@seajist You've got to be joking if you think that he wasn't influenced by Reeps in doing that song. You can hear the influence in the growl bass and wobbles also, not just the cover, which makes me feel there is a lot of reeps influence in there. "A lot" is obviously subjective, I'm not saying he's ripping off Reeps by any means.

@davidragon1 I disagree on the Reeps influence. Many beatboxers use the growl bass, wobs and other sounds that Reeps uses. Many have used it before him as well, but not many were known until Reeps became popular, and that style grew. A small example is that this vid seems to be posted around the time when Reeps started getting popular. But if you look up Defa, you'll find vids dating back a year earlier, and he still used some of the same sounds, though not quite as polished as they are now

@SerialNightmare I agree that many people did use sounds that Reeps uses before he did, the majority of his sounds are modified versions of the pre-existing. However, having listened to Defa previously (we all know he's been good for a while now) his beats were far more technically orientated and focused more on percussion. You could hear more of a roxorloops influence in his earlier beatbox. However, the wobbles and dubstep rhythms and particularly the cover here, point to a Reeps influence.

@davidragon1 I still have to disagree. Like someone else said, this is a popular song, and not only that, his cover is different from Reeps' version, and more closely resembles the song. Also, the most that I see of Defa, he has had his own style involving that moan-lip oscillation sound that he uses quite flawlessly nowadays. Whether or not he was influenced by Roxorloops in the beginning I couldn't say, maybe you're right on that but I would say he's similar to Reeps rather than influenced by

@SerialNightmare Defa has got his own style, I agree with you completely. The song may be popular, but not all popular songs are popularised beatbox covers. "Where's my money" is cover that, as far as I know, was popularised by Reeps. By influence I didn't mean that Defa was ripping Reeps' material as maybe others might mean, only that I felt certain aspects of this pointed to a Reeps influence. It could be that they are just similar, but Reeps influence suggests otherwise. Defa's still awesome.
