  • I fail to see how she has time for guitar runs?? Isnt there cooking or cleaning to be done??

  • @davelee17 I gave up on that years ago! Playing music is so much more fun! ;-)

  • I see you play the A string open while in D ch., is this a little extra bass instead of just using just D String for the bass?

PS... How long does it take to get consistent co-ordination between the pickin hand and the chording hand when you do your riffs. The last few days my coordination is terrible, but I will not give up. Would you have an ideas that could help in this area? When I am just totally relaxed just playing without giving any focus to it I do better. Focusing is BAD

  • @JesseJames58 I'm using what is called an alternating bass note. For a D chord, I switch between the open D and A strings for my bass note. It just takes time to develop the "feel" for what string you are picking.

  • I have a question, if I may.

When you are in a run, for eg. going from G to D, are you basically still in the key of G until you hit the D bass and strum the D chord? I am trying to figure this out so I have a better idea about when to change chords through a run.

I hope I am clear in bringing this forward, but if you need further clarification please let me know.

  • @JesseJames58 I think I understand what you are asking. The KEY of the song is not the same as the CHORDS within the song. I think you are asking what CHORD are you in when you are in the middle of making the run. If you are playing a G chord and are making the run into a D chord, you are still in G until you hit the last note of the run (which is, in fact, the first bass note of the new chord, or D in this case). If that's not what you're asking, ask again!

  • @blueiis2 You answered my question very well. I actually meant chord instead of that "key" word in there.lol

Thank you for such a quick response.

I listen to you, and for some reason when I try it, it just does''t sound the same. lol But it will. It all comes with practice.

  • I want to say thank you for your efforts. You do one excellent job in teaching this. I only wished I would of found you sooner on here. I could take lessons from you all the time. I have been very confused in some of the runs you showed on here and now they are clarified in such a great way.

Keep up your fantastic method in teaching this.

  • @JesseJames58 I'm glad that the videos are helpful! Thank you.

  • Good lesson. Thank you.

  • why would you play the first bass note with the middle finger not the index?

  • You can do it either way.
