of fun to shoot Black Powder.

  • I don't know why you would use two pieces of paper to load a round ball. The wad doesn't just make the bullet tight in the barrel, it seals the powder behind the bullet so that you don't have blow by of powder coming out round the bullet and causing you to have even worse accuracy. Not only are you at a disadvantage using a smooth bore, but you don't seal the bullet properly in the barrel. My black powder revolver with a 3 inch smooth bore has a 1" group at twice the distance you were shooting.

  • Ok, if you hav e watched the video this it just how I loaded it for the video. I mentioned in the video that you can use a patch.

Video test I have seen do stop all the BP gases from blowing by the Ball during ignition. Smooth bores are in general are not very accurate, hence why rifling surpassed smooth bore.

You must have a pepper box BP pistol as I recall they never made a smooth bore revolver. Pepper box is not considered a revolver.

Oh and i am glad your BP gun shoots better than mine.

  • Hey where can I find a powder measure like the one you have ?

  • The "measure" really isn't a measure at all. its a flask spout. In the video i used it because i knew the gun had not been fired previously. I don't recommend doing what you see me do especially with real black powder for safty reasons.

If you want good measures use empty modern pistol or rifle shells. measure the powder on a scale and cut them to fill to that level or get a scoup set from Lee.

  • Very good videos, nice and clear all in focus with excellent narration with no bloody music like so many others.

    Very instructive vids there fella...10/10

  • thanks, I am glad you enjoyed the video.

  • very good stuff

  • You are welcome.

  • I've never fired a pistol like that & it looks really cool.

Very interesting to watch U shoot it

  • I enjoy it alot. I usually only fire mine once in awhile. My favorite time is on the 4th of july which was the last time i did fire it. might have to make another video about what i do with it on the 4th. :)

  • Interesting watch. Thxs for posting.

p.s. opening titles "BALCK powder" ;)

  • LOL we can't all be perfect. :)

  • Yeah i messed it up and its to late to fix it. I added a annotation as a fix. :) thanks for reminding me.

  • Interesting pistol. I would love to have a BP single shot or revolver of my own.

    Also, I ROFL'd hard at 6:29!

  • thanks, very informative, 5 stars

  • Thank you

  • what kind of kick does it have? would that kind be good for a first black powder gun? thanks.

  • Its hard to say if it would be a good first timer BP gun or not. As i stated, they are rare so finding one is one thing and finding one in shoting condition is yet another thing.

I think i would ge t BP revolver. colt or Remington type.

  • Actually they aren't rare at all. These can be purchased from Dixie Gun Woks in Tennessee for about $125.00 Like I said in an earlier comment, I bought one of these about twenty years ago or so and I paid $37.00 for it.

  • I was refering to the CVA version. I don't know if dixie gun works make a good copy or not. something i need to look into.

  • Thats great. Remeber they are rare. was never a big seller from CVA.

  • Got one, it took a couple of weeks to actually see one listed though. I like how the right side will fire first but can fire both at the same time by squeezing the trigger faster for some double barrel action!

  • you can get one at dixei gun works

  • I've always wondered how this snake-eyes shot.

Go'in to gunbroker to buy me one!

  • As far as I know they are not made anymore. good luck though. I hope you find one.

  • cool vid

  • that was interesting :)

  • Please rate this video. Thank You.
