  • keep it up dude! You have got some serious talent

  • Fred I love your performance! Beautiful adaption. You got a great playing style and feel!

  • @TimoKreischer Thx mate. Thanks to you, I spend yesterday night playing Hunter's moon (among others) :D

Pretty cool. Didn't have time to shoot a video, though. Thanks for checking out my channel.

  • Dont u think ur piano would get some marks from the taps?

  • @traveler2oo8 I'm only scared one day it slaps me back! XD

  • Awesome!!

  • You are AMAZING! :) Can you pleassseeeee upload a MIDI file of this so I can learn it!? :) Please please please please reply!

  • @IbanezHunter Hey, thanks. I ain't got a MIDI file for that tune, but I'm sure you can figure out most of it by just watching and listening carefully. Otherwise, you may be able to get sheet music from Andy's website. Usually, the tabs he sells come with sheets. ;)

  • I hope its not too much to ask, but would it be possible for you to create a video tutorial? or maybe just write down the chords and notes for each hand. If so then it would be greatly appreciated and Im sure it would get a lot of views.

  • @Ethanwazere Hey, why not? I haven't played the tune in 2 years I think, so I'll have to practice again to sort a few things out, but I'll keep your request in mind. You can check out the Rylynn tutorial, and I plan on doing one for Dreamcatcher. No promises though. ;)

  • beautiful :)

  • Very good!!!!!! Thank you for that.

  • @tobiasvolkamer Hi Tobias. I guess we both like experimenting with music :) Your comment means a lot! Thanks for checking out my channel.

  • I wanna learn piano now. Now ill search for a *any instrument* video.

  • So, does this mean that the Piano and Guitar can be used as a percussion instrument?

  • @IsV48 Piano is a percussion instrument.

  • @TheRationalRant Is that so? :D

  • @IsV48 yeah because the strings are 'struck' with hammers.

  • @TheRationalRant ah! ah! You've got a point. It's simply a shame mine is a digital one :( If my old piano at my parents' wasn't completely out of tune, I'd have given it a try and made another version, maybe...

  • @freddh2 I can imagine it must take a very very long time to tune a piano.

  • @TheSuperdude247 I completely disagree. you can't cover McKee's cover properly without it

  • @TheSuperdude247 Maybe without the tapping but some other kind of beat? i think it needs that little beat to it, but i think its just the sound that makes it off... maybe it it sounded a bit softer and not as sharp?

  • @TheSuperdude247 I believe so as well, but without it, it feels like there's something missing, and I haven't figured a way to replace the tapping yet. But I'll sure work on it one day cos' I'm definitely not satisfied with this version.

  • @freddh2 maybe a foot snare or something? It sounds great though.

  • This just doesn't feel the same. But it's a great cover

  • Wow..incredible cover of one of my favorites...I gave ya a thumbs up but I wish I could give ya ten more!!!

  • you did a really incredible job of covering Drifting on piano... it is very interesting... andy's original is amazing but I think this version gives it a much more emotional feel.. really spot on awesome job man!

  • Oh my goodness. So much grace :D

  • Amazing cover man! Excellent job!

  • pianol version goodjob :-)

  • wow!! great job, i couldn't really imagine it on a piano, but a good piece is a good piece, and it sounds great on any instrument, great way to incorporate the percussion as well :)

  • Sounds great man, this is for sure going to be my next song to learn. Just love the way the chorus rings off.

  • absolutely brilliant

  • when you listen to this, you wonder how it was every played on guitar, let alone WRITTEN on one!

  • Probablement parce que tu n'es pas assez bon en guitare ? Si tu ne sais pas quoi faire des trois qui sont à côté de ton piano, je suis là :)))

  • JIZZ MY PANTS

  • i will try to do this too.

it may take long but it is worth every minute of work.

  • That was SO sick! haha! Awesome!

  • this is so funny , totally awesome

  • @banham123 I look dead serious on the vid, but it was really fun to do!!!

  • who the heck would put thumbs down on this? This was brilliant, great work! Check my turbo mode version DRIFTING TURBO under JPMOHAVE videos. I tried attaching mine, does Andy need to approve the attachment?

  • @jpmohave Thanks a lot Johnny. And yes, RobPoland needs to approve all linked videos...

  • Best Piano Cover for Drifting ;D

  • awesome.

  • you and andy could turn this into a great duet

  • Your modesty is humbling.

Your interpretation of Andy's music is breath taking. And your talent is actually amazing. It's really nice to see a guy who is playing for nothing besides the love of and appreciation of true music, not for money or fame or any other shenanigans. like so many "musicians" nowadays, and this is coming from a 16 year old girl. So, keep doing what you're doing. It's incredible.

  • if you, andy and vish got together I feel the universe would tear in two

  • @darkstar4137 Ha ! Ha ! Lmao. You know, Andy's a genius, Vish's a master but I'm just some guy ;)

Thanks for making me their equal. For a minute there, I thought I was Superman !!! :)

  • not bad but thats the difference between strums and presses

  • @ikeman1156 Definitely! Plus, I'm losing all the genius of using the wood as a drum by hitting plastic :(

  • Sensacionaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal!!!!!!!

    Incrível!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    tu é muuuuuuuuuuuuito bom!

  • @TheWaldeir obrigado !! ;)

  • WOW! this is by far the best cover on piano of this song! Fantastic.. I could listen to this over and over again.

  • Its really good for piano!

  • The notes you're playing aren't the notes you're playing... if you get what I mean =S

    You transposed the keyboard?

  • @AJpianoUK Well, believe it or not, I never realized that! I guess I must have been playing along some other tune before I recorded that and forgot about it. Sometimes, when the tuning of a guitar is weird, things can get hard to play along on the piano so I transpose my keyboard to make it easier. I often do that with Don Ross's songs. That's amazing! Thanks for telling me :)) ah! ah!

  • @freddh2 you can always download the guitar pro tab of the song asthat comes with the notation as well

  • I'm sorry to say, but you killed it :(

  • it was really good to hear the song on the piano. I'm a big fan of Andy and became one of your's. You have a lot of talent! I think you captured the song in a different way the piano can! Glad I ran into this video!

  • Hermoso!!!!!

  • awesome but stop the tapping. It sounds bad and is just a distraction.

  • very cool

  • Some One Tutorial?

  • acoustic is the hardest guitar to learn....electric is fun but holds on to speed and shreds for mastery.........Btw, andy's style doesn't need drums specially on this song...he makes his guitar sing

  • dont do the drumming with the keyboard. it'll spound better. the keyboard sounds classier, but the guitar sounds more b a. i'll agree though that it seems the song is more catered to the keyboard

  • very cool, very cool indeed. nice playing.

  • GREAT ! Muito criativo

  • Dude, that is really beautiful.

Nice rendition of a difficult guitar piece.

    Well done!

I wil try to work on thaT.

  • That' great !!

  • You should be out playing concerts and stuff! I love all your covers, and it's sounds beautiful. Keep it up!

  • nice job man!

    admirable cover

  • that's great man. awesome adaptation of the original!

  • eyyy man you should play with 2 drums on the piano!! ey it will be sounding perfect !! you are rock man!!

  • good good perfect

  • I loved that. (No homo. Lol)

But everything was just perfect. Sound was great, ect. I may seriously have to take up a new instrument. Seems like no one plays the drums anymore. Lol.

  • I wish I could play the drums, ah! ah!

    Thanks for the support, mate.

  • Eh, the drums get boring after a while.

I still love to play, don't get me wrong. But it seems like more attention goes to the person playing the piano and guitar, rather than the drummer. I feel so....Left out. Lol.

    Any time. You play great.

  • I know what you mean. If you're the piano player, you gotta be the singer too, or else all the girls go for the bloke with the guitar, ah! ah!

What they don't know is the guitar-guy's a perfect asshole! :D

Yet, you can't do anything without a good drummer, can you? Shredding is just for showing off, don't you think?

Anyway, I like playing a bit of everything and I still wish I could learn the drums!!!

Not sure my neighbours would share my enthusiasm, though. ;)

  • @freddh2 have you ever noticed how usually the guitarists that the girls go for know jack all about guitar? Its something I've always noticed....

  • @GarretsShadow True ! Most guys just pretend they can play just to show off, but very few actually play for the sake of music... Dudes like Andy are an endangered species =D

  • Wow it actually sounds like it was made for a keyboard. Tight work sir.

  • I still like the guitar version better :D

But then again, it's Andy playing, so...

    Thanks anyway!

  • Great job!

  • Thanks!

  • ...I love lamp.

  • ah! ah!

  • @Schmorgasblab do you really love lamp?

  • AHAHAAA

  • Come on, it's not such an ugly lamp!

    XD

  • Во как )) Respect!!

  • Perhaps not enough good at guitar ... but nice too hear when a pianist feel the song ... :)

  • that's awesome !!

  • Absolutely amazing!!! never heard this song on piano before... i thought it was impossible lol and u made it possible ! ! ! :D if you ever make a sheet of music for it could u send it to me :D? Thanks and keep playing bro ! xD

  • Very nice! Is there any sheet music for this?

  • what piano is that?

  • Yamah P-120. Doesn't exist anymore. Must be the 140 now, I think. The sound of the speakers is crap (as always on portable pianos), but the actual sample is astounding. With headphones on, you feel like in a studio with a Steinway grand or something like that :)

The touch is as close as you can get to the real thing with a digital piano (and I've tried lots of them before choosing mine)

Wouldn't change it for anything !!!

  • @freddh2 I love Yamaha! Both Keyboards and pianos.:)

  • i like it man. i like the your interest in andy mckee too, its really cool to hear the songs on piano

  • it sounds great but it loses its original character that only a guitar can give with slides and droning strings and repeats on chords

  • You're definitely right. The tune was never intended for anything other than a guitar. Each instrument has its specificities and fingerstyle pushes the guitar to the extreme. Impossible to reproduce on a piano, of course...

I just thought it would be fun to do, but I don't particularly find it nice to listen to, though! :D

  • very cool

  • i want to learn piano next

  • i know playing it on the guitar is easy for me...but playing or trying that on the piano just seems too hard for me :(

  • Well it isn't really. The challenge is basically the same, that is coordination. But past that, the rest is pretty straightforward on the piano. I play it on the guitar only in my dreams, though! :D

  • no like i get a lil puzzle beteeen the sharps and flat notes with chords :( and hitting the right note on timing...thats hard for me too :(

  • flat and sharp will come with time, as your ear develops and you anticipate further waht you're playing.

For timing, the only secret is to use a metronome for years. It's boring and mechanical, but that's a necessary discipline. Your fingers will be grateful :)

Keep working. It's worth the reward a hundred times!

  • alright thanks :)

  • The coordination is the hardest part! You have it though and pull it off really well! I was rubbish at it but i just kept practicing slowly and then sped up! If you keep trying you will be able to play out of your dreams and onto the stage :) Good Luck!

  • This is so awesome i love it! 5*. Please comment on my cover, would love some feedback!

  • sspspspspspam

  • Nope. By asking for feedback on my video from freddh2 is not spam? I just want to share my video with people because for reason one, thats the idea of youtube, and two we are musicians together on youtube... so why don't you just..... shhhhh :).

  • please make a tutorial i want to learn this!

  • Interesting way of playing, i like it! Nice going! =]

  • not bad at all! next time, i'd like to see an adaptation of andy mckee's "drifting" in sax? LOL.

  • OK, you do just that. I'll try with the triangle :)

    lol

  • very nice!

  • Incredible work. Purely Inspirational.

  • You're too good!

  • Mh, when i see someone like you playing, i think my choice was right to start learning piano.

    Thanks for this inspartional video!

  • My pleasure. Welcome aboard ;)

  • when i first clicked on this i didnt expect any good but i was really suprised! very well done!

  • Thanks :)

  • Great playing man! You made a clean transition from guitar to piano eventhough it was never intended for that instrument and I think you caught alot of the feeling in the song. 5/5 from Denmark :D

  • This is amazing!

  • that is so cool i have to agmit :D:DD

  • real good man you got some real talent..how long have you been playing?

  • a loooong time :)

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not offended. Far from it. The tune was never intended to be played other than on a guitar. And no piano will ever have the dynamics of Andy's guitar.

This was just a fun attempt at something, more for the sake of trying than for the good of music, ah! ah!

  • it makes for a beautiful piano peace aswell

  • im not that quick on figuring out the key u play in on piano (in fact i suck at finding out) but Drifting is played basicly around a Dmajor chord. so if u did that u prolly had the right key ;)

  • this is so goood :X:X:X amazing :X

  • Might be a dumb question as you probably learned it by ear, but do you have it on paper?

  • Nope. You're right, worked it out by ear. I think I changed the key, though, to make things easier, but from when the camera's over the keyborad, you should manage to figure big chunks out. ;)

  • Extremely well adaptation. I wish I could play the piano :)

  • very well played.

  • I was wondering how Drifting could be done on a piano because of the hand tapping intro of it =)...but it sound nice just as the original!

  • cool remix

  • amazing. thats all i can say. amazing.

  • Very beautiful playing. A delicate touch and emotive. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks Helen for such nice comment. I'm honoured having you stop by on my page.

    Hope you're getting better.

    All the best.

  • you play this song so beautifully, you are now one of my favourite pianists on youtube my friend, keep up the good work!!!

  • Thank you so much :)

  • hey was tryin to figure it out did u transcribe ur keyboard down 4 steps cause thts wat it sounds like...its great keep playin man

  • Can't remember, but it's not impossible I did. I probably got lazy and decided to transpose the tune into the easiest possible key. So I would have enough brains left to concentrate on the rhythm ! ah! ah!

In the end, I should have changed the key and played it somewhere else on the board, but I did that in a couple of hours so, I guess the timing was a bit short. I was just happy I figured it out, I guess.

Thanks for the nice comment. It's appreciated

    -Peace

  • very cool

  • you are fantastic-such talent! i am gobsmacked how well turned out for a guitar song!

  • heh, gobsmacked.

  • i really like it-now y diddnt i think of that? adapting it onto piano!very clever

  • Good for you! I like this version a lot.

  • yo this is SICK. good stuff man

  • This is weird, cool, and amazing at the same time! I wish i could play like you! Good job!

  • This... is just awesome. Great job, and keep it up!

  • beautiful.

  • fantastic, gret job!!!!

  • You amaze me, Fred! I Wish I could play like you.. This is the second video I watch and this the second video I like from your channel.. It seems to me that it's not ME! =P

    Regards.

  • Andy created this masterpiece, but you took it to a whole new level. I'm sure andy will be proud if he sees this. Congrats for such hell of a job.

  • just learnt this man, thanx for the inspiration

  • do you have the sheet music to this, cause this is amazing!!!

  • Very very good!

  • Seriously.. YOu should make a rendition of hoover the musical dog. THat would be awesome.

  • you should perform this live!!

  • yes yes yes. The slapping was a little dominant though, but still definitely 5 stars

  • have you seen the original version?

  • you mean Andy McKee's?

  • yes

  • yeah I've heard it. The acoustics of a guitar drum are simply better than that of a piano drum

  • Yeah, hitting may seam strange on a guitar the first time you see someone do it, but it makes sense.

On a piano, I'm not quite sure it does... ah! ah!

And even less on a plastic piano !

  • like I said earlier, it would sound better if the piano was a little more dominant and loud, but that's just minor critique on a 10 star job!

  • I guess my camera should be held responsible for the extremely poor sound quality. Couldn't do better at the time. For all my other videos, I recorded through my PC, but here, because of the tapping, I had to use the cam's mic which is awful. I'll have to do properly one day, on a real piano, and with a static mic if I can.

  • well you said the slapping was dominant. But you have to look at it like this, the acoustic version had the exact same slapping. saying that would be like saying the original had to much slapping, but its the original, and he did it the way he wanted it to be. It's like telling someone how to make there own piece.

  • well no what I meant was that maybe it's the material of the piano or the quality of the camera, but the slapping just sounds a little loud. I've seen the original and can play the intro, so I know how it goes. Maybe it's just the quality of the camera

  • ohh, i get what you mean. sorry i took it the wrong way. i agree too, piano should be more loud

  • OK, OK, guys, I'll do it again !!!

    =D

  • haha, looking forward to it

  • nice camerangles

  • Caused me lots of sweat and tears!

    :)

  • Killer chops, Maestro!

  • respect!!

  • mate, this song requires , skill, talent, hard training, all this on guitar, but piano , never knew it could happen o-o, 5/5

  • since there is a GP5 version out there, no problem.

as i piano player i would say that it's actually easier, no doubt.

  • its not the same thing

    but realy good man

    ;D
