The show is a one night only fundraiser and the performers donate their time, it is not normally filmed but at the last minute they decided to film this particular performance for PBS. The cast had 4 days to rehearse and they only ran through the play once before the actual night.

Reba right here is in a Carnegie Hall Performance of South Pacific! I saw the original with Mary Martin in the 1950's!

Reba is absolutely great. She can sing Broadway extraordinarily or many other genres. Beautiful, talented, funny. She is simply a great entertainer. And I love her accent!

at 0:05, you can really see the "Reba" in her. Like for example, her eye's are really bright and shiny, just like that one scene in "Forever Love" when *spoiler here* her T.A. pulls a move on her. Brings back good memories of her entire career and all her success while remaining to be our country sweetheart.

It's interesting to see the NELLY FORBUSH role played by an actual Southerner, which the character is supposed to be. Reba is a refreshing and interesting approach that offers more credability to the role. But at times her singing style is slightly off for the material. She tends to not quite hit notes on key. Her "bending" of notes sometimes is a half step off. No disrespect to her, but this is in reference to the musical material itself, which was written in a more formal structure.

@RayPointer . It does seem natural that a background in country music would create a far different approach than that of a technically trained singer. Still, I think that RM sings this role wonderfully (and I'm not usually a fan of hers).. It's a tribute to R & H that bending the notes simply lets the song breathe in a new and different way. A rendition like this shows the greatness of the song ... that it's bigger than the sum of its technical parts.

@4llewellyn Yes and no. A dischord is still a dischord. And the structure of this song makes Reba sound as if she can't hit the notes on key. She's a half step off on parts. This is nothing about letting the song breathe, but singing in tune.

@simplystreeptacular Also, sometimes, when you expand something to full screen on youtube, the picture is a little fuzzy or very fuzzy. That's not the case here. The video quality is great. Therefore, if someone does upload Wonderful Guy or some other song, it would be good to use the same method so that you will have this level of quality.

BRILLLIANT!!!!!-This is every woman's empowerment song when dealing with men! not to mention this is my favorite scene of the movie! loved it! specially when the man comes up right after the song and says "hello!" lol! and she is flustered. Might have to put in that conditioner and let it sit before rinsing to make sure the "man" is really out of her hair! lol!

@cutamisraeli Yes, it's not recording for radio, but it's not a full scale production of the show with extensive rehearsal, costumes, sets, etc. Therefore, many of the lines and some of the song lyrics are not memorized.
