Doubtful it will overtake wow seems majority of the money put into the game so far has been in its trailers and cgi cutscenes and voiceovers with character model detail being a hindsite I mean if I want to look at a cartoon ill watch nickelodeon. Majoirty of mmo gamers aren't using low end rigs no more so why not improve the character models.

Wow will not be beaten but it will not be better. These are two different games. SW fans go their way Fantasy gamers will go the other. Even though i think SWToR has potential to be better as far as an MMO as WoW. WoW players will play wow. SWToR players will play SWToR

So Bioware is sort of at a disadvantage. They need to release this MMO Balanced AND with a good combat system or else they will lose alot of people who are to lazy to wait for the fixes, they'll jump right back to wow.

And to be honest I hope this game does good. I'm going to pick it up. But from what I've seen in the past the chances of it beating WoW are very slim.

they recently released a video including gameplay the fighting is basically the same as wows and have reserved a section at places such as comic con the penny arcade expo and another which will give people a demo of the gameplay and like jagex with mechscape they wont release it until near perfection

Just like AoC. I was following that from the time it was announced. I gave up my BT 25 man raid spot because the game LOOKED awesome. But the combat sucked and the classes were not balanced....so in the end I went back to wow. And I think that will be the deciding factor. Because WoW has already done a decent job with Balance and combat. Most people with short attention spans dont want to wait 4-5 years (Where wow is now) for another MMO to work out the kinks.

*shrugs* IMO the only reason no one has stopped wow before is not because of a good idea for a game, TBH all the latest MMO's had great ideas. The deciding factor is the combat system and how the classes balance. So all this talk about how "Star wars > WoW" doesnt even come into play in my opinion. I loved KotoR but the reason I dont think that this game will do well is due to the fact that. no MMO has been able to make a combat system that is decent AND balance the classes.

The more I think about it, the more I hope it does. Suuuure, WoW had it's multiple predecessors leading to the climactic hype of WoW, but Star-Wars had it's EPIC SCALE movies, and so many star-wars games I don't want to count, that it's GOTTA be just as epic.
