hey what does kawachi mean? they had a new song called kawachi ondo at the obon here in LA this past summer n it looked similar to the dance people were doing in this video

Kawachi is a name of a place where is in Osaka prefecture in Japan.

Ondo and Bushi(Hushi)in Japanese mean Rhythm of music.

So these songs are province(local) music.

But now they are very famous in Japan and called as "Soul Music of Japan".

I am very surprised to hear that you saw similar dancing people in LA.
