Composed by Carrie Jacobs-Bond for lyrics by Frank Lebby Stanton, "Just a-Wearyin' for You" was one of Jacobs-Bond's SEVEN SONGS AS UNPRETENTIOUS AS THE WILD ROSE. "I Love You Truly" was another song in that 1901 collection. Those two and "A Perfect Day" (1910) pre-eminently established her as the first woman to make a living from composing. Paul Robeson recorded all three. See the Wikipedia articles on Frank Lebby Stanton as well as Carrie Jacobs-Bond and those three songs.
55 years ago I found this in a songbook of my grandmothers and loved it. Then I heard this recording almost as long ago, and have looked for it ever since. Thank you so much. It is beautiful.
Dear GramaphoneShane : Thank You Very Much. Paul, with Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa is one of few Persons that made the Human Race more Beautiful. From Australia
Sorry, can't put Nelson Mandela in the same class as Paul or Mother Theresa. Nelson I remember as a terrorist. Couldn't , wouldn't, control his wife, wouldn't do anything about Mugabe. A victim in the end of his own press. To be honest it upsets me to even put his name on the same page as Mother Theresa.
Gotta give Mandela some credit....was able to put up with jail for 27 years.. but could'nt put up with his wife for 2months...got ridda her toute suite....Wow!
Great sound. Just the way you want to hear/see it.

Combines technical mastery with a highly emotional performance. Surely the world's greatest singer ever.
