  • It was 25 years ago in 2011.

  • @winyguy and its going to be 50 years in 2036 and they still will not have won another WS

  • When the Giants went to Super Bowl XXI some time later, Phil Tonken's station ID V/O encouraged the NY Giants to likewise "BRING IT HOME!" And they did. Not bad for some 8-9 months of work between the Mets and Giants.

  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of WOR-TV's New York Mets Baseball Video Promo For Tuesday Night, May 27, 1986.

  • @radiodj1520 You may be right.

  • Keep Jose Reyes a Met! Go to payjose.com and sign the petition!

    payjose.com

  • it was WOR then.

when the extra was added it became known as "the station with the stammer"

  • I didn't know that Betty White was a Mets fan. She is in the video at 19 seconds.

  • WOR-TV/WWOR had a cool lineup in the late 1970's and in to the 1980's not only with the Mets and Knicks and Rangers ,but movies, TV classics like Magnum PI, Hawaii Five-O,I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, The Partridge Family and others plus game shows like theJack Narz Concentration,The Joker's Wild, Tic Tac Dough, Bullseye, The Match Game, Treasure Hunt,The Newlywed Game and The Dating Game among others.

  • WOR-TV gones RKO ID and Cityscape ID

  • I watched Romper Room on WOR-TV when i was young.

  • Good Ol Ms Molly

  • LMFAO!! Ha ha ha, No, but I get it

  • then why would u get the braves and not specifically any other teams from outside the area?

  • Because WTBS Atlanta was a Superstation and carried the Braves for years -- as recently as 2007!

  • It was the 80s, it was back when WTBS in Atlanta was in it imfamousy with Braves baseball, reruns of Beverly Hillbillies and Wrestling. For the longest time all we got was WPIX, WWOR, WTBS our local stations and that was really it.

  • Go to remember the old super stations were taking off in the 1980s with the advent of cable. Channels like WTBS and WGN.

  • And all the cable companies across the country carried the super stations as they were in their home markets, no SyndEx crap.

  • I remember first getting cable in Upstate NY when I was 8. We got the stations from NYC. WTBS had the Braves, WPIX had the Yankees and WWOR had the Mets. Since that day been a Mets fan ever since.

  • oh... by Braves do you mean Boston Braves? If so it must have been between 1962-1966 the only years they were in Boston when the Mets existed.

  • No -- TBS used to be a satellite feed of WTBS from Atlanta. Braves games were available on cable from the late '70s through 2007.

  • braves left boston in 54. they were in milwaukee until 66.

  • @dadsoldtapes That's not true, The Boston Braves never existed when the mets played. The Braves left Boston after the 1953 season and went to Milwaukee....and the mets didn't come into the league until 1962.

  • @dadsoldtapes The Braves were in Milwaukee when the Mets were born, They move to Atlanta in 1966.

  • @dadsoldtapes The Braves were in Milwaukee when the Mets were established. They moved to Atlanta in 1966.

  • @Crisgo3d Where in upstate NY were you? I'm from NYC, but go to school in Binghamton. Some people here say they used to receive Red Sox games alongside the Mets, Braves and Yankees. No idea how that happened.....

  • @Crisgo3d Go Mets

  • That's WOR, not WWOR! Channel 9 changed its call letters a year later!

  • I was 8 years old when I started seeing the games at WWOR

  • How about the 1987 Mets theme, "Let's go Mets; Let's do it again," although they fell short of doing it another time? Thanx.

  • Wow, Ed Koch? , years go by so fast, I already had forgotten he was the mayor back then.

  • Wow, retro commercials crack me up

  • Because you're just too cool to take them seriously, right? Everything is "cheesy" and can be enjoyed in an ironic, somewhat superior way. Often the "cheese" factor is increased by sincerity and wholesomeness, which are characteristics scoffed at by the Too Cool for School set.

  • ha- funny seeing Geo Foster- this is an early season promo- before they dumped him

  • Love the 80s cheese!!

    LETS GO METS

  • do somebody have the other 86 WOR-TV Mets commercials.

  • They brought it home in 86'!
