I view most of these videos like the advert that came up on this page." Learn one of the most devastating martial arts in the world! RIGHT IN YOUR OWN HOME! The complete Muay Thai home study course". Anybody who imagines u can get street fighting skills that deal with a real time street fight from a DVD or a video on UTUBE need their bumps feeling. These videos r interesting & thought provoking but in the real world nothing else.
This kind of "training" video should be illegal. People are going to watch this, and learn the bullshit you have taught them...and get a baseball bat laid of the side of the head. You should be ashamed of yourself for teaching this.
@TheDarkVII Why do you think this is "bullshit?" More than a few folks have commented that this concept has worked for them in real life. I am not offering any guarantees here, just ideas.
What do you think someone should do in this type of situation if escape is not an option?
I understand the video was a simulated attack, but even still it is totally impractical. This however is not the way street attacks happen. The attacker would aim the Bat towards your weakest point, your head. The BEST way to defend this attack would be to reduce the gap between you and the attacker and get into his space, so that he has no room to swing the bat. In your video you are relying on the attacker to be a brainless idiot.
@TheDarkVII You say this is impractical, but u don't back it with any logic except to say that the attacker would swing at the head instead of the body. So what? you can still move in and turn with it.
"The BEST way to defend this attack would be to reduce the gap between you and the attacker and get into his space, so that he has no room to swing the bat."
...that is exactly what this technique is about: moving inside the power arc of the swing.
@EnsoAikido No...what THIS video shows is a guy making a half assed attempt at swinging a bat at you. You then skip out of the way, grab the bat and the guy rolls onto the floor.
If you ever meet an attacker with a baseball bat I HOPE he is as retarded as the man in the red...because if not, you are a DEAD man! Look up KRAV MAGA stick defence videos. Much more effective in my opinion.
@TheDarkVII As MixmasterWright and others have testified, this concept is sound (not the same as easy to do, btw). Slowing an attack or technique down for the purposes of clear demonstration is very common in martial arts instruction. However, if you would like to see this concept in action against unscripted full-speed attacks, please check out AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2] in the Video Responses.
@TheDarkVII By that logic I would say all training videos are going to be a waste of your time. Just watching a video and thinking you can apply it will result in people getting knocked out or worse. Good technique requires practice and some reflexive movement. Aikido is hard to master but effective if you get it right. However it is not something I would try to learn from a 1:26 video either. In that sense I agree with you. However the premise behind this technique can function.
@TheDarkVII I don't know about you but I've stopped about 5 baseball bats( same fight couln't take it out of the guys hands) this was really useful and I look forward to the next guy thats gonna come at me swinging
It would be nice to see a dedicated attack and not slow and projected attack being stopped on cue. Granted people with years of practice and constant training can do that in a real scenario but like others have posted that is a last resort option, what you want to do is just break contact and get away.
@Dragoon444 Sounds like you'd be interested in another video we did with full-speed attacks. You can find it under this video's Video Responses: AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2]. Thanks for watching.

Dude for real, you're not a Sensei. You should be ashamed of yourself for giving yourself such a title. Your voice is just not very convincing and you don't seem to play the part. I know white belts that would make you GO HOME AND CRY TO MAMA!!!!!
@Juicemasta88 Anyone can be a Sensei to someone else, if the student open to learning. I am not trying to play a part. I am just being myself, dork as I may be. I believe martial arts should help us learn to be more positive and authentic human beings, not bullies who enjoy inflicting suffering.
@EnsoAikido The part you missed is that a person NEVER refer to himself as a Sensei, his students do. Its abit like respect, you have to earn it, you can not claim to have it, or in this case be it.
@EnsoAikido Well, you have to teach wisdom to be an authentic human being and conflict avoidance should be taught to everyone. If everyone were to do this fights would drop by 75% worldwide because people would recognize when something made them angry and stop themselves right away to prevent feeling angry. Fighting, regardless of the form will always instill pride and can never be used to create peace because you will come to the conclusion that since you are stronger you force
i hate all these retarded defense videos. just for once i would like to see someone try this with someone actually swinging a baseball bat. the guy defending can even know how the guys is going to swing it i dont care. prove to me that this would work in even a best case scenario.
ok i did judo for a long time and nobody with decent balance will fall unless you put a leg underneath his....so i doubt the guy will fall down like that
@buyneee I'm sure you are very dangerous. Did you happen to notice that there are many comments from people who have reported using this concept in real life?
@EnsoAikido There are not many comments from people who have used this technique in real life because they are all dead. Funny coicidence though they were all diagnosed as having contracted BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA!
@TickleMaTurkey haha. trauma is not "contracted," it is incurred or experienced. but really, I've read at least five comments since this video was posted from folks who claim to have had success with this in real life. It's just a concept though, not a guarantee. I'm not even claiming it's easy, just a LAST RESORT.
@EnsoAikido `The attacker in a demonstrations always over extends & walks forward 2 make it easy for the defender. In real life the attackers plants his feet and swings.
@EnsoAikido I am not disrespecting u but the MA's in general gives unwarranted confidence to people who know techniques but have no clu how 2 fight. Thats why they get in2 a fight and wake up in emergency thinking "that didn't go right" Ever seen the film "foot fist way"?Theres more reality in that film than in all the "dedicated" martial arts films put together
Not bad but for the sake of all the none belivers out there it would have been shown beter with a comitted attack and showning a few more methods against that type of attack
lol people just dont understand that this form of martial arts is to make sure not only the defender is safe but also the attacker.. if anything he will get tired of being swung around and give up.. so many techniques give you the opportunity to severely injure and even kill an attacker but that is not what Aikido is about... lol and im just a 16 yr old with absolutely no training... very nice demonstration
whats funny is that theres not really anyway to "defend" against a baseball bat swing if you try your gonna get hurt and most likely somethings getting broken
@l3054 In my experience, if you have a negative attitude, you are very likely to fail, yes. Nothing is impossible though. This is just a concept, not a guarantee...
Wow, this is such shit. My daughter swings the bat harder than that so why not do it in real life and real speed. Give me a bat and lets see how far you get. Will I know yoru nuts will be flying out of the park along with your pride. Sorry dude, this video is pathetic.
@georgegeorgejesus The reduced speed is for the sake of clear demonstration of the concept. If you want to see some full-speed techniques, check out AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2] in the Video Responses.
all i know is that most ppl watching this video dont know what aikido is. this video was made for educational purposes. and he fell down because of cotegesh. not, him grabbing his arm
@mymusicvldeos Thanks for re-stating my disclaimer in the Description. Escape IS the best option when facing an armed attacker.
To answer your question, if the guy with the bat is also an expert in Aikido, there will be nothing to defend because Aikido experts to not attack people (except when practicing Aikido together).
Haha you're retarded if you think that will work! Give anyone that same bat and a reason to smash your face in and they will fucking smash your face in!
on the first one if he followed through and swung full force your forarms or ribs would be shattered, on the 2nd a simple repositioning of the feet would render the takedown useless, 3rd, if you tried to grab a bat in mid swing at full force you would have 2 broken hands, then as he followed through with his swing you would catch it in the mouth to
also if you try and catch a bat ur gonna get your hands broken. Try and defend yourself against rape with no hands.... that'd be a million view video!
not in real speed with some one who wants to hurt you. its pretty but not realistic. no one in ufc uses ai kido. you can only hope to get lucky with such skills.
@TheCoon891 ..You do realize almost all martial arts were around before ufc right? Everyone seems to be a ufc obsessed fanboy who thinks he's a fighting dynamo because he orders all ufc payperviews these days. I'd like to see a ufc fighter take on a 70 year old master of any old martial art. Jesus martial arts have been trivialized.
@Innominemephisto i am a gracie jiu jitsu blu belt, judo, wing chun, and shotokan ryu karate expert you do realize ufc is the ultimate showcase of skills right? keep dreaming buddy ai kido is great dont get me wrong but its the last art i will master
@TheCoon891 you must have a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong life man....
@lastusertosignup Of course not - if he went for the kness you'd have to jump for your life :-). If the swing was sped up though, the technique would also speed up and the effect would be more intense. But this is a demonstration of movement and so going at a controlled speed is necessary.
That said, some of the techniques did look a little sloppy in places, but that could be due to the relaxed nature of the demonstration.
@lastusertosignup We did a full speed version recently. See the video responses, please. No knee-swings in that one either though. Maybe that and thrusting attacks next time...?
@lastusertosignup if somebody is gonna swing at your knee why the fuck wouldnt you move your leg? just asking that question proves you know jack shit about martial arts. a downward strike makes it really easy to not get hit. less reach more recovery. think before you post.
@fapjack77 Not if executed properly - its' the laws of physics. Rather than standing at the predicted point of impact, the defender moves inside the danger arc, harnessing the arm in the process. Rather than stand there and take the impact, he turns in a circular fashion within the swing, absorbing the energy from the swing and converting it back to potential energy rather than kinetic.
@fapjack77 The reason the bat ends up by his ribs is because by that point is because when the vast majority of energy has gone from the swing, he then secures it close to his body rather than allowing it to dangle out in front of him, where he is weak and could easily be overpowered. The same is true if someone swings a wooden or metal nunchuka at you - harness the movement, go with it, absorb the weapon. Having done it myself, I can testify it works.
@portuguesepsycho1389 The idea is not to catch the bat. It is to move inside the arc of power. Please check out our sequel: AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2]. Peace.
Stop swinging so fake, and swing that bat like you mean it! The way you're swinging it looks like you're trying to hit him more with your hands than with the bat. I can assure you that if you really swung that bat like you're suppose to, not only would that guy be unable to deflect it, but you would also knock the shit out of him.
@jgm0524 And if you take an AK-47 and start firing you would most surelly beat the shit out of him aswell, but this is a demonstration, meant for practicing, they´re not swinging at full speed nor trying to murder their mate. Read the description.
I HATE getting ninja'd when I'm straight thuggin! It's a bitch! I'm just minding my own, attempting to obtain some tax-free income and then out of NO WHERE I get my bat taken away! What kinda bullshit is THAT?!
If he'd stop handing him the bat back he wouldn't need to defend him self gawd, lol jk works pretty well love the flow and how you go with the swing :)
you should use a wiffle bat at full speed just to really see how affective this is. I mean, hand placement seem so important in Aikido that only a m-m-mega master would ever be able to use it IRL. But..... maybe AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2] discusses this, so heading there now!
In boxing...you are supposed to use techniques that motion you towards your opponent because the whole point isn't to back down...people say "oh well i'll just back away"...but then you give them a second chance to swing....one way or another...if someone is attacking you with a weapon...you have to attack them or face the chance of them attacking you....
I agree. If I had watched the "Part 2" video where you state right up front not to wait for the swing, I wouldn't have made my comment. Your 2nd video explains that completely and I agree. If someone comes at me with a bat I am not waiting for the swing, I am moving in immediately. Thanks for your reply.
My only comment is that the defender in this video is often moving before the attacker has started to swing and the swing is in slow motion at best. A real swing of a baseball bat is not something anyone should try to stop. I think it might be best to get out of the way and try to attack after the swing or move in immediately and cut off the distance so the attacker can't swing. I think it's dangerous to make students think they can stop a bat.
@Rickholly74 It's true, the defender does NOT wait for the attacker to start the actual swing; instead, he moves in as the attacker is drawing the bat back. I would also like to clarify: the idea is NOT to stop the bat. The idea is to move inside the arc and use the motion of the swing to take the attacker off balance. Please see our other video on the subject, AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2]
It would be nice (if) you actually showed a REALISTIC demonstration. In real life the assailant would never let you get that close to him to even have a chance at grabbing the bat. He or she might also try to ram you with it nose first, or clobber you on the head with it, much like using a hammer!! If you're going to demonstrate, at least demonstrate something realistic!!!!
@budo4ever If he doesn't want to be close to me, how can he hit me? The attacks you describe are quite possible, but I really think the simple swing is the most likely and therefore the most realistic attack. Your suggestions are interesting though. Maybe we can address them in the future. Thanks for watching. Please check out AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2] for full-speed demonstration with more overhead attacks
Looks similar to the Principle OF Maximum Efficiency taught in Judo.

If you move first, and then he "hits", it is not realistic. For bad presentation. Dislike. :)

TheNinjarcher 2 weeks ago
on the first one if he followed through and swung full force your forarms or ribs would be shattered, on the 2nd a simple repositioning of the feet would render the takedown useless, 3rd, if you tried to grab a bat in mid swing at full force you would have 2 broken hands, then as he followed through with his swing you would catch it in the mouth to

i've got my doubts about the first two techniques, but the last one would defenetly work if the openent doesn't let the bat lose.

not in real speed with some one who wants to hurt you. its pretty but not realistic. no one in ufc uses ai kido. you can only hope to get lucky with such skills.
TheCoon891 3 weeks ago
@TheCoon891 ..You do realize almost all martial arts were around before ufc right? Everyone seems to be a ufc obsessed fanboy who thinks he's a fighting dynamo because he orders all ufc payperviews these days. I'd like to see a ufc fighter take on a 70 year old master of any old martial art. Jesus martial arts have been trivialized.

ok sorry man, I like aikido but speed that swing up to 'real time' and go for the knees you won't be doing any of that.
lastusertosignup 3 weeks ago 13
@lastusertosignup Of course not - if he went for the kness you'd have to jump for your life :-). If the swing was sped up though, the technique would also speed up and the effect would be more intense. But this is a demonstration of movement and so going at a controlled speed is necessary.
That said, some of the techniques did look a little sloppy in places, but that could be due to the relaxed nature of the demonstration.
RKSloth 3 weeks ago
@lastusertosignup We did a full speed version recently. See the video responses, please. No knee-swings in that one either though. Maybe that and thrusting attacks next time...?
EnsoAikido 3 weeks ago
@lastusertosignup if somebody is gonna swing at your knee why the fuck wouldnt you move your leg? just asking that question proves you know jack shit about martial arts. a downward strike makes it really easy to not get hit. less reach more recovery. think before you post.

ok that fruit cup cant swing a bat
deepdragon2 3 weeks ago
if that was a full swing your ribs would get blown in half
fapjack77 3 weeks ago
@fapjack77 Not if executed properly - its' the laws of physics. Rather than standing at the predicted point of impact, the defender moves inside the danger arc, harnessing the arm in the process. Rather than stand there and take the impact, he turns in a circular fashion within the swing, absorbing the energy from the swing and converting it back to potential energy rather than kinetic.
RKSloth 3 weeks ago
@fapjack77 The reason the bat ends up by his ribs is because by that point is because when the vast majority of energy has gone from the swing, he then secures it close to his body rather than allowing it to dangle out in front of him, where he is weak and could easily be overpowered. The same is true if someone swings a wooden or metal nunchuka at you - harness the movement, go with it, absorb the weapon. Having done it myself, I can testify it works.

@RKSloth Excellent!

Stop swinging so fake, and swing that bat like you mean it! The way you're swinging it looks like you're trying to hit him more with your hands than with the bat. I can assure you that if you really swung that bat like you're suppose to, not only would that guy be unable to deflect it, but you would also knock the shit out of him.
jgm0524 3 weeks ago
@jgm0524 And if you take an AK-47 and start firing you would most surelly beat the shit out of him aswell, but this is a demonstration, meant for practicing, they´re not swinging at full speed nor trying to murder their mate. Read the description.

you should use a wiffle bat at full speed just to really see how affective this is. I mean, hand placement seem so important in Aikido that only a m-m-mega master would ever be able to use it IRL. But..... maybe AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2] discusses this, so heading there now!

first of all how gay is he swinging the bat. lets see him grab that bat at full swing dun think his arm will be able to take it.
philfyness 4 weeks ago
The main advantage of a bat is you don't need to get too close. This dufus steps right into the other guy. What a joke
redman45157 4 weeks ago
In boxing...you are supposed to use techniques that motion you towards your opponent because the whole point isn't to back down...people say "oh well i'll just back away"...but then you give them a second chance to swing....one way or another...if someone is attacking you with a weapon...you have to attack them or face the chance of them attacking you....
PERIOD...*clicks the like button*

tylerdanieltothemax 1 month ago
I agree. If I had watched the "Part 2" video where you state right up front not to wait for the swing, I wouldn't have made my comment. Your 2nd video explains that completely and I agree. If someone comes at me with a bat I am not waiting for the swing, I am moving in immediately. Thanks for your reply.
Rickholly74 1 month ago
@Rickholly74 No problem. Thanks for a the comment. I'm sure many others were wondering the same thing... Peace.
EnsoAikido 1 month ago
My only comment is that the defender in this video is often moving before the attacker has started to swing and the swing is in slow motion at best. A real swing of a baseball bat is not something anyone should try to stop. I think it might be best to get out of the way and try to attack after the swing or move in immediately and cut off the distance so the attacker can't swing. I think it's dangerous to make students think they can stop a bat.
Rickholly74 1 month ago
@Rickholly74 It's true, the defender does NOT wait for the attacker to start the actual swing; instead, he moves in as the attacker is drawing the bat back. I would also like to clarify: the idea is NOT to stop the bat. The idea is to move inside the arc and use the motion of the swing to take the attacker off balance. Please see our other video on the subject, AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2]
EnsoAikido 1 month ago
The guy doesn't even swing the bat...
traxi14 1 month ago
It would be nice (if) you actually showed a REALISTIC demonstration. In real life the assailant would never let you get that close to him to even have a chance at grabbing the bat. He or she might also try to ram you with it nose first, or clobber you on the head with it, much like using a hammer!! If you're going to demonstrate, at least demonstrate something realistic!!!!
budo4ever 1 month ago 2
@budo4ever If he doesn't want to be close to me, how can he hit me? The attacks you describe are quite possible, but I really think the simple swing is the most likely and therefore the most realistic attack. Your suggestions are interesting though. Maybe we can address them in the future. Thanks for watching. Please check out AIKIDO VERSUS BASEBALL BAT [2] for full-speed demonstration with more overhead attacks
