It's odd, but the murmer seems to add to the song in a parodoxical way. Of course, I would rather a respectful audience, but you can't expect much from people who are disinterested in what's being presented. I do, however, believe that it is usually a social convention to be respectful and appreciateive of the artists presenting their work for a cause such as this, and the constant movement and talking is very annoying to me. I wonder why there was not a certain addressing of that issue.
wow, nicely put kaoritsukino, suprised nobody else replied after 3 months.
but yeah, i don't guess you can expect everyone to appreciate whats going on, looks like their just there for moral support of whoever they know that is playing
Thanks. I've been listening to it more and more, and I find myself really liking the murmur more and more (aside from the irritating girly-screams/screeches that are sharp and attention-getting).
It seems that the murmur works almost as pink noise and doesn't really take attention away from the actual performance (until you get words that are audible or noises that are sudden and louder than the rest... Like screeching. >_>)
I find that strange as well. If you ever go to the Hollywood Bowl and your walking in half way through a song your not allowed to walk to your seat until the song or piece is over. I feel this is the way it should be not just for the musician but for the audience as well.
... Wow... I have nothing to say, but.. wow. That is just a beautiful arrangement. *is awed * Words have no way to express how awed I am by the delicacy and peace in this song.
If only the people that want to see the specific artist on stage at that time could go up close and watch... it'd make more sense.
But instead, people who can afford expensive tickets get arena seats (probably older people, there to see Neil Young & Brian Wilson and don't care for Trent Reznor)
and the young & poor get lawn tickets and have to admire their favorite musicians from afar, meanwhile the arena seats are empty or people are walking, talking, being disruptive during Trent's set.
Trent would never walk out on people talking in this venue because a) it is a concert for charity and b) think of what a let down it would be to be one of the kids playing with him only to see him leave. He knows he has to be a role model here and isn't onstage as Trent Reznor of NIN. Crowds restlessness is a non-issue.
what is wrong with you guys. should the audience be giving golf claps at the end too? this is supposed to be rock and roll. Tame audiences are for debussy. he is used to fans throwing used tampons on stage i'm sure a little chatter isnt going to make him crap his pants.
i agree with kao, he needs to ditch the current line up and go back to the classic NIN line up of robin, danny, etc etc they had a better feel and imo trent wrote better music while playing with them
The "better music" you're talking about was written when he was in dark stages of his life. It didn't matter who he was with that time, but what was going on with his life. So you'd rather him go back to the dark part of his life?
i think its good, a break for trent hes always performing such serious shows with devoted fans, maybe if he played at a show where nobody gave a shit that he was on stage and what he was palying maybe he wud appreciate us more hehehehe
why was everyone moving around and talking like that? you can kind of feel Trent's frustration considering how he's reacted to many occurences like that happening before
wow if i was trent i think i would of walked off with the ENTIRE audience talking thats just a little direspectful. I mean yea its a fundraiser but still how can direspect someone like trent reznor like that plus anyone who was actually trying to enjoy the show.
a beautiful piece of music, adrift and at peace particularly is a fantastic, beautiful and atmospheric song which sounds amazing with trents ochestrial friends. I only wish i was there at the gig, the atmosphere must have been just amazing. thank you for uploading.
WOW, La mer and Adrift and at Peace... I love when NIN (Trent REznor) play with his piano and cellos.. it is something beatiful, I hope one day Trent plays "LEaving Hope".. I love that song =)
P.D. Yes Trent needs to shave ( he looks like an ex- convicted, hahahah lol.. just a joke :P) nahhh , does'nt matter his beard, he is an excellent musician
ahh... la mer and adrift and at peace. perfexion. and mr reznor does not need to shave. I think he looks fucking SEXY. Amazing performance. Wish I could have been there. NIN always needed to do some kind of unplugged thing.

It is seriously rude, them getting up and chatting constantly. It's not like a rock show, in this kind of setting you expect a bit of politeness.

yes i know. i have the physical release. What i'm saying is that he should release string quartet versions...

I fully agree, it would be wonderful to hear this performed in cello, viola, and the rest of the strings family on a crisp, clear album.

Still*, it was amazing.

beautiful! just goes to confirm my idea that trent reznor should be making more quiet music instead of the typical NIN dark gloomy loud sounds.
